Barn Owl Cabin - Lakefront Home with a Private Dock
This amazing home is located right on the lake. You couldn't be closer to the water. There is ample space for your friends and family to comfortably enjoy all that Lake Coeur d'Alene has to offer. There is a private gas grill on the deck, so you can have al-fresco meals with a 180-degree panoramic lake view. At the end of your day, relax in the private hot tub and gaze up at the night sky.
As is somewhat typical on Couer d’Alene lake there are stairs (100 newly built grippy steel stairs) that lead from the parking area to the cabin which is waterfront. Going forward you will need to use the described stairs to unload and load. The unloading road mentioned in a few reviews will no longer be available starting spring 2023.

The deck was perfect! We rented a boat and took the kids tubing! KC boat rentals. It was hard to find in the dark. Arrived at 2:30am after a full day at Glacier national park! I do not recommend if you
We absolutely loved our stay at the owl barn cabin. The home was clean and lovely and had everything we needed. The setting was ideal and we super appreciated that the hot tub had freshwater put in it right before we arrived— we are hot tub, snobs, and the freshwater made it usable. Dock was perfect. Lots of time spent out there playing swimming and boating.
I would definitely stay here again. The cabin was cozy and clean and had everything we needed for the week. The dock was new and nice. We really enjoyed the canoe and kayaks. It was easy to launch our boat, the marina was just a 5-10 minute boat ride away. We loved being so close to the water. The cabin has a black stone grill which we really enjoyed and now want to buy one. You are super close to the neighbors but they were not there until the last night. The cabin is close to beauty bay and another bay under the bridge, we spent a lot of time there fishing in the evenings. Thanks for a great week!
While the steps can be challenging, the comfort and views are worth each step. Our time was sad with 2 deaths of the firefighters in Canfield Park, but the 2 planes sweeping down on the lake was exciting for the kids as they repeatedly re-filled to suppress the fire. Our boats fit well on the docks and friends came to swim, eat, and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Thank you for time in paradise.
Our group loved the Barn Owl! We had 8 adults and a newborn that stayed here for 5 days. The kitchen is well stocked, the views are incredible, the deck became our living room for the weekend, the dock was spacious and fit all of us on it at the same time, the bonfire and hot tub also provided a great way to relax and spend time together - I cannot think of any negatives in our time at the barn owl. The property owner also went above and beyond to make sure that our needs were met and was incredibly quick to respond to any questions that we had. We would be back at the same time next year if the place wasn’t already booked! There is a lengthy staircase from the parking area down to the cabin but it isn’t anything that should prevent guests from staying here unless mobility is truly an issue.
This cabin was perfect for our five year nursing school reunion. It’s tucked away in the woods which was the environment we were looking to stay in, but also a quick drive away from downtown CDA. We rented a pontoon boat from CDA pontoons which was a fantastic way to spend our Saturday, and this cabin’s dock worked perfectly for the boat. They had temperature control in every room and the bathrooms were centrally located to all of the bedrooms, which was super convenient. It has plenty of deck and dock space to lay out and enjoy your trip. Everything was clean and comfortable, including the hot tub. Finally, they had great water toys. Highly recommend, we will be back!!!
The Barn Owl cabin was the perfect setting for a completely relaxing family vacation. We enjoyed the sunny deck and swimming in the warm water lake, canoeing
Our family stayed at the lake for a week and we had a wonderful time. The property was exactly what as advertised. Right on the lake! We would definitely go back!
Very nice stay and well stocked house. Communication with owner/vrbo was incredible. Loved the board games, cornhole, canoe, hot tub, and view. Will definitely return.
We had such a wonderful time with our kids making memories. This property offered stunning views right on the lake. The hot tub was great as well. Lots of laughs & memories made here.
Great cabin with most all amenities needed on Lake Coeur d'Alene in Harrison ID. It's a little out of the way but that was also a positive. Perfect for family retreat right on the lake!
What an amazingly beautiful location! The house was perfect for 5 adults. Loved all the outdoor seating and access to the water.
The stairs were a challenge, as there are many, but it just forced us to have all we need so we could take advantage of the property, which none of us complained about.
Thank you for opening up your home! We all want to come back again:-)

The location is great. We can dock our boat and have easy access to the lake. The kitchen has a lot of cookware and good set of dishes to use, very convenient. We like the DVD collections. We love all the water toys provided including floating toys and kayak. The kids loved the hot tub, have great time in the cabin.
We had a great time. The house was clean and looked just like the photos. It was great to be right on the lake with the dock. Canoe, and kayak. The parking was a little confusing, but we were the only car so it wasn’t a problem. I would have like some darker curtains in the rooms with the queen beds. The sun rose before 5:00 and by 5:30 we were up because it was so bright.
This property is absolutely beautiful. The property manager was so easy to work with and very accommodating. The unit was extremely well stocked with everything you could need. We had such a great time.
My only word of caution is to be prepared for the "trip" from the parking area to the cabin and back.. It is literally 100 stairs, so unloading and loading was a bit challenging.
The Barn Owl Cabin offered everything we were hoping for in terms of comfort and coziness...and more! The well-equipped kitchen (including blender that we used for our homemade salsa), aquatic toys (canoe & kayak), hot tub (perfect for the cooler weather we had early on), corn hole set (when it got warmer), and fire pit (including skewers for Smore roasting) made our stay filled with fun and lasting memories. We also rented a pontoon boat (which we were able to keep overnight at the provided dock) that allowed us to take long tours around the lake. And while we were certainly impressed with the dozens of lake-side mansions situated around the lakeshore, Iʻm not sure any of them come close to the charm, fun, and comfort of the Barn Owl Cabin. We definitely hope another stay is in our future.
This was the perfect lake cabin for our family vacation! Check in was easy! Property manager allowed us to check in early and check out late! The whole house including kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked! Plenty of space for 5 adults and 2 teenagers. The dock was only a few steps away and it was brand new and nice! Extra chairs to sit on the dock and tons of floaties. The hot tub was nice in the evening and one day when it rained on us. Perfect patio for the adults to watch kiddos swimming and sitting out in the morning and nights. The BQQ had a full tank of propane and an extra tank! Property manager was responsive, answered calls/texts when we first arrived and got a bit lost. Close to downtown CDA and less than an 20min boat ride to the resort! Perfect location of boating, tubing and getting out of the “hub” of the lake. Overall, was a fun week and would definitely come back again!!

Trouble in Paradise
Our family had a great stay at this property 80% of the time, but I wouldn't recommend it unless the negatives are addressed by the property owners. POSITIVES: location incredible; views are majestic; the house was well-appointed, cozy and very clean; the dock and boat slip perfectly convenient; nice deck/outdoor seating area. NEGATIVES: undisclosed legal easement allows neighbors on both sides to come and go across the property anytime, so there's no privacy outside; septic smell was wafting in the air periodically.
