Updated turn of the century farm house - The Attic is the upper floor of this frontier home. Come enjoy a touch of history as you explore and make memories in Southern Utah. This home has its roots in early polygamy history of the area as well as a farmhouse and early 'garage' for model A's and T's as the automobile made its way west. As the city and area grew its been a retail store front on the highway on your way to Zion National Park.
Escape Properties are here as a tool during your stay, but we try to stay out of your way as you enjoy your vacation. If you need us we are here!
Common Space: The property has a separate two-bedroom suite downstairs (rented separately) that shares common area spaces which are the laundry facility, deck and BBQ grill/picnic table.
Parking is available behind the home.
The homes last commercial venture was as an old army surplus and camping gear store. In recent history before the current owners bought this property it was painted a bright yellow and blue and was known as the 'sunshine' home.
Today we've updated it as best we can without compromising its character. We added a fire suppression system and integrated smoke detection systems, we've added a modern laundry facility.
Where this home was built and modified over time, it does share the heating and cooling system with the lower unit. As such we have also added a stand alone AC unit and portable heaters so you can control your climate. At the back of the building, common area, is a large covered patio with BBQ, picnic table.
Due to its age, there are unique characteristics that one should be mindful of - first is the home was built when electricity was considered a luxury and was not common in Southern Utah. This home was also designed and built before the concept of indoor plumbing. Modifications to add outlets, adjust walls for a modern bathroom working with the building materials and construction techniques of that era do make for some challenges. The home's location on the lot also is unique in that it is not set back from the road by 20-25 feet. The home has never moved, but as the community grew and needs of modern transportation changed, the roads have encroached on it. But this is the charm and experience this property offers.
The bedroom has a comfy queen bed and sleeps 1-2 persons.
In the living room is the kitchenette and a futon sofa bed. It is a full size but we suggest that it only sleeps 1 person.
There is not a door dividing the two areas. If you need extra bedding for the futon, please contact us. We will direct you where and how to get items from the laundry area.
The property has a separate 2 bedroom suite below (rented separately) that shares common area space. In this space is the laundry facility as well as the bbq grill/picnic table. The units main Heating/Cooling is controlled by the lower unit. Therefore we have provided the fireplace (Elec. Heater) and a separate AC unit in addition so you can control your climate. You may need to open or close floor vents accordingly.

A friend and I stayed here while visiting Zion for a few days. Property was close to restaurants and day hikes. The hottub was great after the long days on our feet.
Thank you for your feedback, Brittany! We’re glad you stayed with us and appreciate you pointing out the missing futon sheets. We’ll make sure extra bedding is always available moving forward. We hope to host you again for an even smoother stay next time!
We stayed at the Atomic Love Shack in mid December. We checked in late Friday night so it was very cold. Air conditioner was on and there was only a small space heater. It took all night to heat up the small studio. No hot water. Spoke to Alyse the next morning. We went hiking all day and when we returned they had left a larger heater and hot water. Very responsive and helpful. We are already planning our next trip to Zions and will stay there again.
Avoid booking this place at all cost! Never got access to enter the place, called the property manager more than 30 times, never got an answer back. After flying and driving to get there found myself outside the property at 11:00 pm without access. The property manager said they are refunding the money, it's been 2 weeks, never got anything.

Yep - this review is accurate (mostly). I too would not be happy. We had a tech. issue on sending instructions during our phone system and guest portal change over. Bad timing. Our guest got caught in the mix and we failed. We have corrected/addressed the issue and yes, the guest has been refunded and I have attempted a personal call to them. We wish this traveler all the best - this is 100% our error.
This place is just the top unit of the house. If you’re tall like me you will hit your head multiple times moving throughout the unit. We never received check in or check out instructions. Finding someone to communicate with was a time consuming process. You’re not allowed to control the AC unit so if the guests downstairs are hot the heater will not come on, so they are basically in control of the temperature in both units. The water in the shower is not hot at certain times of day which really sucks. Both units have the same door code so there’s no real security. The location was convenient and there’s plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. I would not stay here again.

We've stated in the listing that its an attic conversion and that the ceilings are low - its part of the charm and experience of the pioneer home. Guest should have known this before arrival. It is what it is. As far as hot water, its a 50 gallon heater. No other concerns that I am aware of. Sorry if the water was cold for you.
As far as locks go, we've changed out to a smart home lock system. The codes change for every guest.
The crows nest was a great stay. Check in and check out instructions we’re clearly communicated through a link that the property managers shared a few days before check in. The link also included suggestions on local restaurants which we used as well as activities and shopping opportunities that were in town. Only drawback was the heating situation. The upstairs and downstairs unit share one thermostat that is located in the downstairs unit. The upstairs unit has a mobile ac unit which works fine. Just have to find the right balance to be comfortable. Overall great stay.
Overall a good stay. Hot tub was nice after hiking Zion all day. A little smaller than anticipated but not an issue. NEEDS MORE OUTLETS 😂 an extra power strip in the bedroom would go a long way!

Thanks for the insight. The unit has lath & plaster walls - historic home. Adding more outlets has its challenges.
Price was good. If you struggle with car noise this is not a place you will want to stay. It is right on state street we used the remote ac unit to take away some of the road noise. Considering the price and the road noise, place was clean. We would stay there again.

Happy you enjoyed your stay with us! Hope we can host you again!
Great location with easy drives to Zion, Kolob, Bryce, Escalante Grand Staircase, and several slot canyons. Hurricane was a great choice for other reasons, including: groceries, restaurants (including the amazing Muddy Bee Bakery), gas, ice, etc. Our unit was cozy and well-appointed. Clean and tidy. Very unique space in an old attic with nice updates. Great use of the space. Loved the blinds - no cords! Wish there had been a lamp (standing lamp would have been great). Overhead lighting was wonderful, but too bright if someone wanted to go to bed before the other. Loved the shower amenities, nice lotion, fluffy towels, etc. The outdoor hot tub was wonderful!!! Even with ambient light of town, star-gazing was really nice while soaking. The size and location were perfect for a 5-night stay to explore the area. The hot tub was a welcomed respite at the end of each day of hiking.

Glad you enjoyed your stay! We hope we get to host for you again soon!
The description of this property needs to be better described. It's a two unit building, one downstairs and one upstairs. The stairs are hard for older adults. You share the hot tub with the other guests. The pull out is uncomfortable. There is no table and chairs to eat on. The bathroom had a sewer odor. There is no kitchen. Or kitchenet. No sink other then the bathroom sink.
The fridge is in the bedroom.
It’s in a good location. Close to Zion without having to pay Springdale prices for a room. Plenty of other parks like sand hollow and red cliffs are both within 15 min drive.

We enjoyed hosting your group. Hope we host for you again soon!
It was just OK, with a lot of caveats:
There is construction going on right behind the building that started at 7 a.m. each morning we stayed. We were not informed of this upond booking or anytime afterward. This caused us to cut our stay a day short.
There were no promised instructions to operate the hot tub and the hot tub was dirty! We called to complain and were told it would be serviced that day. It wasn't. One of the main reasons I booked the place was for use of the hot tub. Nada.
The unit is located on the town's busiest road and on a blind curve. It's challenging getting into traffic and it's a loud road from 6 am until 10 pm at least. There was no warning of this in the listing.
The unit itself is nice and well-equipped, but the futon/couch in the living room is really cheap/worn/dirty and uncomfortable to even sit on. The laundry room (free) and game room are nice as is the grill. But if you are over 5-foot-9, there are angles in the rooms and doorways that will be challenging. The only sink in the unit is in the bathroom, so doing any dishes is a challenge. The hot tub would be cool if it were clean and more privacy.
The management company is just that and involves a certain level of beauracracy to deal with. Odd that they encourage you to rebook and skip using VRBO next time.
Finally, while they did quickly refund a day's rent; they did not compensate me for lack of a usable hot tob for two days or the inconvenience of having to find a new, acceptable and more expensive place to stay for our third night in the region.
