Beautiful home and Lake Michigan beach

The home was very clean and looked just like the photos. The hardwood floors are beautiful. The kitchen was current and well supplied. The internet and tv worked. The beach and sand in the lake were as beautiful as any in the U.S. or the world. There was a lot to do in the area also.

Lovely Beach Vacation Spot in W Mich

We had a wonderful time with our friends while visiting this spacious home in West Michigan. The beach was a short walk down the dune, and it was a broad, white sand beach where we often had it all to ourselves. There was plenty of room for two families of four, and the teenagers enjoyed the ping pong table. The kitchen was well equipped and we picked blueberries one day and had everything we needed to make jam. We loved it. Beautiful views, great porches, and plenty of room to relax.

Great Family Winter Adventure

We were looking for a place to go for a long weekend to celebrate my daughter's birthday. We were looking for a place that could hold us and one other family comfortably and had access to snow. This house ticked all the boxes. Simply speaking, the house is amazing. The layout was great to limit TV, increase cooking and hanging out time, and also provided separate area for sleeping/naps. The surrounding area is also great. We went over to the nearby park and went sledding on the dunes, but found that the driveway was steep enough we could do some sledding with the little ones. If you drive a bit, the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex is worth the trip. TLDR; We all had a fantastic time and would go back in a heartbeat. Only gotcha is the cell service is limited because of the dunes. Make sure you have the key code before you leave.

Amazing views, well appointed house, awesome trip.

We were extremely impressed by this property. The views from the decks were amazing, and even when the rain and wind drove us inside for a few hours, there were so many windows that we still had lake everywhere we looked. One of the highlights was grilling on the deck, eating overlooking the water, and then sitting around the fire table as the stars came out. The house itself had plenty of room for the four of us. Beds were comfy, bathrooms fully functional, and the kitchen had everything we needed (with the one exception of a kettle, but we made do). The selection of books and games in the living room were unexpected, but a lot of fun. We had a great time learning to play "There's a Moose in the House", and I was tempted to abandon the book I had brought and start a new one. The location was incredibly quiet. We saw an eagle, a herd of deer, and rabbits every day. We had a great time walking down to the dunes, running down them, and splashing in the lake. Pretty much every detail was accounted for. We didn't try out the TV/DVDs/Video games, but the WiFi was strong enough to stream shows on an iPad and find maps for the days' adventures. Plenty of hot water for showers. Lots of blankets and pillows to cozy up by the fireplace or wrap up while stargazing. Some things to note that were not a problem for us, but should be considered if you're planning to stay here: - There are lots of stairs. Kitchen is on the 2nd floor, bedrooms on the 3rd floor, so be prepared to haul stuff. The views make it worth the steps, though. - Parking more than one car would be exciting. The driveway is steep with loose gravel, and our Honda Odyssey did not make it up. We opted for parallel parking on the grass at the foot of the path. Once we figured it out, it wasn't an issue. - The nearby beach access stairs were blocked off, as of early April 2021. It looked like you could still get down to the beach from there, but we opted to go to the park at the end of the road instead. This wasn't entirely unexpected, as most parks and beaches are still in winter mode this time of year. All in all, we had a great trip, wish we could have stayed longer, and will have to check back early to score some summer 2022 dates.

We had the best time at this spot! Easily fit all ten of us with the main level great for hanging out even while cooking. The best part was the proximity to Lake Michigan. While not directly on the water it sits up on a hill so it feels like you’re there. Maybe 60 feet from a lovely private beach where watching the sunset was the best I’ve ever seen. We even did a few nights just staring at the stars. The hosts were very responsive, when we got there the AC was struggling but they got a repair person out first thing and fixed it right away.I’m already planning my next trip back. Who needs the ocean with a setting like this!

Stunning views!

First off, it looks like you’re going to the middle of nowhere until you come around the corner and see the stunning view of the lake. It’s a private subdivision located on the side of Sand dunes. It’s in a heavily wooded area surrounding it. About a 15 minute drive to local stores like Walmart, or even McDonald’s. Easily accessible from the highway. The home itself came with all needed amenities, including a full use laundry room. It had three total bedrooms and an additional room that you could use as additional bedroom with a pullout couch. The driveway was rather steep and a little nerve-racking when trying to pull in and out of it. But it’s as expected as it was on the side of a Sand dune. Other than that, no complaints at all. Would definitely consider returning to this property specifically.

Relaxing vacation away from the hustle of a city

We loved our stay, this was our first time in 5 years breaking our tradition of going to Florida for the 4th! The property is actually bigger to me than in the photos! And just as nice! We loved the house and the room it had to offer! Between 2 families (4 adults, 4 girls 2.5-14yrs) we had plenty of room to get little ones to bed before others and no one was on top of each other getting ready. We LOVED the area, the beach, the woods, and the people in the neighborhood were so nice! I will say that if you are looking for something that is close to a town with plenty of dining options this may not be for you. It’s about 15 minutes to town and not a whole lot of options. That doesn’t mean that what is there isn’t amazing, because it was. Overall I can’t say anything bad about the property or the area! We had a great time and 10/10 would recommend and definitely would love to come back again!

About the host

Hosted by Kristina and Rich

Host profile image
Rich and Kristina bought this house in 2020 during summer of Covid as an escape from their urban lives outside of Chicago. They are thrilled to share their peaceful getaway with others looking to slow down and relax in a beautiful beachside setting.

Why they chose this property

The second we set eyes on this house we knew it was the perfect vacation home. When you emerge out of the winding woods, turn onto the road, and see the vast deep blue waves of Lake Michigan, it will take your breath away. As a family that relocated from the east coast, we love Lake Michigan because it is as close as you can get to ocean living while still being in the midwest. This house is unlike other vacation homes in that it provides all the comfortable modern conveniences of home, but in a spectacular resort like setting.

What makes this property unique

+ We love its proximity to the beach. You literally open the door and walk a few steps and you are swimming in the water. We also love being able to take long walks on the beach whenever we want.
+ The large 3 decks make it ideal for hanging out with a glass of wine and soaking in the views.
+ We love that Meinert Park is at the end of the road. There is nothing more exhilarating that climbing up a large dune and then running down at top speed!
+ We love that the house is close to nearby shopping and restaurants and also activities like horseback riding and biking trails.
