Once again, the PERFECT getaway!

Last year we stayed for half a week. We dreamt of it so much that this time we stayed a whole week. It is so incredibly hard to leave this beautiful house and POOL. So clean inside and out. Can’t wait til next time!

The sweet stay at the SALT NOOK COTTAGE.

The house was absolutely perfect and the location was in the heart of Southport. We had a perfect week of weather and the town of Southport could not be more charming.

Cozy, clean & fun!

The cottage has been beautifully restored and has great spaces for rest & conversation both indoors and out. It is on a quiet street but within a 15 minute walk of the marina and downtown areas. Everything we needed was provided - sheets, towels, soap, tp, etc. We were planning to cook so we brought some pots & pans because we weren’t sure what would be available. We needn’t have because this kitchen had almost anything you could want (except maybe a KitchenAid mixer 😁) Our only negative comment would be that there isn’t actually a hot tub as advertised. There is a separate seating area in the pool but it isn’t heated and we were told not to turn the spa on. Everything else was great and we would definitely stay there again.

Fabulous Stay

Had a wonderful stay at this property. It’s a quiet neighborhood but close enough to walk into town. Beautiful kitchen with modern appliances is open to the comfortable living room. Really enjoyed the swimming pool at the end of the day. Property management was very responsive. Would definitely recommend and stay again!

Love this spot!

We spent a long weekend at the Salt Nook and we’ve wanted to come here for a long time. Cleanest rental I’ve ever stayed in. The house was perfect. We wanted to lounge in the pool all weekend unfortunately it felt like a hot tub. Hopefully we can go back when the water is cooler although the guy who came to clean the pool said it’s always hot. I’d love it in the fall. But on a 93 degree day you need a place to take a cool dip. Everything else was perfection. Great house. Loved every inch of it.

Perfect home

The property is gorgeous and has all the conveniences to make your stay in Southport comfortable and memorable. This is the first time I have stayed in a corporate owned home and the difference is in the signs throughout the spaces. Lot's of signs saying what not to do, where not to go, and how not to act. No welcoming notes, or book to help you better enjoy the beautiful sights and restaurants that Southport offers. The house is a five, the vibe you get from the signs around the house is a big fat NO!

Wonderful vacation!

After staying at a few other rentals in this area over the years, I tempered my expectations coming in, but I didn’t need to! This property felt brand new (appliances, furniture) and cleaner than anywhere we have ever stayed. The floor plan was great because the bedrooms and bathrooms were spacious and comfortable while also having the option to socialize in the large open space with the living room, dining room and kitchen. The pool was probably the highlight of our trip—my son absolutely loved being able to go swimming every day! The house had most necessities covered, such as TP, hand soap, trash bags. The bath towels were nice and fluffy—not at all like the usual rental service towels! The location is convenient to the downtown and the waterfront areas of Southport. We drove to Caswell beach one day, but I think we actually had more fun in the pool! A few cons for us: The pool house space was just ok. A mini fridge would be a great upgrade. There were also some small insects (ants, spiders), but it’s not totally unexpected given the setup of the pool house. A dining table for 6 in the house would be helpful (it seats 4). We weren’t able to connect to the wi-fi for the first 2 days since the password had changed and the rental company is only available for emergencies on the weekend. Overall none of these were even close to ruining the trip, just a couple of recommendations. We are planning to come back next year given how much fun we had!

Perfect Birthday Vacation

This is the first VRBO rental we’ve stayed at that not only met but surpassed our expectations! My husband and I love Southport and stayed a few days to celebrate his 40th. Loved the pool!! The smart TV and Keurig really made it feel like home. Beautiful finishes, comfy beds, spacious showers, quiet corner lot with the sweetest neighbors, walking distance to restaurants plus the weather was perfect. We couldn’t get the hot tub to work but the pool was so nice it really didn’t matter. We hope this rental will be available for a long time because we will DEFINITELY be coming back!

special little cottage, inside & out ...

well, this cottage is just plain dreamy ... 2 spacious bedrooms (off a long main hallway), each w/a large en-suite full bathroom, plus a separate powder room in the main house, AND a tiny poolhouse w/its own tiny bath & window unit A/C ... the poolhouse would be perfect for 1 person, but we actually had 2 people sleeping out there using the daybed w/trundle pulled out, & it worked just fine ... fun, artsy decor throughout ... large open-concept kitchen (w/island) & living room, & dining space both indoors & also out on the back porch ... really charming landscaped exterior & a fantastic enclosed backyard w/heated whirlpool & small swimming pool ... heating the whirlpool for any extended period actually heats up the whole pool ... this was awesome for us on a cloudy day w/a high of 71, but it might be something to consider working around when temps soar mid-summer & folks wanna swim in a cool pool ... the ONLY issue we had during our stay pertained to the fridge ... there was a note when we walked in explaining that the ice maker was inoperable ... kinda odd, as ice is so essential @the beach for drinks & beverage coolers, etc., but we just bought bags of ice every time we went out ... the larger problem was that the refrigerator section of the fridge wasn’t cooling ... we loaded up on groceries the night we arrived only to find them at room temp the next morning ... the property manager promptly sent a repairman, who explained that the fridge was frozen up & would have to be unplugged for several hours in order to be fixed ... a stand-in mini fridge was delivered, but it also did not work (lights came on inside, but no cooling whatsoever) ... the 3rd (portable/mini) fridge we received worked but had frozen all the contents solid by the morning we left (when we noticed that the original full-sized fridge seemed to be cooling again!) ... anyhoo, it was busy Memorial Day weekend, & there was a large-scale power outage in Southport 1 morning too ... kinda crazy, BUT appliances do break, & the response by the managing realty company was truly as good as it could possibly have been ... they even agreed to compensate us for the dairy/meat/fruit/veg that we had to toss, so A+ ... we’d stay in this little haven again in a heartbeat ... w/a normal working fridge & an ice maker, it’d be perfection! ...

Family Vacation

Great property and great town. All communication about the property was quick and clear. All questions I had were answered very quickly. The property is on our list to stay at again for sure. I have shared the link with several friends and recommended that they stay there.
