Back to nature rainforest retreat, in the centre of the Sunshine Coast Region.
Welcome to all those looking for a sanctuary where you can immerse yourself in nature but still be 20 minutes from Sunshine Coast’s beaches, the Great Walk Track, waterfalls, Mapleton, Montville and Eumundi, if you love a good market. The idea for the creation of this space was conceptualised when attending yoga retreats hosted by Brisbane’s One Family Yoga and Fitness at various locations on the Gold and Sunshine Coast over 10 years ago! The experience of stepping out of the rat race and taking the time to breathe and rest in nature was so wonderful, that I wanted to create a space for others to enjoy the same experience. At the time we had no idea how long and difficult the process would be but the dream was there and we had committed to making it a reality. As our kids grew up, it soon became a family project and we could not have made it without the enormous help and support from all of them – especially Joe who conveniently became a sparky! Nature’s Echo is all about nurturing, support and re-connecting with nature. With it’s own rainforest habitat, abundant birds and trickling creek, it lends itself to the perfect place to recharge the batteries.
For the budding (or accomplished!) ornithologists, we are privileged to have many species living in our back yard. As part of our desire to better understand our environment, we encourage guests spot as many birds as possible on their visit and contribute to our bird guide.
A sustainable garden is also available for guest use including herbs, seasonal vegetables and a small orchard containing lemons, limes, mandarins, avocados, passionfruit. Your host is an old (experienced!) horticulturalist and is happy to chat plants all day if that is something guests are interested in! Also, we have chooks (chickens) and 2 resident guinea fowl!
Natures Echo is a place of quiet, relaxation and rest. It is definitely NOT a party house and we have strict rules around noise and disturbing the peace. The property can comfortably accommodate 12 people in 9 rooms. However, we can squeeze extras in if required. There are 6 intimate single rooms especially designed for solitary retreat and those who don’t want to share! The remaining 3 king rooms can be used for couples or can be reconfigured for twin or triple share room. The spacious main area is multi-purpose as well, providing ample space for groups or family members to gather. There is also a fireplace for cozy winter nights.
The property is mostly solar powered and water is supplied via tanks on site with sophisticated charcoal filters and a biodynamic waste water-treatment plant has been installed. Whilst we endeavour to minimize our impact on the environment, this means that we ask guests to be mindful of water usage and waste treatment system when using the toilet!
Depending on your needs, there is a kitchenette available with all of the basic equipment or alternatively the catering van can be used when cooking up a storm! Uber Eats and other services can deliver delights for many restaurants and cafes in the region.
Outside is a covered entertaining area with a converted van containing bar fridges and other catering equipment. There is also a large 4 burner & wok BBQ, overlooking the rainforest vista when you prefer a laid-back BBQ. Also outside is a bathhouse looking into the rainforest for that relaxing soak.
If using Natures Echo as a base, there are many cafes, pubs and excellent restaurants in the area including the fabulous Piggy Back up the road in Palmwoods (https://piggyb.com.au). There are numerous hiking trails including the Great Walk Tracks behind Mapleton and Montville, mountain bike tracks including the 2032 Olympic trails at Nambour, not to mention the many fabulous beaches of the Sunshine Coast.

Some of our favourites include: * Australia Zoo * Noosa Everglades * The Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk - many hiking options * Kondalilla National Park * Kondalilla Falls, Gardners and Wappa Falls * Parklands Mountain Bike Trails * Cotton Tree, Mooloolaba and Coolum Beaches (personal favs!)
Finally, please note, whilst we take every precaution to ensure a safe and pleasant stay, the property is located in the Australian bush. Staying in a natural environment comes with unique experiences and responsibilities. Uneven ground, wildlife, weather changes, water features and outdoor activities require guests to use reasonable care, follow retreat guidance and participate in ways that are safe and appropriate for their individual needs and abilities.

About the host
Hosted by Andrew
Andrew and I both grew up on farms in Central Queensland where hosting visitors was common practice. Accommodating guests and sharing the unique aspects of life on the land and the natural environment has been practiced throughout our lives. We have travelled the world and love exploring new environments especially those in rural and regional areas that are off the beaten track. As long-term campers, hikers, rock-climbers, fire watchers, star gazers and general lovers of nature, we have created a space where others can experience the joys of stepping away from the chaos of everyday life and recharge the batteries. We were also introduced to many joys and benefits and yoga 15 years ago and the life-changing experience of weekend yoga retreats that served as a catalyst for creating a space for other's to enjoy. The property was designed to allow small groups of 12 - 14 to come together with space to commune or simply retreat from the world to rest and restore. We want guests to know that we are happy to facilitate any additional services including catering, massage therapists and other healing modalities as well as Vibroacoustic therapy (https://vibrosoundhealing.com/).
Why they chose this property
Staying at Natures Echo offers so many options for guests with the most important one being able to stop and enjoy doing nothing and recharge the batteries in a beautiful natural environment, surrounded by birds and nature. Most food delivery companies service the area so you don't even have to cook if you don't want to. However, if guests choose, a quick google of the Sunshine Coast (https://visitsunshinecoast.com/) will reveal the many attractions and experiences that are available. The beauty of staying at Natures Echo is that we are only 20 minutes drive to so many different options including Mapleton and Montville country townships on The Blackall Range, where national park hikes, farm-to-table meals and enlightening cultural tours are on offer. For the explorers there are short walks throughout Mapleton Falls National Park and Mapleton National Park. Depending on which section you tackle, you’ll be surrounded by piccabeen palm groves, ancient bunya pines and blackbutt forests. The Wompoo Circuit is a favourite with the soundtrack of the wompoo fruit dove as you wind through rainforest and eucalypt forest. For the more adventurous you can easily access the one of the many large sections of the Sunshine Coast Great Walk that tracks though rainforests eucalypt forests, past waterfalls, swimming holes, creeks with lookouts along the way. Then there are the beaches.... Our favourite beach, Cotton Tree/Maroochydore, is also only 20 minutes away. As a local it is easy to become blaze to the beauty of our local beaches, but they are truly spectacular and we encourage guest to explore the many options available. The Sunshine Coast and all it has to offer is also very family friendly and just friendly in general!
What makes this property unique
Many years were spent searching the area for a suitable property to allow us to bring our dream to reality. The best part of Natures Echo is the 5 acre block itself which allows enough space from neighbours and includes 3 acres of rainforest and native bush. This habitat is home to many birds and we have loved learning to identify many of them by sight and sound including kookaburras, pale-headed rosellas, lorikeets, eastern barn owls, wompoos and the magnificent king parrots and king-fishers to name a few. Over the years we realised that our most enjoyable experiences included those where locals offered authentic insights to their areas. Your hosts are located on the same property, separate to the guest accommodation, and are available to assist with any support required. Otherwise, guests are left to enjoy the property completely to themselves after collecting the keys!
