Full luxury in breathtaking natural beauty. Remote and private. So quiet you can hear your heart beat. At night, no city lights disturb your view of the star-studded sky.

From this 1,475 square foot Casita, you'll enjoy panoramic 360-degree views: Abiquiu Lake, miles of mesas, rolling hills, and the magnificent red cliffs surrounding the famous Ghost Ranch. To the south you'll see the 10,000-foot mountain known as El Pedernal, which Georgia O'Keefe made famous in her paintings, along with much of the near landscape.

Our Casita was built in 2008, and designed by a local architect in a southwestern yet modern style. It's fully furnished for comfort. The kitchen has stainless steel appliances, including a Bosch gas stove with heavy gauge grills for those who really love to cook.

Check out the Master bathroom: you can choose between a slate shower or a deep soaking tub to soothe your body after an invigorating hike in the nearby Jemez Mountains. Besides the 2 bedrooms, each with Queen beds, there is a Full Size Air Mattress RAISED Inflatable Bed with Built-in High Capacity Airbed Pump and Fitted Sheets with Bed Skirt for use in the Great Room overlooking the lake.

Gorgeous get-away

We had a wonderful stay at this beautiful home. The views are amazing! We had a great get away from the rest of the world. The lake is just down the hill and views are beautiful! There are many great places to visit within 60-90 minutes from the home. We really treasured our time here together! The hosts were great about communicating with us and the house was very clean and absolutely beautiful! You are remote which we knew after reading about the property which was amazing! The home is well stocked and had all that we needed. We look forward to coming back someday!

Perfect relaxation

We enjoyed this home, gorgeous views of the lake and surrounding cliffs, comfy beds, well appointed kitchen, we walked down to the lake for a swim too! Great to relax and get away in nature with all the comforts of home!

Beautiful beautiful spot

A wonderful spot, quiet , dark and so peaceful. Everyone loved waking up to the sunrise over the mountains and the sun hitting the red rock of Ghost Ranch. We took some wonderful walks and loved the cows and the coyotes.

We loved the house and the amazing views from it. The kitchen was well set up for cooking, which we did a lot, given the distance to a restaurant. We would not hesitate to return.

This place was better than advertised. The views were spectacular and so much better than the pictures provided by VRBO. Communication with owner was great. Could not have pick a better place to spend a weeks vacation to get away. Would definitely stay here again.

Breathtaking

We could not have been more impressed with the view and the house was beautiful . We enjoyed sitting outside in the evenings taking in the view and looking at the night sky. It is well worth the trip.

Amazing Place!

Truly beautiful house with spectacular views, that make you feel you have New Mexico all to yourself. Host is very communicative and helpful. Road to top of the mesa is bumpy and you must go slow, but is totally worth it once you arrive at the top. We feel very fortunate to have been able to celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary here. I think my favorite part was drinking coffee by the fire pit during sun rise.

This property is better than advertised if that's possible. Beautiful home. Expertly decorated. Super clean. Well provisioned. Attentive and helpful owner. Breathtaking views. If you want to get away to the most beautiful and peaceful location, this is it.

Grandchildren odyssey

This is at least the fourth time I have stayed at Larry and Laurie's beautiful home and it never disappoints. If you're a photo buff this is the place to be. The light, the vistas......they're extraordinary. I can't recommend it enough.

Incredible Views!

The views from all windows of Vista de Lago were unbelievable! We totally enjoyed the comfortable couches and beds. We also took advantage of spending time sitting out on the portico and feeling the evening breezes while sipping our glass of wine. This was truly relaxing. Just be prepared that the final leg of the dirt road is somewhat hilly and challenging for 'City Slickers' but well worth the adventure. An SUV is recommended.

Family Fun!

I was hesitant to book such an “out of the blue” property, but I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out. Larry was so helpful and made sure we felt comfortable traveling to his property. Once we got there, it was stunning. The views, as mentioned in previous reviews, was just breathtaking. Then you add in all the comforts of home in the casita, and it’s truly a perfect experience. We brought four kids ages 7 and under, and they all loved it. They spent hours searching for rocks and splashing in the lake. Having a private entrance to the lake was so, so nice, as we could avoid crowds and have the lake to ourselves. We saw maybe 5 other people the whole time?! And though I *thought* I packed everything we would need, I did forget a few things, but having Bodes and a Family Dollar within a 30 minute drive was helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the kids already want to go back!

Amazing vistas

WOW!! What a special place Vista de Lago is! We have visited the Abiquiu area several times over the past 10 years, but had always stayed in Santa Fe. We decided this trip needed to be different...a bit more remote, somewhere we could reconnect with the beauty of northern New Mexico. We hit the jackpot! Although the road in was a bit bumpy, the journey was worth it. We actually had trouble unpacking the car because we kept getting distracted by one view after another. The house was the cleanest we have ever rented, and well-stocked and well-appointed. We had a laundry list of places we wanted to visit and things to do, but after the first 48 hours found it difficult to leave the mesa. Larry and Laurie gave great restaurant recommendations-we loved El Bruno's and El Paragua. If you are looking for a place to leave the world as you know it behind, bask in the beauty of those gorgeous mountains and reconnect with each other, this is the place for you. But you better hurry up before we beat you to it!

Breathtaking Views

Greatly appreciated the assistance and communication with booking. Location and views breathtaking! The abode was overly filthy! We arrived in the evening as my husband off loaded our vehicle. I was in the kitchen preparing dinner. The pots and pans had chunks of dried food that I spent time soaking and washing. Grabbed the dinner plates, drinking glasses and silverware and the cleaning continued. I loaded the dishwasher with coffee cups and bowls we would be using for breakfast the next morning and it became apparent that I needed to hand wash items we would use during our stay for the residue on these items were quite stuck. As we relaxed in the living room the odor of dogs was strong from the couches and overstuffed chair. When we retired to our prospective rooms the bedding fitted, flat sheets and comforters were stained and loaded with dog hair and I’m talking Loaded!!! Needless to say we slept on top of the bedding. The mattress in the master makes you roll to the center of the bed. We were booked for three nights. Due to the conditions we checked out after the second night. Notification to owner was put in place with supporting photos. We were reimbursed our hundred dollar cleaning fee. This was not the getaway we were expecting!
