We didn't know what to expect coming to Kiawah Island for the first time but absolutely loved everything about our stay, down to this VRBO. We were very comfortable, located steps away from the beach and had everything we needed to relax and enjoy our visit. Great location. Quiet and peaceful area. Lots of walking trails and even close to a little market and simple biyes restaurant. We will definitely book this VRBO again. Thanks for such an amazing stay!

The location was great. Just steps from the boardwalk to the beach. It was very clean, communication was excellent and the kitchen was well stocked. I love that they provided beach towels.

Wonderful 4th of July vacation

We had a great experience! The new bathroom and kitchen renovations are top notch. The 1st floor storage was so helpful with our beach gear. Best of all, the proximity to the beach was just what we had hoped for. The only drawback was the stomping of children and the dragging of chairs in the unit above us. If you are sensitive to noise this could be an issue. For us it was not and we will book this property again.

Thank you, Vee, for the kind review of Driftwood Dreams! Glad the new bathroom and kitchen renovations landed well and that the first floor storage helped with the beach gear. Thank you also for the honest note about noise from above; it's useful for future guests. We'd love to have you back. Steven, iTrip Charleston Beaches

I’ll start with the positives: the location is great, and communication with the host was perfectly fine—responsive and easy enough. Unfortunately, that’s where the good news ends.Upon arrival, it became clear that “cleaning” may have been more of a loose concept than an actual service. The sink still had a bit of food in the drain, the shower had visible hair, and the overall condition felt far from guest-ready.The biggest concern was the linens. The towels and sheets had been taken out of packaging and placed in the closet and on the beds, but there was no indication they had actually been washed. The master bedroom also had a distinct and persistent smell of urine, which made it… memorable.I was charged 75 for a “club,” even though the listing clearly states that club access is not included. There was ongoing construction right outside the property that started very early in the morning and continued throughout the day. This was not disclosed anywhere in the listing, and it significantly impacted the experience. The property has potential but it's got a way to go.

Response from VrboOwner on 6 May 2026
Here’s a measured public response that corrects the record without sounding defensive: Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the location and found our communication responsive, but we’re sorry the home did not meet your expectations. We do want to clarify a few points. All linens placed on the beds are professionally laundered before each stay, and the folded linens in the closet are provided for the sofa bed. The home is also professionally cleaned and inspected prior to arrival. After receiving your comments, we followed up on the concerns mentioned, including the reported odor, but we were unable to verify any persistent smell in the master bedroom. Regarding the fee referenced as a “club” fee, we understand the confusion. That wording is dictated by Vrbo’s fee-labeling system and does not indicate that club access is included. We agree the terminology can be misleading and wish it were clearer. We also had no prior notice of construction activity nearby, and there was no construction taking place when the home was inspected after your stay. Had we been aware of a disruption, we would certainly have communicated that in advance where possible. That said, we take all guest feedback seriously and will continue reviewing the home carefully to ensure it is clean, comfortable, and guest-ready. We appreciate you acknowledging the property’s potential and wish your experience had been more positive.
