Perfect Getaway
It was a great place for our large family. The large room gave us all a place to gather, then have our own private time as well. The river was a plus, plenty of outside space and private.I will say if stairs are a factor there is a lot here, but The place was very clean well stocked and the host was right there to answer any question that came up. She was so kind and helpful, We plan to re-book again.. This was a wonderful cabin.

A hidden gem
We stayed at Bear Gone Fishing for a short visit to the area and could not have been more pleased. The location is terrific. The home sits right on a stream. We were fortunate to be visiting when the fall leaves were at their peak. The home is very clean, has lots of amenities and is very comfortable. We are keeping Bear Gone Fishing on our Favorites list and will return. Can't recommend this place enough.

Bear Gone Fishing Fall 2023
We enjoyed our family fall vacation at Bear Gone Fishing. We cooked together, ate together, piled on the couch and watched MNF one night and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny another night, explored the stream, and relaxed on the decks in the crisp fall air. Additionally, we read through your history books on Franklin, Highlands, and Cashiers and learned fascinating information about the area. The leaves were just beginning to turn beautiful hues of yellow, red, and orange. We enjoyed driving through the mountains and taking in the amazing views and beautiful scenery. We visited several waterfalls, including Whitewater Falls and Bridal Veil Falls. We explored Gorges State Park and Black Rock State Park. We loved the time we spent here and made many memories!

A Magical Mountain Escape
We rented this cabin for 8 nights in August to escape the sweltering Charleston heat. We were so charmed by the property with its enchanting trails and sound of the creek. The kids (aged 7, 10, and 13) loved exploring the creek and swimming/tubing in the swimming hole. It's so private as there are no real neighbors so it felt like having our own private creek. It was just a quick 15 minute drive into Highlands and only about 10 minutes to Dillard, GA. The (large) sauna was a fun surprise for my Canadian husband who was in heaven with the sauna and a cold creek to run into afterwards! We loved being able to bring our two dogs along and the property was very pet friendly. The beds were very comfortable and we all slept great with the sound of the creek. My husband and I both work remote and worked for most of our stay. I was concerned the internet would not be sufficient as it sometimes isn't with these types of rentals, but it was more than enough for us both to work and take calls while the kids used their iPads or watched tv. No dropped calls to report! The kitchens were well stocked and the temperature was cool and consistent throughout. The fire pit was in a great location and there were even cafe lights (my favorite) for an extra special touch by the fire. We will definitely rent this property again!

My family is from the Atlanta area and we visit Bear Gone Fishing at least once a month. I'm a hands-on host and want to make you are comfortable and have everything you need to enjoy your stay. It's always exciting when guests leave us notes telling us how much they appreciate our piece of paradise in the Highlands Plateau.

Why they chose this property

Private yet easy road access to 106/Dillard Road. Property has one of the best waterfronts in Scaly with your own backyard falls, trails, shoals, and baptizing holes for a nice dip. Lovely dirt road for nice long walks.

What makes this property unique

Great for families!! This property was built as a family getaway and it's magical. The setting is private and simply gorgeous. Our creek frontage on Middle Creek is a on shoals making it a unique and picturesque section of the creek. Throw in a line and see if you can catch one of those sneaky trout or take a dip to cool off. The house is spacious and comfortable with three decks for lounging and two fireplaces.
