About this space
Enjoy the tranquility of the Bogue Chitto river in the Blue Heron Cabin. This waterfront cabin sits on 2 acres and offers beautiful views of the river and nature. The cabin is bright and cozy and provides many outdoor spaces, including an outdoor shower and three porches. Two kayaks are available for use at no additional charge.

The space
Enjoy the tranquility of the Bogue Chitto river in the Blue Heron Cabin. This waterfront cabin sits on 2 acres and offers beautiful views of the river and nature. The cabin is bright and cozy and provides many outdoor spaces, including an outdoor shower and three porches. Two kayaks are available for use at no additional charge.

The space
Inside the cabin, there is a bathroom with shower, a bedroom with a full bed, and two bunk beds in an alcove. The cabin is outfitted with everything you need to cook or grill, including utensils, pots and pans, a small fridge, two charcoal grills, a gas stove top, and toaster oven. Due to Covid-19, we ask that guests please bring their own edible cooking essentials, like spices.

Our favorite activities at the cabin include:
- Enjoying morning coffee on the porch
- Swinging by the river
- Grilling
- Putting chairs in the river to sit and enjoy the cool, crisp water *the river should be enjoyed with caution
- Picking wildflowers along the road leading to the cabin
- Reading by the fireplace in cool weather
- Drinking libations in the evening under the string lights
- Looking out for the magnificent blue heron that is our cabin's namesake.

Important Notes about the Blue Heron Cabin:
- Water service is provided by well. If you do not enjoy the taste of well water, you may consider bringing bottled water.
- The Blue Heron cabin is a retreat in the woods. As such, you may encounter all kinds of nature, including various animals and critters. Mosquito repellent is available in the cabin.
- As you will see under the amenities section, the cabin does not have wifi or a TV. Its is a perfect place to disconnect and unwind. However, AT&T service is very strong in the area.
- Our golden retriever stays with us in the cabin during our visits. While we do our best to ensure there is no remaining dog hair, we want you to be aware in case you have allergies to dogs.
- We welcome families to the cabin! However, for those with small children, please be aware that there are many steps around the cabin, the cabin is not child-proof, and the cabin is located directly on the river (no fence or barrier). A pack-n-play is available.
- The property features two showers. However, there is no bathtub.

We had an amazing time at this cozy cabin on the river. This cabin is perfect for 2 (and a water-loving dog) and has everything you need. We enjoyed hanging out in the river all day and relaxing on the porch at night listening to nature. We had the best weekend and can’t wait to go back! Thanks for sharing your little slice of heaven!

Great getaway

The Riverfront Cottage was a wonderful place for a quick family getaway. The river was only steps away, and there were several options for outdoor relaxation, including decks, a covered game area, a screened porch with fans, a fire pit, and a comfy shaded hammock. The kitchen was well-supplied and we cooked in or grilled every night. We also enjoyed a good competitive game of Scrabble. We'll definitely return.

Great Get-away

This was just what we needed for a quick get-away with our 7 year old. The property has alot of cool touches, the river was nice and cold, and there were plenty of outside and inside games to play.

Amazing place

Amazing place. Wish this property wasnt getting so popular because we would love to stay here more often. Cell phone service with verizon is really low, yet family got to spend more time with each other and enjoy the water instead of faces buried in their phones. We like this cabin also because its right down the road from the antique village, in which we enjoy going too as well.

Riverfront R&R

Truly enjoyed our stay. We were looking for a place for some R&R before starting my next phase of chemo. This place is perfect. We spent lots of time on the screened porch. Enjoyed the grill and fire pit down closest to the river. We also enjoyed the record player. Love how eclectic this place is. We didn’t want to leave.

Everything about the property is amazing! My wife and I plus 2 of our friends stayed here for the weekend and absolutely loved it! We will definitely be back! Peace and Rest

The property was very clean and well laid out. It was almost as if we were staying at a friend’s house rather than a rental. The owner was great and very friendly. My wife fell in love with this property and was able to get some much needed peace and rest. I was also able to catch a mess of fish in the creek and pan fry them that same day. We will definitely be returning. Thanks Scott you guys have a beautiful place.

Beautifully appointed and lots of amenities. Very comfortable beds Being on the river, the large outdoor areas, the screened in porch, fans, the weber grill, etc. Are definitely worth the additional rate per night. It would be five star, if there were enough towels for the stay for each night, more eating utensils, and kitchen ware, and a microwave oven. I noticed that the refrigerator and oven didn’t work up to par. Understandably, these are propane operated. The ice machine made up for the refrigerator issue. ! Wonderful place and very helpful hosts. Can’t wait to come back!

Great getaway!

I enjoyed this stay so much! I had two teen boys and we enjoyed kayaking, exploring the river, camp fires at night, playing ping pong/darts. We grilled in the evenings. The cabin was clean, provided everything we needed. The beds are extremely comfortable. The best little vacation my son and I had in a while! Quaint and Peaceful

If you are looking for a place to unwind and enjoy nature this quaint cozy cabin is perfect for just that. My husband and I escaped for a parents only weekend but this property also has so many bonus features so we will definitely be returning with our kids to enjoy as a family.

Amazing Owner

This trip went completely different than expected. On the drive to the property, icy road conditions prevented us from actually arriving. The owner was quick to reach out and help in any way he could. He contacted neighbors for updated on the road conditions for the next day, but we were still unable to make the drive. With the unforseen circumstances, the owner was very understanding and there was no issues with communication. I am planning to rebook this property in the near future to be able to have the calm and serene getaway that was originally planned.
