About this property
Firewater Lodge Cabin Experience
Modeled after a historic wilderness log home, our family cabin is a blend of modern and rustic architecture running on geothermal energy. Featuring 25-foot vaulted ceiling, the main family room offers a relaxing lounge perfect for a wine hour. This beautiful log cabin is truly an unforgettable retreat. Nestled in the heart of Umpqua Valley and resting on the banks of a babbling creek, you will be overwhelmed at the stunning sights and sounds this location has to offer. “The Cabin”, as we call it, has been a family treasure for almost 15 years! Perfect for hosting family vacations, group retreats, or a couples getaway.
When you stay at the cabin, you will not just be enjoying the custom-designed, ethically harvested timber home our father dreamed of building, but also the many activities he enjoyed. Hike, taste wine or craft beer, fish, hunt for mushrooms, go panning for gold, and catch crabs on the Oregon Coast. All activities are close enough to the cabin that you won’t be more than 1.5 hours away.

About the host
Hosted by Jonathan Haeber

We are Erik, Brooke, and Jon – siblings and hosts for your stay at Firewater Lodge. This cabin was the dream home of our father, Mark Haeber, who passed away from cancer in 2020. His dream of finally building a cabin of his own in the Oregon forest was finally realized in 2010 when he built this home with his daughter and son-in-law.
Mark was a skilled machinist for decades and learned fluent Spanish on the job. He was an active outdoorsman and reverently respected nature and its bounty. Fishing, hunting, mushroom foraging, and homebrewing were among his many passions. He shared these passions with his two sons and loved to cook the food he hunted and gathered for family when they visited.
The name, “Firewater Lodge,” comes from our father’s love of a good fire on the porch and his deep interest in fishing and boating on the local lakes and rivers.
