About this property

The Boat Shed - Waterfront Bach at HarbourLights

A classic 1970s retro Kiwi bach right on the water’s edge at One Tree Point. Wake to harbour views, wander down your private beach track, and experience life the way it used to be - simple, peaceful, and perfectly relaxed. Ideal for couples, families or work stays.

This nostalgic two-bedroom retreat offers the kind of simplicity that never goes out of style. It’s not the Ritz - and that’s exactly the point. Clean, comfortable, and full of retro charm, this bach delivers an authentic Kiwi 70s experience.

This bach was once part of the Harbour Lights Campground - a much-loved local holiday spot from the 70s. You’ll see exactly why it was called Harbour Lights - at night, the port glows in the distance and house lights flicker across the harbour.

The master bedroom features a queen bed with water views, and the second bedroom has two king singles - great for the kids or visiting friends.

The lounge and dining area is cosy and sunlit, with a heat pump, smart TV, and a dining table for four.

The retro kitchen includes a stove, oven, fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster, and jug, along with all the essentials like crockery, cutlery, glassware, pots, pans, and utensils - everything you need to prepare simple meals or enjoy a classic Kiwi breakfast.

The bathroom is also delightfully retro, with a rain-head shower, hand basin, and toilet.

A washing machine, dryer, and laundry tub are located in the storage shed adjoining the carport, giving you everything you need for longer stays. There’s also an external clothesline just outside the bach for drying towels and togs after a swim.

Out front, there’s a large deck with outdoor seating and lounging armchairs - the perfect spot to take in the view across the harbour to Mount Manaia, or to watch the lights of the port and houses across the water as evening sets in. It’s a great place to start the day with a coffee or wind down with a drink at night.

Guests have full access to the Bach, including a private carport and a storage shed with laundry facilities.

The property is part of what was once the Harbour Lights campground - now a small group of privately owned holiday units sharing a peaceful, coastal setting. It’s quiet, laid-back, and full of classic Kiwi holiday charm.
There’s also communal seating on the front lawn, shared with neighbouring unit owners - a great spot to enjoy the view or have a friendly chat.

One Tree Point is a relaxed coastal community on the shores of Whangārei Harbour, perfect for a low-key getaway. It’s mostly quiet year-round and has a great holiday vibe during the summer, offering a mix of peaceful seaside living and easy access to local spots.

The area is great for walking and biking, and you’re just a short stroll from the Marsden Cove Marina, where you’ll find several options for dining, including breakfast, coffee, and dinner by the water. For beach time, swim at high tide just out front, or drive 10 minutes to the surf at Ruakākā Beach.

Boat ramps at One Tree Point and the Marsden Cove Marina are just minutes away, and you’ll find groceries, takeaways and fuel close by at the Four Square or Ruakākā Shopping Centre.

Historic Waipū village is also an easy drive, with its museum, cafés and boutique shops, and on the way is the Waipū Golf Course, a scenic public course right on the waterfront at Bream Bay.

This Bach and the other waterfront units, are part of what was once the Harbour Lights campground - now a laid-back group of holiday apartments. The views across the harbour to Mount Manaia and the port are always changing. Whether you`re here to explore, unwind, or stay for work, it’s an easy place to settle in.

There is no public transport in the area - you`ll need your own car. Bring bikes as it is a perfect area for riding around, but just as good to walk around - we recommend stopping off at the Marsden Cafe in the Marsden Cove Marina!

The beach is great for swimming at full tide and still lovely to explore when the tide is out

You’re welcome to use the communal outdoor furniture, but please be considerate of other guests
