This is the backyard. It doesn’t get any closer. It doesn’t get any better. Take out the kayaks and enjoy a beautiful relaxing evening. The water levels for this day were low so we had a nice beach, but a beach is not guaranteed.

This is a family's dream vacation spot. Looking for a peaceful getaway with stunning views of Lake Michigan? There is something for every member of the family. Private beach access. Listen to the waves right outside the windows as you rest comfortably in the Master Bedroom. The stairs go straight to the water! Relax with family and friends, while you make unforgettable memories. Large comfortable patio furniture on the deck. Hanging hammock chairs facing the lake. Sunbathe on the deck with your favorite drink, or watch the stars at night, keeping warm by the fire pit as the kids make s'mores. The kids can climb the sand dunes down the road for some fun and exercise. Closed-in giant sandbox with toys for kids. Enjoy the kayaks, paddleboards, and paddleboat on the big lake. Take long walks down the beautiful community beach road. Movie theatre, shopping and Michigan's Adventure is only minutes away. There is also an amazing bike trail in town with great small town restaurants and shops of all kinds to experience. One of our favorites places and a local gem is "The Book Nook" where you can bring your laptop and enjoy a coffee or meal made to order. This really is one of those hidden gems that very few know about. Our intention is that you have a 5 star experience. The only downside to staying at this cottage is you won't want to leave!

This house comfortably sleeps 9 people (4 bedrooms and 2 baths)

Brand new deck and seawall. New water system for fresh clean drinking water out of the faucet. New air conditioning unit provided for hot summer days. New patio furniture.
*Wifi - Lightning Speed
* 2 Smart TV's, Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Disney Channel is included.
* Cell service (spotty) ..AT&T service seems to work better than Verizon.
* Land line with complimentary long distance service is provided.

Upper Level= 2 huge picture windows facing the lake and sunsets, full kitchen, cozy living room, sunroom to enjoy family meals, large spacious bathroom, 2 bedrooms each with queen beds.
Lower Level= good for kids, large family room, 1 bedroom w/ queen bed, 1 bedroom with 1 double bed and 1 single bed. Bathroom, washer & dryer. Downstairs refrigerator too.
* DOGS are absolutely not permitted (POA rule) You may see dogs in the valley, however it's only because cottage owners are allowed pets, not renters.

**Accessibility Note - There are 4 small steps near the driveway to the deck. Once on the deck, there is a fairly smooth entrance to top floor living area which is suitable for an entire stay. There is a staircase (about 20 -30 steps) to downstairs living area and lower deck.

** Entire Property is Non Smoking - The outside patio furniture WILL smell like smoke if there are smokers present. This will result in a $500 damage fee.

** Event Policy - Large Events are not allowed. Ok for family gatherings during the day, however, evening parties and loud music and noise is strictly prohibited past 11pm.

Glorious views, Great House

Everything about our stay was awesome. Owners and neighbors were great, the house had so much to offer and was more than enough room for a family of 5. Multiple decks, screened porch, kayaks and paddle board, I and the access and views of Lake Michigan were unbeatable.

The Magic of Montague

Life is better at the lake!

Lost Valley is a hidden gem! From the calming sounds of the waves to the amazing sunsets and star gazing after dark, the cottage has everything you need to enjoy all the beauty Lake Michigan has to offer. The Secret Place in Lost Vally

Had a fantastic week at this property. Owners were great to work with. Brand new 2 level deck with stairs directly into the Lake. Water was perfect and the evening sunset paddleboard right from the deck was great. Many amenities; gas grill, fire pit, 2 paddleboards, 2 kayaks. Access to Meindert State Park at end of the road. Beautiful house and location. Would recommend to any family looking for a fun and peaceful vacation.

If you’re looking for downtime, this is the place for you. Neighbors are friendly, and hosts will make sure you are taken care of. If there are any concerns, they will address it asap. They also provided us some great recommendations for bike trails.

Lovely Family Vacation Spot!

You just can't describe the lovely views from the deck! The house is very clean, great location - short walk to the beach at Meinert Park. We had a blast on the kayaks/paddle boards and used the wagon to haul our stuff to the beach. Mother nature definitely threw us some curves for our week here, but we loved playing games from the covered porch. We explored Montague and several other nearby towns. The property had plenty of space for our family and Dawn's communication is superb! Highly recommended for a low-key family vacation!

Wonderful Holiday!

We very much enjoyed our two weeks! We spent most of our time on the beautiful deck. Things we loved about the rental: comfortable seating both inside and outside, comfortable beds, plenty of towels (including kitchen ones!), hearing the waves from wherever you were, beautiful sunsets, and having time to relax. The house was extremely clean. We had plenty of room for 6 adults of various ages. Very responsive owner and great communication. Would highly recommend this rental and we would love to stay again.

Amazing sunsets-Great louse layout

First, the home owners were super communicative up to and throughout our stay. There was a minor issue with one of the A/C units and they were right on top of it. Second, such a great layout for groups with lots of areas to spread out and the decks are beyond amazing! While the kitchen is small, it is decently stocked and having the second fridge and bar area in the lower area alleviated a lot of kitchen congestion. Great house! Beautiful sunsets!

Lake Michigan Gem

You can't get a more idyllic location. Updates throughout, while still maintaining the charm of vacation days past. So many places to hang out, but we just wanted to be out on the deck as much as possible! Sitting in a hammock watching a spectacular sun set is the best. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of waves is so relaxing. House is immaculately clean. Hosts are so welcoming. Beaches to walk to in both directions - loved climbing the dunes. A perfect summer getaway!

Cozy cottage on the lake with the best views, fabulous location, excellent hosts

This getaway was just what our family needed. Dawn could not have been more communicative and accommodating wherever needed. The cottage is right on the lake, it felt very private, and the double deck was amazing for adults and children alike. My parents, my husband and infant, and my sister's family including two elementary school aged boys stayed here for about a week. We had ample space to socialize as well as go off to get some alone time. The lower floor with two bedrooms and showered was like a separate residence for my sister's family, it was the perfect arrangement. We hope to stay here again. My mother, in particular, who is going through treatment for GBM, had the most memorable time, and that was our primary goal.

Hidden Gem!

I almost don't want to say anything about how beautiful it is along this stretch of Lake Michigan so people will not want to go there, but the fact is that it is amazing. It's hard to explain how magical it is there, really. The 'Lakefront Beach Resort' was retro, but not rundown, and very clean and well-appointed. The hosts even provided a thoughtful and delicious welcome basket. Just a short drive to Montague/Whitehall, and the Silver Lake Dunes, Muskegon, Pentwater, and Ludington are not too much farther away. Nice, reasonably priced golf course nearby, too. Just a heads up that when they say the cell service is rough, they absolutely mean it (Verizon). All in all, we'd highly recommend a stay!

This place is just WOW!!!

We sooooo enjoyed our stay! You won’t find a better place to enjoy sunsets every single night! The communication with the owner is phenomenal. The house is clean, spacious, has very comfortable mattresses, and you have every kitchen essential you will need and more! All seven of us took baths/showers in a row one night and we never ran out of hot water. The double deck is an outdoor oasis with shaded seating, lounge chairs for the sun, table with chairs and umbrella for enjoying eating outdoors, fire pit, grill, Adirondack chairs and my grandsons’ favorite - a sandbox with awesome toys! My grown sons enjoyed kayaking every single day. We made a short walk to the beach and enjoyed playing in the water and sand. This is a place we would love to come back to every summer!

Disappointing

The A/C was substandard. The house was smaller than anticipated. Main dining area was in the sunroom and cramped. The lower floor was musty smelling and the whole house was really dated. We had 7 adults and 1 infant. Beds were adequate and linens were clean. Access to the beach was treacherous as you have to climb over sea wall comprised of giant rocks. . Lastly, you only have access to maybe 25% of the beach. Pay close attention to the property line and understand your being watched on the beach camera. The area and nearby town was great, restaurants and grocery are close. One more thing, only 1 curbside trash can.

Breck grew up in Chicago and enjoyed spending summers with his family in the beautiful setting of Lost Valley overlooking Lake Michigan. His favorite hobbies include sailing, wind surfing, fishing, swimming, long walks on the beach and jet skiing.
Today, Breck and Dawn are happily married with with 2 beautiful children and spend as much time as they can at the cottage when there are no renters and they are not in Florida, their primary home. They have decided to give others the same opportunity by helping them have the best experience possible for their vacation getaway.

This property has everything a family would want for the perfect get-away.
It's tucked away in a private quiet association. The driveway leading up the cottage itself has beautiful scenery.
Shopping and grocery stores are only 15 minutes away.

What makes this property unique

The sunsets are truly breathtaking. The oversized deck has lots of seating and the hanging hammock chairs facing the water are everyone's favorite.
