We absolutely loved the views and location of this house. It could use a deeper cleaning but all in all wonderful. The perfect set up for a family with dogs.
We had an absolutely amazing week at Dratherbe House! The house was quirky and comfortable, exactly as described! We lived in a 200 year old cape for many years in Vermont, so this was very familiar. The kitchen and grounds were wonderful places to gather for family dinners and lawn games. Close to the beach and town, but very private with amazing views! The outdoor shower were a big hit with the old and young. Sunrises and sunsets from the upstairs deck were amazing! All in all, this house surpassed our expectations. The property was also well supplied with ALL the necessities and we hope to return again next year! The beginning of a family tradition! Thank you for the opportunity to enjoy Dratherbe! Hoping we can get on the books for the same week in 2025?! Cheers!
Our party of 8 - parents and six adult children stayed at Dratherbe for two weeks. We've rented now ten houses on Block over the years and this was amongst our favorites.
There are 180 degree views from the upper deck and also really nice views from the yard.
There is comfy newish furniture inside to lounge about, including plenty of fans to help cool the house. We liked having a 2nd small kitchens which we used almost exclusively for beverages (coffee, cocktails, beer and soft drinks). The house was professionally cleaned and the bed very comfy. We didn't realize linens and blankets were provided so we brought our own, which I would do again. The kitchen was well stocked (in fact double of just about everything due to the 2nd kitchen). The location is great (just a mile from the Spring House) and walking distance to Mohegan Bluffs - a long walk, but a walk nontheless. The two outdoor showers were a definite highlight. I also appreciated having trash pick up (in the past we've had to coordinate a trip to the dump during our stay). The yard is particularly nice and we spent a lot of time playing in the yard and dining outside.
The house is old and quirky with slanted floors on funny ad-ons ~ it's not fancy, but it's comfortable and clean and we quite enjoyed our stay. It felt like the beach houses I remember renting as a kid with my family. We would happily return.
Wonderful home and on scenic property, perfect for larger family or group.
Comfortable old/antique home on a beautiful and spacious property, loaded with character and quirks and plenty of room for the group to spread out. The upstairs deck with views of the ocean, sunrise and sunset were the perfect spot to start and end the day. Convenient to Mohegan Bluffs and only a moderate bike ride into town. The property is sprawling and quiet, and the house is stocked with everything you need for a comfortable stay. Plenty of room in the main kitchen for a family dinner, while the small kitchen was convenient as an overflow pantry and fridge. The house's antique feel with uneven floors and rustic interior may not be for everyone, but my group found it to be a comfortable home base for exploring, relaxing, and creating great memories. Everything was in working order and the couches and much of the furniture were either updated and/or in good condition.
Joe was very responsive and helpful with providing information before our trip and we had no need for contact during our wonderful stay.

Unpleasant stay
The setting is beautiful but the house was not workable for us. The first floor bedroom smelled musty and mildewed and the air was hard to breath in that room. It was also a room that everyone had to walk through to get upstairs and it had lots of junk piled up in the corners. There were 2 bedrooms that did not have doors and therefore no privacy. The upstairs was dangerous to maneuver. The stairs and floor were very sloped and the ceilings were so low it was hard to move around safely. There were also steps from one room to the next on the first floor which made it hard to move around for older people and young children.
We did not feel comfortable staying in the home. Over all it was an unpleasant stay and we had to leave the home early to find another place to stay.
Fantastic location, beautiful views, plenty of space!
We really enjoyed our stay! The house was perfectly big and yard enormous for the teenagers to play frisbee, hang out. We rented bikes so everyone could get exercise and explore BI. The only disappointment was that the grills really didn’t work but that was not a huge issue, as there were 2 kitchens to use. Would stay again:)

House could use some maintenance but had a great week
We had such a great time staying in the Dratherbe House! It was rustic because it is one of the older houses on the Island but plenty of space and a great kitchen! We want to return next summer!
Dratherbea House was perfect for our stay!
Every year I bring my family to Block and have stayed all over the island, Dratherbea has won our hearts!
We normally rush to the beach every day but the grounds at this house made it so nice and relaxing to chill at the house!
We had a photographer join us for some sunset pics and while Block has many scenic spots we could have gone to- it was perfect to be able to stay right at the house and have a very relaxed and beautiful setting for our photos including Senior portraits for my youngest!
Love this house and made many memories, it was amazing to have my crew under one roof and for friends to be able to come out and enjoy the setting as well!
Thank you!!
