If you plan to hike the Porkies this home is in a great location nearby! House was as described, nice and private and Deb was easy to communicate with and very responsive.

Great stay!

Perfect location between Ontonagan and the porcupine mtns. It was the perfect place to relax after hiking all day or visiting town. We also had a great time looking for yooperlites, unfortunatley we didnt find any but there is always next time!

Very Nice!

This is a very nice place in a beautiful setting. The house was super clean and had everything we needed. The location is excellent. We really enjoyed our stay but would have preferred to have blinds or curtains on the living room & kitchen windows as it didn't feel very private at night. Still, I would recommend.

Was a great property with WiFi. Only thing I’d add or being. Ext time is a space heater for the bedroom by the kitchen as it seemed the heat doesn’t get to that part as much as the rest of the home.

Convenient location/great stay

Porcupine Place was great for our annual Mother/daughter trip! It was conveniently located to Porcupine Mountains/Lake of the Clouds and many area waterfalls. Also, only 1/2 mile drive down the road to Green Park for some Yooperlite rock hunting (we found several small ones!) Porcupine Place was spotless! The kitchen was well stocked and the owners even provided a water cooler for those of us not used to drinking well water! When I inquired about a few specific kitchen items (cast iron frying pan, slow cooker, casserole dish) they had them on the counter ready and waiting for me! Beds were comfortable & towels & linens were clean (as in no stains!) Floors are vinyl, so no nasty dirt harboring carpet to walk on. A huge plus in our opinion! We felt very comfortable during our stay. A little heavy on the perfume (but that’s a personal thing due to allergies) and was easily remedied by unplugging the wall units. Our only real issue, as another reviewer recently wrote, was the smell of cigarette smoke. It appears to be a new problem and after contacting the owners and providing details, they assured me that they will be taking steps to remedy the situation. They were very concerned about this issue. I feel confident that future guests will not have this problem. I would like to see blinds or drapes on more of the windows, but again, personal preference. Overall a great place to stay and we would stay again! Thanks Bill & Deb for sharing your home!

Used Porcupine Place as our base for hiking the Porcupine Mtn SP and exploring the area. Property was clean, well eqipped, and gave us a good location for the Porkies, Ontanogan, and other sites. We enjoyed our stay.

This property was perfectly located for what we needed. On a 2 week upper Michigan circle tour. Came in on the Ss Badger and camped a few nights in Wisconsin than wanted a good camp location to hike Porcupine mtn and than Kewanee. Than on our way toward Marquette to Sault St Marie finishing Drummond island over the Mackinaw bridge through the sunrise side of the lower.My only critic on the property was I specifically inquired if they had a bathtub, which they do but assumed the drain plug worked so I could soak in a tub at the end of the day. It did not work. Everything else was perfect!

The location was perfect a trip back “home”, I spent a lot of time just down the road at my grandparents house in the summer on the Cranberry river. We spent the day in the Porcupine mountains, and an evening on the beach for sunset and into the night. The house was perfect for us to make some memories of our own while sharing things I remembered growing up.

This property was in perfect order and had the best stocked kitchen! We brought food to cook during our stay and this kitchen had everything we needed. Incredibly clean.

Great home base

Enjoyed exploring the porcupine mountains and downtown Ontonagon. The inside of the house was perfect for our family of 5, and was spotless and had everything we needed. Sadly there were so many flies outside, so we didn’t really get to take advantage of the yard games. It’s on a busy-ish road, so not as peaceful as I was hoping for. But it was a good home base for our day trips. Loved the smart TV- it was nice to watch shows on Netflix together after a long day of hiking and exploring.

Perfect home for a family vacation

This was a perfect place for me, my son, his wife and their two children, ages 7 and 10, to get away together for a few days after Christmas. Despite having to change our outdoor plans somewhat due to rather lousy rainy weather, there were games to play and puzzles to put together and a well stocked kitchen where we made our meals together. And we still worked in several nearby, beautiful outdoor hikes, even if it was slushy. We enjoyed every minute.

Porcupine Place is the place to stay

In Ontonagon, there won't be a better place for the price than Porcupine Place. The home is cozy with it's remodeled updated look, the property and location is great! Our host gave clear and simple instructions for check in. Oh, and it's so close to the State Park. Great experience!
