About this property

Pukehuia Paradise – Private Spa Retreat with Wellington Harbour Views

Welcome to Pukehuia Paradise — a peaceful, private retreat overlooking Wellington Harbour and the Remutaka Ranges.

Purpose-built to make the most of its spectacular outlook, this property was built in 2023 and sits privately at the rear of our property and has been designed as a place to slow down, switch off and enjoy the view. Surrounded by native bush and neighbouring reserve land, it has a wonderfully secluded feel, with native birds regularly passing through and birdsong providing the soundtrack to your mornings.

From the moment you arrive, the setting feels special. Full-length double-glazed windows frame sweeping views across Wellington Harbour, while the large outdoor deck gives you plenty of space to relax, enjoy a BBQ or simply sit back and take in the scenery.

One of the highlights of Pukehuia Paradise is the luxurious private spa. Whether you are soaking during the day with the harbour stretching out in front of you, relaxing at sunset, or watching Wellington’s lights begin to sparkle in the evening, it is an incredible place to unwind. The combination of privacy, bush surroundings, fresh air and expansive views gives the property a genuine retreat-like atmosphere.

Inside, the house is warm, comfortable and thoughtfully designed. It includes two bedrooms, one bathroom and an open-plan living and kitchenette area that flows directly onto the deck. The compact layout creates a cosy, intimate feel while still providing everything needed for a relaxing stay.

The master bedroom is particularly special. Open the double doors in the morning and take in the view without even leaving bed. Enjoy a slow breakfast, a coffee or simply lie back and watch the changing weather move across the harbour and ranges. It is one of those simple experiences that makes staying here memorable.

While the home can accommodate up to four guests, we feel Pukehuia Paradise is especially well suited to two adults looking for a quiet getaway, romantic escape or peaceful base while visiting Wellington. Couples tend to get the most from the sense of privacy, tranquillity and space.

The outdoor experience

The large deck is a natural extension of the living area and is one of the best places to spend your time. Fire up the BBQ, enjoy a drink outside on our large 6-seater stone table, relax in the spa or simply sit and listen to the birds.

The surrounding native setting creates a feeling of being tucked away from the world, yet you are still within easy reach of Wellington. Depending on the weather and time of day, the view can change dramatically — from calm blue harbour mornings to dramatic cloud formations over the Remutaka Ranges and beautiful evening lights across the city.

If you are looking for somewhere that feels private, peaceful and immersed in nature without needing to travel far from Wellington, this is exactly what we created Pukehuia Paradise for.

Kitchenette and cooking facilities

Pukehuia Paradise does not have a conventional full kitchen, so we like to make this clear before guests book.

There is no traditional oven or built-in hob. Instead, we provide a range of practical cooking options suitable for most short stays, including:

Air fryer
Electric frying pan
Microwave
Outdoor BBQ
Dishwasher

These appliances make it easy to prepare breakfast, simple meals, takeaway accompaniments or a relaxed BBQ dinner on the deck.

The dishwasher drawer is located inside a custom-built cupboard above the washing machine. Because of its position, some guests may prefer to use the footstool provided when loading or unloading it. It is a slightly unconventional arrangement created to make the most of the compact space, and we mention it simply so there are no surprises during your stay.

For guests who enjoy dining out, ordering in or exploring Wellington’s cafes and restaurants, the kitchenette setup generally works very well.

A place to truly unwind

Pukehuia Paradise is not intended to feel like a standard hotel room or city apartment. It is a small, private retreat created around the view, the surrounding environment and the opportunity to relax.

Wake to native birdsong. Open the bedroom doors and look across the harbour. Spend the afternoon exploring Wellington, then return for a BBQ and soak in the spa. On cooler evenings, head inside to the warmth of the cosy living area and enjoy the peaceful setting.

It is the kind of place where doing very little can be the best part of the stay.

We often describe it as a hidden oasis because, despite being in Wellington, the privacy and bush surroundings can make it feel like you are much further away. Once you are settled in, it can be surprisingly hard to leave.

Pukehuia Paradise is a great choice for:

Couples wanting a romantic Wellington escape
Anniversary or birthday stays
Weekend getaways
Visitors wanting a quieter alternative to the central city
Guests who value privacy, views and nature
Travellers looking for a peaceful base while exploring Wellington
Anyone who simply wants a spa, a beautiful view and some time to unwind

The property can be booked for up to four guests, but because of its compact size and retreat-style layout, we believe it is at its best when enjoyed by two adults.

What makes Pukehuia Paradise special

For us, it is the combination of everything that makes the property unique — the elevated harbour outlook, the Remutaka Range views, the native bush, the privacy, the birdsong, the large deck and the spa.

It feels peaceful during the day and especially atmospheric in the evening. The full-length glazing keeps the outlook connected to the interior, meaning the view remains part of the experience whether you are outside on the deck, relaxing in the living area or waking up in the master bedroom.

We have tried to create a space that feels comfortable, uncomplicated and memorable rather than overdone — somewhere you can arrive, settle in and immediately feel removed from the pace of everyday life.

If your idea of a great Wellington stay includes a private spa, stunning harbour views, native birds, peaceful surroundings and a cosy place to retreat at the end of the day, we think you will love Pukehuia Paradise.

Come for the view, stay for the serenity — and don’t be surprised if you find it difficult to leave.
