About this property
Pā Tōrea | The Red Shed
Nau mai, haere mai!
Fancy waking up with views out to Farewell Spit? Or gently strolling out onto the beach? Or cosying up with a good book?
Nestled between Collingwood and Milnthorpe in Golden Bay, The Red Shed offers a tranquil getaway just steps away from a quiet stretch of beach with golden sands and the gentle sound of ocean waves.
The Space
Enjoy your morning coffee at the breakfast bar with ocean views, explore the nearby pristine beaches (including Wharariki and Farewell Spit), embark on some water sports or take scenic walks along a multitude of trails. We have plenty of local knowledge we can share with you if required, including fishing, hiking, biking, kayaking and local attractions.
The space offers private beach access, views out to Farewell Spit, a fully equipped kitchen, hand crafted interior with bespoke touches, a cosy log burner for cooler evenings and modern decor, ensuring you feel right at home while surrounded by nature.
The mezzanine bedroom has a double bed (note 3/4 height ceiling). The kitchen facilities include gas hob, small electric oven, toaster, kettle and large fridge with freezer section.
We provide some breakfast basics for your stay including locally roasted coffee, tea, cereal, milk, bread and spreads.
The bathroom unit is approx. 40m walk from The Red Shed (with the yellow door). There is a toilet, hot shower and washing machine with wash powder/clothes rack/pegs for your use. Please note, this is a shared unit with our yurt guests.
We also have kayaks and a paddle board that you are welcome to use at no extra cost.
The Red Shed is a peaceful spot tailored for both relaxation and adventure, whether you're seeking a romantic getaway or a personal retreat.
Slow down and unwind in this unique place.
Other details to note
Due to resting and nesting birds at our beach entrance (particularly our resident tōrea - pied & variable oystercatchers), we can unfortunately not accept dogs. Please take care when heading onto the beach so as not to disturb them or any young chicks.
The property runs on filtered rain water.
We are a quiet but active homestead so there may be the occasional noise of a passing tractor or car.
