Linda Vista is located at the Wilson Ranch, home of the Freestone Inn and many beautiful private cabins. Guests have access to the hot tub and the swimming pool at the Freestone Inn and can swim, kayak, and paddleboard at nearby Freestone Lake. Bring your own kayak and/or paddleboard.
In the summer it’s a 17-minute drive to the Cutthroat Lake trailhead, 19 minutes to Washington Pass and 25 minutes to Maple Pass trailhead (*drive times according to google maps), making this one of the closest rental cabins to the North Cascades National Park and the Pasayten Wilderness and their many world-class hiking trails. Linda Vista is ideally located for beating the crowds and snagging a trailhead parking spot at peak seasons.
Linda Vista also offers easy access to North Cascade Heli, which is located ½ mile away on the Wilson Ranch. North Cascade Heli offers quick access to over 300,000 acres of premium skiing and snowboarding in the wild heart of the North Cascades.
If you prefer, slower, quieter forms of winter recreation, there is an extensive system of snowshoe trails just outside your door at Linda Vista.
If you prefer traditional alpine skiing, the Loup Loup ski area is 37 miles away and offers 1240 vertical feet and 10 cut runs. You can Nordic ski here too. Kids 12 and under can alpine or Nordic ski for free.
The Mazama Store, with its great bakery and ‘a little bit of everything good’ is just a 5-minute drive or 10-minute bike ride from the cabin; or around 20 minutes by skis (depending on how fast you slide and glide). Mountain bike and ski rentals are also available in Mazama.
The old west town of Winthrop is 15 miles and under 20 minute’s drive down valley, with its great shopping, bakery and dining establishments. The Shafer Museum is also worth a visit to learn about the local history. Winthrop has a fun ice-skating rink and is the jumping off point for Methow Rafting’s raft and float tubing on the Methow River. Winthrop’s annual calendar of events includes the Rhythm and Blues Festival, Vintage Car Rally, Memorial Day Rodeo, and Christmas at the End of the Road (check the town’s website for details).

Well designed house with comfortable uncluttered interior; Nice wraparound porch with beautiful mountain views; in a small development but plenty of space between properties providing privacy; 5 minute drive to Mazama including the incredible Mazama General Store for high quality groceries, baked goods and preprepared food; good driving access to some of the best hiking trails in the area; if ever back in the area, I would not hesitate to rent this house again.
Cabin was nice with excellent views. We had a mouse in the house and found evidence of rodents in the laundry room where the owners stored some of their own food. The generator came on automatically during a 12 hour power outage (due to a wildfire near Winthrop) and after the power was restored and after the landscaping sprinklers ran for a couple of hours the water taps in the house ran dry. We weren't sure what was going on but we were leaving that morning so we survived. Internet access was good and stayed on with generator power. Make sure you print out check-in information before arriving because there is no cell coverage (at least for T-Mobile) at the cabin or in Mazama. We had to drive almost to Winthrop to get a strong enough cell signal to allow us to retrieve the email with the access code for the property.
This house is beautiful, has all the amenities, and a gorgeous location. We were in the area for a wedding at an inn nearby and it was the perfect spot for a group of friends to reunite. Would love to come back!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Linda Vista. A beautiful home in a fantastic setting. Plenty of room for seven adults, great kitchen with all the amenities, and wonderful wrap around porch to watch the stars. A really relaxing and quiet place to stay, and a nice setting after the commotion of the Winthrop R&B Music Festival. Thanks for everything.
Beautiful house, very well equipped, with access to XC ski trails right outside the front door, and short walk to the pub in Mazama. Perfect for three couples. We had a wonderful time.
We had high expectations after reading previous reviews. They did not prepare us for the extraordinary house and setting we experienced. Our whole family, ages 10 to 69, were impressed and grateful. We will be back!
A beautiful home in an even more beautiful area. My family and I had a wonderful stay and cannot wait to return. The cabin is private, has all the amenities needed, and has close proximity to North Cascades National Park and the town.
We loved this house. It was incredibly comfortable, and charming. Liked that it was eco-friendly. The views were amazing, and it was ideally located for accessing the ski trails - right in between the Freestone Inn and Mazama store. Delicious fresh baked breads and pastries, soups and sandwiches at the Mazama store. It was a nice extra that we were able to use the hot tub at the Freestone Inn. The Methow Valley is an amazing place!
This property was perfect for a relaxing weekend.
It was well suited for our family of 5. And could have easily had another family with us.
The rooms were well accommodating and the kitchen had what we needed to cook in.
Winthrop is a short, easy drive. And the Mazama store is only 5 minutes away.
The views from the cabin were breathtaking. Athena open property made it a great play area for the kids.
Our family will certainly stay here again.
Overall it is a nice property with view to the cascade mountains, quiet location with plenty space for the family. Nice amenities are available in the property. Deer were wondering around during evening, so really relax location for vacation.
Couple things to be aware though. 1. Window covering don't block the light well, so be aware about that. 2. There is no cell coverage around the area, so make sure to have check-in process before handing to the area as key needs to be picked up somewhere else.
Overall still great stay for our family.
We enjoyed our stay at Linda Vista. The home has an elegant, spacious cabin feel to it, from the layout to decor. Very comfortable and relaxing home, easy to stay there and gather as a family. The home is well stocked with essential items in the kitchen, bathrooms, and bedrooms, and has books and games to peruse. The two things we wished it had were a coffee table and a pancake griddle, but hardly showstoppers. The wraparound porch and views up and down valley were gorgeous. Birds danced over the meadow in front of the home and looked at us curiously when we sat on the deck in the sunshine. The Inn at Mazama property managers were very responsive when we had two small issues (a high ceiling smoke alarm battery died and chirped until they came and fixed it with a tall ladder, and a room door accidentally locked and we couldn’t get back in without a master key) and we appreciated that service very much. Overall, Linda Vista is a good place to stay in the Methow. We will definitely return.
