About this property
Lakefront With Beautiful Views
Drive the mile down this picturesque road to the gracious home at its end, and you may never want to leave. Surrounded by water on three sides, this meticulously maintained home offers unsurpassed views of long lake and the high peaks region of the adirondack mountains. Gaze out one of the many large, plate glass windows, and see the vistas of the lake and snow-capped mountains change by the hour, day, and season. Revel in the sight of the bald eagles and osprey which soar around the bay in front of the house, landing in one of the many tall trees on the property's shore. This homes location is at the end of a secluded cul-de-sac, which provides privacy.
The home boasts three covered porches offering over 350 square feet of additional outdoor living space. One is an enclosed screened porch where you can enjoy the beautiful sunsets looking westward toward owls head mountain, or watch the bridge lights slowly coming to life four miles down the lake at dusk. The second porch is open directly off the family room, where you are treated to unobstructed views of long lake and the magnificent high peaks. The third porch, constructed with massive beams obtained from a local sawmill, warmly welcomes you as you drive up to the house and provides shelter loading and unloading your vehicle.
Entering the large center hall of the home, you will see two spacious closets for storage, and a laundry area. There is a full bath off the hallway, whose vanity was entirely constructed by hand. The careful handiwork is typical of many areas of the home; all the doors in the home were handmade, crafted from cedar planks and wrought-iron latches.
The interior living space, offering 2,300 square feet, consists of a large downstairs with a living room and a family room to accommodate easy living and entertaining of both children and adults. The living room soars upward with an 18 foot ceiling featuring a large antler chandelier and overlooking balcony. Two stacked plate glass marvin windows allow views straight north to the high peaks. Even on cloudy or rainy days, the house is bright and cheerful. The expansive glass windows and doors always let the outside in.
The ceiling and walls of the family room are of knotty pine complemented by yellow pine flooring. A native cobble stone and slate hearth provides a resting place for one of the two jotul woodstoves that are more than adequate to warm the entire home. Entrance to the family room is through an arched doorway from the living room, with massive doors, that frames the beauty of the hearth and its impressive mantle, made also from local material. Although ample in size, this room provides a cozy nest for gathering around the stove, listening to music, or simply contemplating the beauty of the surroundings through the large, three-paned sliding doors.
The kitchen was constructed entirely by hand and has beautiful cedar cupboards and a knotty pine covered ceiling. Beautiful granite countertops were added to the kitchen, two full baths and sink in the guest room. A large, rustic-looking table immediately outside the kitchen is where a small family or large gathering can comfortably take their meals.
The upstairs hallway, with its overlooking balcony, provides access to four bedrooms and a full bath. The large master bedroom offers a 5 x 6 plate glass window looking across to owls head mountain, and double-hung windows enable breathtaking views north. Another large bedroom will pamper your guests with its lovely vaulted ceiling, own vanity and wash area, large closet and yellow pine flooring. The third roomy bedroom is also vaulted and can easily sleep three children in two twin beds and a futon. The fourth bedroom is smaller but very cozy and quiet.
Step outside and enjoy yourself in any season. In the warmer weather, walk down to the shore and your dock, climb into a canoe and paddle up owls head or south pond outlet. Owls head outlet streams into long lake from the west and south pond outlet from the east right off the point of the property. Additionally, the property is located one mile from buttermilk falls which not only offers year-round beauty but the sound of falls from this home on most evenings. In addition, during the summer months, kids and adults can put their tubes in below the falls and enjoy tubing down the raquette river one mile or so to long lake. When the lake is frozen, the access road to the property allows you to jump on a snowmobile for an adventure on hundreds of miles of well-maintained trails and lakes.
This property is for someone who appreciates the magnificent beauty of the adirondack mts. And is looking for a vacation home where both individuals and families can relax or enjoy all the activities that lakes, streams and mountains have to offer. In addition to all the amenities described, the property is 45 to the skiing area at north creek (gore mt.).
