Retreat Cabin in Southern Illinois on Lakefront with an Outdoor Hot Tub

Escape to our beautiful lakefront cabin on Hohman Lake, and experience a truly relaxing vacation. Our unplugged getaway is the perfect destination for families, small groups of friends, or couples looking to disconnect and unwind.

The cozy cabin features 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom, offering 1000 square feet of comfortable living space. Enjoy stunning views of the lake from the screened porch and deck, and relax in the large private spa. Renters are welcome to fish on the lake, swim off the dock, and kayak on the lake. There are two kayaks at the property for guest use. Please reach out to the owners prior to your stay to gain access to the kayaks.

The master bedroom overlooks the screened porch and offers a queen-size bed with a breathtaking view of the lake. The second bedroom also features a queen-size bed, ensuring a comfortable stay for all guests. Additionally, we provide a queen-size inflatable mattress, allowing the cabin to sleep up to 6 guests.

The cabin is equipped with central heat and air, TV with Blu-Ray/DVD player, washer and dryer, dishwasher, microwave, oven, refrigerator, coffee maker, kitchen utensils, cookware, dishes, towels, linens, hairdryer, and iron. We also provide complimentary coffee supplies to get your mornings started off right. Please note that there is no cable or satellite service, internet connection, or landline phone service at the cabin. However, cell phone service for texting is good, and voice service is fair. If you need to stay connected, both Metropolis and Paducah public libraries have computer rooms available for use.

There are plenty of opportunities for hiking, fishing, and wildlife watching in the vicinity. The cabin is located near the Shawnee National Forest and just a 40-minute drive away from the stunning Garden of Gods.

Urgent Care and Emergency Room services are available in both Metropolis and Paducah.

What a relaxing vacation. The place was comfortable and the beds were great. The kitchen was big and nice. The screened-in porch was awesome. Fishing was fun with a great dock. The lighting in the bedroom was very dim, could had appreciated better lighting but not a show stopper. So,a great and very relaxing vacation. Thank you!

Absolutely a 10/10 stay! This lake house was the perfect escape from the city. We loved being immersed in nature and having such a beautiful, peaceful place to unwind. The sunrises over the lake were something you just have to experience. The house was inviting and the incredible lakeside setting made the entire experience feel magical. We loved our time here so much that we already booked our next stay!

This is a lovely property & we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was well stocked with everything we needed & was very clean. The multi-layer deck with eating, lounging, & hot tub areas was awesome, and the dock is perfect - very roomy for both fishing & lounging so that the whole family could be together. We are looking forward to our next visit!

The Retreat Cabin is one of my favorite places, we return year after year for at least a long weekend. We always enjoy floating on the lake, napping on the screened porch, and unwinding in its peace. Sitting on the dock with a fresh cup of coffee watching the dawn is a great way to start a day. The house is well supplied, nicely decorated, and the hosts are top notch. We'll keep booking as long as they'll have us!

We booked the cabin for a short weekend getaway and it was just what we were looking for. The property was clean and as described/pictured. We spent most of our time on the large back deck (our favorite part of the property) just enjoying the view and visiting. Close to Paducah if you want to do some shopping or hit some wineries. Over all perfect and would stay here again.

The cabin is delightful. We loved sitting on the porch watching the many different birds. It is clean and well equipped. There is no WiFi and poor cell service. Which was not problem for us, but be aware.We would stay again

As always had a great stay at the cozy cabin ! Even was better this year because they added WiFi ! So we can check emails and stuff while out in the woods and lake ! We’ve stayed here a few times and it never fails to impress .

At the Retreat Cabin, you can enjoy a truly exceptional getaway experience. The serene lake, stunning scenery, and opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life are just a few of the reasons why we keep returning to this place. One of our favorite things to do is to sit out on the dock and watch the breathtaking sunset (or sunrise if you're an early riser).

What makes this property unique

Our family's main reason for repeatedly returning to the cabin was the absence of cable TV and internet. This allowed us to avoid the distractions of technology and focus on reconnecting with one another. While some may view this as an inconvenience, we saw it as a valuable opportunity that our family truly needed. It's a chance we wanted to extend to others who seek a place to disconnect from technology and instead prioritize reconnecting with loved ones.
