Great location on Great Pond, very relaxing, lots to do, hiking, fishing and kayaking a lot more. Owner was fantastic to work/communicate with and very prompt. I highly recommend, would definitely stay again.
The property was perfect for my family! We were able to enjoy a week on great pond. The house had basically everything we needed. Host was very responsive!

A pleasure hosting you and your family. You’re welcome back anytime!!
Our family's week at Loon Struck was fantastic! In addition to a beautiful setting on a quiet cove, the cabin was extremely well-equipped with a lot of thoughtful touches. The owner was kind and quick to respond to any questions. We swam, kayaked, sat long hours talking on the dock, and enjoyed watching a thunderstorm from the screen porch. The cabin cooled off beautifully overnight, and the sound of loons calling drifted in through the windows. Quintessential Maine summer experience!
We had a great time at Loon Struck. The house was spacious enough for our group of 6 adults and 3 babies. We enjoyed fires at night and did lots of swimming. The yard is great for games and hanging out. We would definitely come again!

Thanks for visiting Brenna. Let us know if you are back in the area again. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your visit.
We had a wonderful week at Loon Struck. This is very well stocked, and the hosts were communicative, helpful, and responsive. We loved that you could see the lake from so many different parts of the house, and the layout of the house offers so many different locations for socializing/gathering.

Thank you Susan. I'm glad you and your family had a great visit.
We enjoyed the cottage and its location in a quiet cove where the kids (nine and six) could get into the shallow water. The house was comfortable and well-equipped. Local communities are quite small, but the coast is close enough for day trips. We had a great day at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens and sea fishing out of Freeport.

Sorry you had things come up & had to leave a day early. Hopefully next time you can stay longer Sarah. And thank you for leaving the house in great shape. You’re welcome back anytime.
Tod's place "Loonstruck" is a genuinely great place to spend some time, a classic Maine lakehouse. Just as it's pictured and described in the listing, it's properly equipped and really comfortable. Everything works and works well, and Tod was incredibly responsive and great to deal with. The lake is beautiful...clear and clean, the adirondack chairs out on the dock are great, and there's actually a pair of loons right there, much of the time. Great place, great experience altogether.

Thank you Brian. And thanks for taking great care of our home. You and your family are welcome back anytime.
Lovely cabin in an ideal location- it exceeded our every expectation! Loved the loons. We saw many pairs with young ones- so good to see. And we were serenaded thru the night. We relaxed on the comfortable furniture, even had a little piano recital! Gathered around the fire pit to laugh and strengthen family bonds. Fishing challenged us but we never gave up! Just being out on the beautiful lake was enough! We highly recommend this home to anyone wanting to explore and experience the unique beauty of Maine.

Thank you so much for being a great guest Julie. Glad you enjoyed your time at LoonStruck. You are welcome back anytime.
Beautifully set up for vacation. Lots of outdoor seating to enjoy the lake. The screened-in porch was the perfect place for nap and reading time! We love loons and saw parent and baby on our arrival. We consider a loon call the official sign we are on vacation. 😊 We also rented a boat from Great Pond Marina. So much fun to take the boat “to town”. Bob was terrific at the Marina. We got to see more of the lake that way. Several of the Maine lakes we have stayed on have lots of Milfoil. (A weed). None of that by the house and we felt it was the cleanest lake we had been to. A wonderful family vacation thanks to Tod and Cathy.

Thanks so much for the nice comments Joyce. We are happy you enjoyed your vacation and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. The baby loon has been a big hit with our visitors this summer with it spending most of its time in our cove.
My husband & I stayed for two weeks with our adult children visiting for a few nights. We were lucky to get two weeks in the rental as everything was booked! Lucky for us this was a gem. We're Mainers and knew the weather in June would be unpredictable so the cloudy days and rain didn't surprise us.
We read by the cozy fireplace and enjoyed the view on the screened in porch. We had some nice sunny days and enjoyed kayaking, boating and watching the wildlife. There were duck and geese families but the loon family with their little one riding on their back was a sight. Their calls to each other were enchanting. The place was incredibly clean, very well organized and the decorating was charming. We enjoyed the view from the kitchen and ate at the lake almost every meal. We would definitely recommend Loon Struck for anyone wanting a peaceful and quiet place with many amenities.

Thank you Beth. By the sounds of things it lived up to its nickname “Loon Struck”. We are glad you enjoyed your time with your family and look forward to hosting you again in the future. Thank you for leaving the place in great shape when you left.
The owners thought of every detail and we were very fortunate with great weather. The location was perfect as the area across the lake was undeveloped and scenic. The lake was clear and clean. The sandy bottom was easily visible in 8 plus feet of water although the water near the dock was about 3-4 feet. There was an interesting creek nearby and we floated the creek. The lake is beautiful and easily navigable with some attention to charts.
The home was well situated on the lot and the walk to the water was short and easy. The home was built in 1920 and in good condition. I have mobility issues and having everything on the first level was fantastic, although my wife did say the loft was well appointed for additional guests. I was working during our 3-week visit and the Internet was fast and reliable for both work and streaming in the evening. The beds were firm and it took us a few nights to get used to them but we slept very well for the majority of our visit.
The neighborhood was very quiet and the neighbors were helpful. We did not go out to dinner and enjoyed the well-appointed grill and the great fish and shellfish choices from Tri-Pond variety. On the very few rainy days we had, we enjoyed a movie and/or Marden's in Waterville. Otherwise, grocery shopping was about 25 minutes away and there were a few farmer's markets and farm stands nearby.
We had a great time and recommend the camp to any and all.

We celebrated our daughter's graduation from UMF there, with sisters, aunts, her boyfriend, and friends. With such a beckoning setting, the meals naturally spilled outside. The only thing we did not use was the firepit, but given 1 more day we would have! The kitchen is highly functional, and the house is truly well set up for enjoyment.
Loon Struck is a true gem. Cozy, quiet and well-equipped, it was a great base for our Central Maine activities. We felt right at home, and enjoyed the lake and dock right out the back door. Would happily stay here again! Tod and Cathy are wonderful hosts.

Despite challenging weather, my family had a lovely time at this beautiful cottage located on a small inlet to Great Pond. The dock is perfect for chats and enjoying the lake. The cottage was comfortable and offered lots of space for my small family of 4. Many thanks to the owners!

About the host
Hosted by Tod & Cathy
We are both in the service industry - Tod runs fishing, boating & outdoor sport trade shows around the country & is a licensed NH fishing guide; Cathy is an owner/operator of a salon and spa. We have 3 grown kids out on their own and a teenaged son still living at home. We love the outdoors & look forward to sharing our lakefront home with considerate, respectful renters who want to make great memories with their families and/or friends. Our family has rented vacation properties for years using services like VRBO and this home offers everything we wanted when we rented.
Why they chose this property
We love that it's in a quiet protected cove but also opens quickly up to the large open lake (biggest lake in the Belgrade chain) for boating, fishing and exploring. It is a clean clear lake that isn't too busy, especially on our part of the lake, and has a nice sandy entry area for our friends and family of all ages to enjoy. We love the location!! It feels so remote & private but is close to anything & everything we could want - shopping, quaint village shops, great dining (including a very good sushi joint), hiking trails and the seacoast an hour away for day trips. We also love it's rustic charm while having most of the comforts of home.
