About this property

Firewater Lodge Cabin Experience

Modeled after a historic wilderness log home, our family cabin is a blend of modern and rustic architecture running on geothermal energy. Featuring 25-foot vaulted ceiling, the main family room offers a relaxing lounge perfect for a wine hour. This beautiful log cabin is truly an unforgettable retreat. Nestled in the heart of Umpqua Valley and resting on the banks of a babbling creek, you will be overwhelmed at the stunning sights and sounds this location has to offer. “The Cabin”, as we call it, has been a family treasure for almost 15 years! Perfect for hosting family vacations, group retreats, or a couples getaway.

When you stay at the cabin, you will not just be enjoying the custom-designed, ethically harvested timber home our father dreamed of building, but also the many activities he enjoyed. Hike, taste wine or craft beer, fish, hunt for mushrooms, go panning for gold, and catch crabs on the Oregon Coast. All activities are close enough to the cabin that you won’t be more than 1.5 hours away.

Great Family Location

Our family loved our stay! There was plenty of space for everyone (six of us) and lots to do. We enjoyed picking fruit around the property and walking down to the creek. The house was very clean and well stocked, and the check in process was simple. I would definitely recommend staying here with your family!

Wonderful!

What a beautiful cabin. Spacious, clean, with all the kitchen utensils you could ever want. Had a problem with the dishwasher and the owner came over and fixed it the next day. Beautiful land. Enjoyed the wild turkeys! Would definitely rent again. Bathrooms were clean and well furnished. Lots of little extras.

Well-maintained log home

Beautiful, well-maintained, clean. Log home made of large logs, with a high ceiling, and unique features e.g. a shower reminiscent of a mountain stream due to the use of a variety of stone/rock components.

Relaxing Escape…

We loved everything about our stay here!! Wonderful communication with our host, clean, and quiet were some of our first impressions! Check-in and checkout were simple and everything I could have thought of as a question is answered for me before I think of it. Open and comfortable living area made for a great movie night. We enjoyed playing in the creek and sitting by the fire pit! The kitchen was fully stocked, so appreciated! The beds provided plenty of space for all of us and everyone commented how comfy they all were…they definitely didn’t cut corners on the beds so great sleep was had by all! Really can’t thank them enough for the great stay and going the extra mile in so many ways!

A slice of heaven

Immaculate, well appointed and gorgeous home! The love and attention given to this home was apparent at every turn. After 2 weeks of road warrioring (we road-tripped from the east coast and camped for most of it), this home was such a treat for our family. The beds were comfy, the kitchen and bathrooms were beautiful, and the shared spaces including the backyard were designed for gathering. Our hosts were attentive and accommodating. The other family we traveled with had an RV and they had a separate space for the RV with full hook ups which was awesome and so hard to find in a rental. Do not hesitate to book this home if you are in the Roseburg area. I would give it more stars if I could.

Melrose Vineyard Wedding

My Wife, Daughter, her husband and our 3 Grand kids stayed at the cabin for my Son's Wedding at Melrose Vineyards. It was more than we expected! Great communication with the Host! Cabin was clean as whistle! Kitchen and cabin was well stocked with utensils, spices, towels, coffee, laundry and wish water soap. Everything you would need to make you stay comfortable. Cooking for the family was a breeze! The outside grills were great! The kids loved playing in the creek, seeing the deer in the evening, picking fruit, playing corn hole toss, and just enjoying to Oregon back woods experience. Plenty of games, coloring books, etc to keep them busy as well! We would this a 6+ if we could! Stay and you won't be disappointed! A true Oregon woods experience, that is close to many local treasures the area has to offer!

A Dream

Photos didnt do this place justice! It was amazing. Just gorgeous. Cozy, private, just what we were looking for! Log house was spacious, modern, and comfortable, dare i say luxurious! The price was so reasonable too. Had everything we could possibly dream of needing! Would have been nice to know there was a gas grill there, we didnt bring steak bc we thought there was only a briquette style grill. Was a bit nervous when we saw the neighbors' place- was quite run down. But no one bothered us, and it was far enough away that it didnt detract too much from the appeal of the cabin! We want to return soon with our family! RENT THIS PLACE PEOPLE! you wont be disappointed!

This has been my favorite vacation home rental to date! The cabin was cleaned to a professional level and thoughtfully stocked with everything we would want! The great reviews aren’t overrated! I wish we were able to stay longer! We were in town to visit family and we able to host a few dinners for extended family at the cabin. It was a nice private area, right off a main highway. Theres an awesome porch with a fire pit where we had s’mores. We were free to roam the property. We checked out the brook & picked fruit with the kids. There was a giant lawn with yard games available. Indoors, there were painting supplies and games inside. My son LOVED the drums upstairs. We were content the entire time at the cabin. What an awesome gem!!! We were thankful to have the opportunity to spend a few days at Firewater Cabin.

THIS was what we needed!

This isn’t what we were looking for over the July 4th weekend, but it’s exactly to what we needed, and I’m so glad that it was available. This group of 8 friends has had a very rough couple of years and needed a getaway. We originally started looking for something in January by the ocean where it’s normally cooler this time of year, but July 4th Weekend made pricing astronomical. We expanded our search inland and found this cabin owned by Jon and his family. I’m so glad that we did. The cabin amenities are NOT cabin amenities! The kitchen had all the pots, pans, and dinnerware that we needed to cook well all weekend. The “Man Cave” mastebath shower was Heavenly. Although we were technically in a no solid fuel burning season, we brought our propane fire pit and was able to enjoy the patio late into the evenings. During the days, some of us went hiking, while others went on a wine tour. Others of us did yoga in the field, or slept in the shade by the creek on our yoga mats. I spent several hours just exploring the creek itself. The creek and access to it are not listed in the advert, but it’s definitely icing on the cake. Thank you again!

About the host

Hosted by Jonathan Haeber

Host profile image
We are Erik, Brooke, and Jon – siblings and hosts for your stay at Firewater Lodge. This cabin was the dream home of our father, Mark Haeber, who passed away from cancer in 2020. His dream of finally building a cabin of his own in the Oregon forest was finally realized in 2010 when he built this home with his daughter and son-in-law.

Mark was a skilled machinist for decades and learned fluent Spanish on the job. He was an active outdoorsman and reverently respected nature and its bounty. Fishing, hunting, mushroom foraging, and homebrewing were among his many passions. He shared these passions with his two sons and loved to cook the food he hunted and gathered for family when they visited.

The name, “Firewater Lodge,” comes from our father’s love of a good fire on the porch and his deep interest in fishing and boating on the local lakes and rivers.

When you stay at the cabin, you will not just be enjoying the custom-designed, ethically harvested timber home he dreamed of building, but also the many activities he enjoyed.

Why they chose this property

Modeled after a historic wilderness log home, our family cabin is a blend of modern and rustic architecture running on geothermal energy. Featuring 25-foot vaulted ceiling, the main family room offers a relaxing lounge perfect for a wine hour. This beautiful log cabin is truly an unforgettable retreat. Nestled in the heart of Umpqua Valley and resting on the banks of a babbling creek, you will be overwhelmed at the stunning sights and sounds this location has to offer. “The Cabin”, as we call it, has been a family treasure for almost 15 years!
