Needs some upkeep

I am a retired contractor so maybe I am more aware of things being out of order. The kitchen sink faucet was very loose, ready to fall off. The rocker recliner was worn out and seem to be broken. None of the back deck lighting worked. There were a few other odds and ends. With a little attention this could have been a 5 star stay. Katharine is very responsive, that was really nice.

Double check the arrival information!

The house was great, but the check in process was very poor. The only instructions I received were incorrect; the key was not where it was supposed to be; further, I also never received the arrival information e-mail which included a lockbox code and contact information. After an hour on the phone with VRBO we were able to get the owner’s phone number. After 30 minutes the owners finally called us back and we got in the house. This process needs to be vastly improved.I recommend the house, but make sure you double/ triple check the arrival information so that you can get in the house.

Loud

Train is very active and loud as well as dogs on both sides of property. Pictures of back screened in porch were much nicer/different than actual. Nice big kitchen and dinning area for meals and games with family. Walking distance from park circle.

Pleasant Place to Stay

Pros: 1. House was cool on arrival 2. House was mostly clean on arrival and felt homey - There were a few things found during our arrival that we shared with Katherine and she offered to have someone come in to fix them when we were out of the house, but decided it was not so serious it needed immediate attention. 3. House had ceiling fans in each bedroom and also within the living area, which made the house very comfortable where we did not need to lower the central air below 75 degrees even on the hottest 100 degree days. 4. The location of the property was in a quiet neighborhood. 5. Around the corner from major freeway 526 highway 6. Nice little town area on Village Alley that had a lot of eateries, some shops, coffee and bakery, ice cream shop. The place was always hopping. Eateries included Cajun, Italian, Fish, several outdoor pubs/bars. 7. Close drive to the convention center in Charleston SC. Cons: 1. Railroad in backyard. It did come through during the day and night, at least 2 times a day. Usually we heard it at @ 9 pm and 12 AM. We were gone during the day most days. 2. The place had a bit of a smell which I noticed a couple days. I believe it was coming from a refinery or plant that is across the other side of 526 freeway. 3. Several things found during arrival that the cleaning staff missed. As mentioned Katherine mentioned they could fix but I mentioned it was not things I thought was serious enough that required immediate attention. Suggestions: 1. Add shower matt to the shows to prevent slipping or remove the hooks that are on the shower wall. I slipped in the bigger bathroom and cut my finger on the hook (the hook popped off) while catching myself. 2. Have cleaning staff check all areas of the house to remove trash because I found food/liquid trash in the cabinets in the bathroom in the upper shelves. I also found some under the trashcans in the kitchen. 3. Maintenance the appliances regularly. The ice/water dispenser was frosted over. We use the microwave without issue. We did not use the oven or dishwasher. We washed and dried the dishes by hand. 4. Should clean the furniture on the screen patio because they were very dirty. 5. The crawlspace screens appeared to be torn open from what I could see outside. I believe it could be easy access to the house for palmetto bugs and other bugs. We found one palmetto bug in the house on our last day in the smaller bathroom.

Nice stay

LIKES: Property was recently renovated. The front recently re-bricked in. The interior was redone nicely, floors mostly just one surface (laminate) and the bathrooms had tile floors. The kitchen area large with newer appliances. Yard well kept. Beds in good shape, with newer mattresses, clean fresh linens, and decent pillows. All main rooms had ceiling fans. The host was responsive to queries. Screened in back porch. High Speed Internet available, teenager didn’t scream about lagging so must be working pretty well. Computer desk available, we didn’t’ use it. Neighborhood was quiet. Train Tracks were no issue, the trains are low speed, and even provided entertainment for the baby. Close proximity to I-526. NOT LIKED: Front door latch was broken, could only secure the door closed with the dead bolt, which made it inconvenient when going in and out multiple times, or if we just wanted to sit out front and enjoy the great weather, as there is no screen door to keep out insects and other critters. Only one key provided to use, which meant that with two or more groups, now a key has to be hidden on the property, which isn’t very secure. Refrigerator has an icemaker and water dispenser, but wasn’t working and the ice dispenser opening was clogged. No rails around the front porch. Back porch furniture was either very dirty or very stained, as was the outdoor rug. Computer Desk Chair torn and wasn’t very comfortable if you need to sit up and do work. Driveway only large enough for two normal vehicles. As we had two large vehicles, we had to utilize a grassy area along the driveway to ensure we weren’t into the street. COULD DO BETTER: Several burned out lights throughout the house. Vent fans for bathrooms barely moved any air (we used our own fans to add air movement and dry out the bathrooms faster). House has a Smart TV, and someone’s accounts logged in on a couple services. Xfinity is available, but 99% of the channels say “Not Subscribed To,” Found one local channel and home shopping channels. Guests could do better bringing their own Roku/Firestick/AppleTV unit to use. No instructions were provided for the available streaming services and how to use them or remotes. Provided utensils could add a couple sets of tongs. Also recommend a couple sets of hot pads, only had two mismatched gloves to use. As the counters are Corian, need hot pads to set hot stuff on to protect them. All in all, house worked great for our family to get away together.

Awesome

This place was perfect to meet friends. We had our dogs and a 3 year old. We walked the dogs to the common house brewery which was amazing! We enjoyed a few of the parks and walking safely through the quiet neighborhood. The train tracks are very close but a 3 year old boy thought that was the best thing ever. The trains run through rarely and slowly and are surprisingly quiet. A drive to downtown Charleston was quick and painless. We definitely plan another visit next year. Thank you to the property management with all questions quickly answered.

Would gladly stay there again!

I wasn't sure what to expect with this house but the fenced in backyard for my dogs was the ultimate selling point. I was pleasantly surprised. The house is clean, basic needs are provided for, and the active railroad track right outside of the fence of the backyard was actually a big hit for us! We don't get to see trains like that very often. The furniture in the house has been well loved and shows some wear but with a few throws and blankets, everything cozied right up. It ended up being a memorable visit with family and I would definitely stay again!

Park Circle VRBO

Great location (only about 20-25 minutes from MUSC) in a quiet neighborhood. Everything was well stocked. The only items I'd recommend for the kitchen would be a toaster, grill spatula and tongs. Thank you very much for our quiet stay!

Great Location

This house is perfect for families visiting North Charleston. It's located just minutes from both the Navy and Airforce bases with plenty of restaurants and shopping nearby. The bedrooms had plenty of storage with soft comfy beds. The bathrooms did the trick and the showers have endless hot water. The kitchen has plenty of space with a new microwave and stove ready to warm up your meals. The tv has plenty of options with Netflix, Samsung TV, Amazon, etc... The wifi was powerful enough to allow me to hold zoom calls for work while my son attending school online. Dog owners will LOVE the back porch. It's huge, screened-in, and strong enough to keep your dogs inside. We sat on the porch every morning and watched trains go by. The windows in this house are so good that you have to try to hear the trains. Will stay again.
