5BR Family Log Cabin Near Bryson, NOC & Fontana - Hot Tub, Game Room & Fire Pit
Better Together Lodge is a spacious 5BR/3BA family log cabin in Almond, NC, near Bryson City, Fontana Lake, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Tsali, and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
With over 3,400 sq ft across three stories, three covered porches, a private fenced backyard, hot tub, game room, fire pit, Starlink internet, and space for up to 12 guests, our cabin is made for family gatherings, train trips, rafting weekends, biking, hiking, lake days, motorcycle rides, and multi-generational mountain getaways.
*What Makes Us Unique*
Better Together Lodge is our family's mountain home, and we spend part of each year here ourselves. That is why it is stocked and set up for real family gatherings, from multi-generational train trips to long weekends with friends.
• Private, fenced backyard, a rare find in the Smokies. Great for kids, yard games, fire pit nights, and relaxing outside after a day of adventure. • Game room built for all ages, with a 4-player classic arcade, pool table, air hockey, board games, DVDs, children's toys, and a dock for your Nintendo Switch. • Thoughtful extras throughout, including high-speed Starlink internet, a fully stocked kitchen, Roku TVs, a wood-burning fireplace, a pack 'n play, and a high chair.
*Why Families & Groups Like the Layout*
With three levels, Better Together Lodge gives families room to spread out without feeling disconnected. Kids and teens often claim the downstairs game room, while adults gather on the main floor, porches, or around the fire pit. For multi-family trips, one family can settle into the main and upper floors while another uses the lower-level bedrooms and game room.
The home has plenty of shared space too, including an open living and dining area, three covered porches, a large fenced backyard, and a covered hot tub that sits elevated among the trees. In summer, the views are peaceful and wooded. In winter, the leaves open up to reveal more of the surrounding mountains.
*Easy Location Without a Long Mountain Drive*
One thing guests love about our location is how easy it is to get out and explore. The cabin is tucked into a mountain neighborhood, but we are right off the highway, so you can quickly reach Bryson City, Fontana Lake, the Nantahala Outdoor Center, Tsali, Deep Creek, and other area favorites.
In the mountains, distance can be deceiving. A home that looks closer on a map may take longer to reach if it is high up a winding mountain road. Our location keeps you close to the places guests usually want to visit while making the drive in and out simpler, faster, and more predictable.
*Neighborhood Road & Access*
The cabin is reached by a well-maintained gravel mountain road. No 4x4 or AWD is required, and most guests have no trouble reaching the home. Like many mountain neighborhoods in this area, the final stretch is a narrow gravel road, about one-third of a mile long. There are places to pull aside and let another vehicle pass if you encounter one of our neighbors, but we like guests to know what to expect before arriving.
*Lake & Water Access Nearby*
Guests have access to a private neighborhood lake/pond that is a short walk down the hill or an even shorter drive. It is open to guests for swimming and fishing.
Fontana Lake is also very close. The nearest marina is just across the highway, and our preferred marina is about a 10-minute drive. Finger Lake is nearby as well, roughly 10 minutes away, and is a great spot for paddle boards and swimming.
*Sleeping Arrangements*
• Bedroom 1: Queen bed + Roku TV (Sleeps 2) • Bedroom 2: Queen bed + twin pull-out sofa (Sleeps 3) • Bedroom 3: Full bed + twin bunk + twin trundle, ideal for kids (Sleeps 4) • Bedroom 4: Queen bed (Sleeps 2) • Bedroom 5: Queen bed (Sleeps 2) • Living Area: Queen sleeper sofa (Sleeps 2)
*Main Floor*
The heart of the home features soaring ceilings, a warm wood-burning fireplace, and an open-concept living and dining area. The fully stocked kitchen includes pots, pans, dishware for a crowd, and a high chair.
Step directly from the dining area onto the covered back porch, which features two picnic tables, ample seating, a Weber Genesis grill with propane provided, and a covered 5-person hot tub.
The front porch offers rocking chairs and mountain views, an ideal spot for morning coffee or sunset unwinding.
This level also features the primary suite, a comfortable queen bedroom with a Roku TV, direct access to a full bath with a shower/tub combo, and a large walk-in closet.
*Upstairs*
A quiet retreat with two cozy bedrooms, a peaceful reading nook, a pack 'n play, and a dedicated remote work area with Starlink internet, a laptop stand, and a monitor that doubles as a Roku TV. You will also find two massage chairs and a shared full bath with a shower/tub combo.
*Downstairs*
The lower level is designed for fun and relaxation, with a 4-player classic arcade, pool table, air hockey, queen sleeper sofa, Roku TV, DVDs, board games, children's toys, free weights, and a dock for your Nintendo Switch. This level also has a shared full bath and direct access to the backyard.
*Fenced Backyard with Hot Tub, Fire Pit & Covered Bar*
The main porch includes ample seating, two picnic tables, a Weber Genesis grill, and a covered 5-person hot tub.
The lower porch includes a covered outdoor bar, stainless steel cooler, decorative lighting, and an additional picnic table.
The yard is flat, spacious, and fully enclosed with classic split-rail fencing. Enjoy the hammock, stone fire pit with optional grill top, and plenty of room for corn hole or other backyard games.

We loved this cabin! Super private, roomy, well built and plenty of space for us to cook and eat large group meals. Really close to the lake as well (by car). Hot tub was great. Would recommend for large groups for sure!
Great property. Everything was clean and plenty of space. Well stocked kitchen cookware and utensils. Easy to locate and access, but quiet. Had a couple of questions about the property while on site, hosts were prompt to respond.
The place was fantastic and very well kept. Would absolutely recommend to anyone needing a place for a larger group! A bunch of fun activities in the area, and you will enjoy the serenity!
We had a wonderful stay at this Vrbo and would definitely book again. The home was clean, well-maintained, and exactly as described in the listing no surprises, which is always appreciated. The layout worked very well for our group, with comfortable beds and plenty of space to relax. The kitchen was well equipped, making it easy to cook meals, and the common areas were perfect for spending time together. Everything we needed was provided, from linens to basic household supplies. The location was another big plus. It was convenient to nearby attractions, restaurants, and stores, while still being quiet and peaceful. Parking and check-in were straightforward, which made arrival stress-free.The host was responsive and easy to communicate with before and during our stay. Clear instructions were provided, and any questions we had were answered quickly.
Our family had a wonderful time together in this lovely cabin! The floor plan allowed us plenty of room to be comfortable, but also to share large family meals together. The host was very kind and attentive during our stay. We would certainly stay here again.
Our pastors used this cabin for their annual retreat, and it fit their needs perfectly - clean, comfortable, cozy, private, and well-stocked. Alex was a wonderful and communicative host, and when there was a need, Tammy was quick to handle it. Highly recommend this space!
Perfect gathering spot for family adventure with people of multiple ages. Something for everyone. Hosts were friendly and overall a fantastic experience
This is a beautiful home. It is very private and felt like a very safe place. We were within 30 minutes of Bryson City, the Cherokee Casino, tubing and golf. So will go back to this location.
Our experience of the cabin was very accurate to the listing and even better than expected. Game room, hot tub, and fire pit were a hit with the youth. Cooking on the grill was great. Cabin had everything we needed.
Good location close to Bryson City but up on a nearby mountain. House was great, everything was as advertised and kitchen utensils are very well stocked, along with a pretty much brand new Weber grill. Overall it was exactly what we were looking for.
Great place; very comfortable. Only recommendation would be bring your own pillows-they Could stand to be updated! Also one tv during football season is tough with kids! Game room was great!!
Highly recommend!
Perfect place to have a Thanksgiving get together. Property is well maintained and very comfortable. Owner thought of many small details for guests. A perfect mountain log home setting. Lots for the little and not so little kids to do. Would definitely come back.
The cabin was very comfortable and just as advertised. We had three families and each had their own floor with bedrooms. It worked perfectly for us. We will be back to visit again
Everything met our expectations and MORE! We had an incredible time at this beautiful cabin. Alex checked on us by text multiple times to make sure we had everything we needed. This was a family trip we will never forget. Also, the location was perfect for everything we wanted to do… hiking to see beautiful water falls, snow boarding & skiing, snow tubing and mountain coaster, and an amazing trip on the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad!

About the host
Hosted by Alex
I’m a husband and father who works in the technology sector. Our family lives in Florida, but we are in the Carolinas as often as we can be. Better Together Lodge is our family’s mountain home, and we love sharing it with guests who want to gather, explore, and make memories in the Smokies.
Why they chose this property
Owning a cabin was a life goal for us. We wanted a rural mountain setting that still made it easy to reach the places we love: hiking trails, lakes, rafting, small mountain towns, and the National Park. My wife and I had traveled to this region for years, and when our kids were old enough, we decided it was time to make it happen. The Smoky Mountains are perfect for our family.
What makes this property unique
We fell in love with this cabin right away. It has enough bedrooms and space for family and friends, a warm main living area for relaxing by the fire or sharing big family dinners, peaceful porches, a fenced backyard, a large hot tub, and an awesome game room.
The neighborhood is a big part of what makes it special. It is tucked into the mountains just off the highway, with a shared valley area and a spring-fed neighborhood lake that is great for swimming in the summer. It is also close to Fontana Lake, Bryson City, Nantahala, Tsali, and the National Park. It is hard to find a place that gives you space, easy access, and so much to do nearby, but we feel like Better Together Lodge really does.
