We had an outstanding stay in this lovely, comfortable lakefront home. The home was very clean, the kitchen was fully equipped and with beautiful appliances! Bathrooms were clean and updated. Beds were very comfortable. The lakefront setting was awesome. It’s a truly magical feeling sitting next to a bonfire on the shores of Lake Superior. We highly recommend this property!M. Manzi

Absolutely perfect.

We have been going up to Ontonagon for the last 10 years. This wonderful home is the best we have stayed in. Very warm and inviting and had everything we needed. The weather was not the best so we never got to use the kayaks but we had an amazing time. Thank you

Gorgeous location with view of the lake through the trees. Very clean, comfortable, well-equipped, and spacious house. We were 5 people, age range from 18 to 70. Great home base for some beautiful hikes.

Beautiful

The seclusion and peace were wonderful. The property and woods were so quiet, like there was only us on the planet. The house is just lovely and the owners thought of everything, right down to a cart to help transport our necessities to the lake. The master bed is amazing! Will definately stay longer here next time.

Happy Place is named appropriately!

We had a fantastic time at this rental for a long 4-day weekend. Six of us enjoyed everything about the property, but the lighted path to the sitting area by the Big Lake was gorgeous! We can't be happier with the entire place, as well as the owners and their communication prior/during/after. Everything is as stated, or better ... we've booked again already!

Beautiful gem on Lake Superior

Great central location for day trips between Porcupine mountains and Copper Harbor. The home is recently updated and exceeded expectations with how clean and cozy it is. There are several fireplaces, and a lighted path to the shoreline which has a firepit and chairs for relaxing. The home owner was very accommodating and attentive. We plan to be back again, 5 stars all around! Bring your camera so much to see!

A place to Perfect Relaxation

This is a beautiful home in a beautiful setting. The home welcomed us in the minute we opened the door, and every single thing we needed was right there for us. The peace and quiet of the woods and Lake Superior down the path make this the most relaxing place we have ever found. It's minutes away from exploring the beauty of the porcupine mountains, and there are so many hiking trails to enjoy. You can tell this is a well loved home prepared by Cristel for her guests, and she loves sharing it.

Beautiful property

Has a wonderful time. The property is just beautiful. The trail down to superior was glorious, the setting down by the water was everything we could have asked for in soaking in the beauty of Lake Superior! The house layout was perfect, the beds were very comfortable. We loved the opened of the kitchen, dining, and living room. The sliding glass doors leading into the deck give a beautiful view of the property down to the water. We couldn't have been happier with our choice! Super easy and nice communication with the owner. Our happy place, too!

We stayed four nights at the Manson’s UP Happy Place. It was everything we hoped for and more. It was super clean, which is the most important condition for me. The decor was warm and inviting, very up to date. It is much more spacious than it looks from the outside and the views are lovely, like you’re staying in the northwoods, which you are! The walk to the lake is well lit and easy to navigate, no stumps or roots to trip you up. We saw several deer over the few days we stayed and lots of birds. We didn’t see any black bear although we had been warned there had been sightings near the lake recently so we were on the lookout! The master bed we slept in was comfortable, and we enjoyed the living room fireplace in the mornings when it was chilly. The kitchen is well stocked with every pan or utensil we could possibly need. Although there are other homes along the drive and it is just off the main highway, we heard nothing but sounds of nature; no voices or vehicles could be heard! It was the perfect home with all the privacy you could ask for. The only thing I might pass along is that there are no window coverings in master bedroom so if you need more darkness to sleep, you might want a sleep mask during summer months when it’s light earlier and later but it didn’t affect us. Just a thought… We got groceries at Pat’s IGA in Ontonagon before arriving at the house. We also visited Bond Falls on our way home. It’s worth the drive as a day trip if you have time. Really beautiful! All in all, I’d call this a 5 star plus rental. I couldn’t have asked for a lovelier stay, just what we were looking for. We enjoyed our stay very much. The pictures show the property pretty well. The lighted path to the water is cool and the beach set up is very relaxing and nice. We stayed in late October at the tail end of the color season but I imagine this property is great to stay at during all seasons.

We are often referred to as the Manson 3, or the three best friends. Chad and Christel have been married for almost 20 years, and have an amazing son, Connor, who will be a high schooler this year. We have two amazing Schnauzer puppies, and love all the things about the UP.

Why they chose this property

We have been coming to this area for 10 years, and had been looking for the exact right spot for a year or so. When Christel walked into the home she knew this was her happy place. Everything about it screamed us, and we couldn't be happier about the decision!

What makes this property unique

This home is remote, yet right off a main road. It has a beautiful beach on Superior. It provides solitude and many activities. It really is a piece of heaven.
