Our family had a wonderful stay at Brookside. The cottage is clean and spacious, with beautiful light. The beach is a short walk away, and was wonderful for an early morning walk and evening swim. The screened porch was a wonderful spot to drink a coffee and listen to the brook babbling nearby.We ate at some delicious local restaurants and enjoyed many local attractions. Will definitely return every summer!

Staying four nights at this home was definitely not enough—not just because the property is absolutely beautiful, but because Cape Breton and its people are truly one of a kind.The house itself is stunning, incredibly clean, and filled with thoughtful, beautiful decor throughout. Its location offers the perfect balance of peacefulness tucked in the woods near a stream, while still being close to the beach. Our family loved relaxing in the Jacuzzi, gathering around the fire pit in the evenings, and taking full advantage of the play area for the kids.What truly elevated our stay, however, was our host, Melanie. We have never had such a wonderful hosting experience. Even before we checked in, she reached out to make sure we arrived safely on our three-week road trip out east. Throughout our stay, she checked in regularly to ensure our entire family felt comfortable and cared for. Her communication was phenomenal, warm, and attentive—it truly felt like having a friend guiding us on our journey.We cannot recommend this home enough and strongly suggest booking a longer stay if you can!

We absolutely loved our stay at Brookside Coastal Estate. The home is even more beautiful in person, and you can tell how much thought and care has gone into every detail. Everything was spotless, beautifully appointed and incredibly comfortable.The location is fantastic. Chimney Corner Beach is so close and quickly became a favourite, especially for the sunsets, while the property itself feels peaceful and private.There is so much to enjoy without even leaving Brookside. The bridge over the brook is such a unique touch, the fire pit is beautiful in the evenings, and the hot tub was amazing after a day of exploring. The game shed was a huge hit with the kids—they loved the foosball table and Pop-A-Shot!Melanie, the property manager, was wonderful—warm, responsive, helpful and genuinely interested in making sure we had a great stay.Brookside feels like part of the vacation itself, not simply somewhere to sleep. Beautiful home, gorgeous property, incredible location and so many thoughtful touches. We would absolutely stay again and highly recommend it!

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Brookside for a week. It exceeded all expectations, it felt like walking into a magazine spread, the whole property is stunning. Everything has been meticulously thought out as well, from the large number of all the plates, dishes, numerous pans, baking dishes, various mixing bowls and basic cooking essentials, the kitchen felt fully stocked for anything we might want to prepare. There are numerous beach towels, sunscreen, and bug spray for outdoor play at home or the picturesque beach a short walk at the end of the road.The interior and exterior both boasted cozy and large spaces to come together or have a moment to yourself. A personal favourite was the three seasons room with the heater, great for morning coffee or after dinner relaxing while listening to the trickling of the stream, while staying bug free. The kids favourite spaces would be the comfy downstairs couch or the games shed where they could grab the wagon and fill with beach toys.Nighttime brought a few special treats whether it was the upper porch for the sunsets or around the fire pit under the twinkling lights.  We look forward to booking this house again with family and friends to relax as well as explore Cape Breton again.An extra treat was the concierge service which was there to answer our questions prior/during our trip which then included managing to arrange and deliver a dairy-free cake for a birthday celebration from a local baker.

Brookside Coastal Estate has been a dream many years in the making. Elizabeth grew up spending summers in Cape Breton, where her family's cottage along the Margaree River became a place of lifelong memories. I began visiting with her when we started dating in 1997, and after we married in 2003, Cape Breton became our family's favourite place to reconnect, slow down, and enjoy nature together.

We built Brookside to create those same experiences for our children—and now we're excited to share it with others. We hope our home feels less like a vacation rental and more like a place where you can gather with family and friends, explore this incredible island, and create memories that bring you back year after year.

Brookside is tucked away in peaceful Chimney Corner, just a short walk from one of our favourite beaches, yet only minutes from Cabot Cliffs and Cabot Links, the village of Inverness, the Margaree Valley, and the western entrance to Cape Breton Highlands National Park.

What we love most is the balance. You can spend the morning hiking in the Highlands, the afternoon relaxing on the beach, enjoy dinner overlooking the ocean, and return to the quiet of Brookside to watch the sunset from the deck or gather around the firepit. It offers the best of Cape Breton without ever feeling crowded.
