This is a beautiful cabin, located on a gorgeous (and quiet) piece of land.Do note that the term "rustic" should be applied - be prepared to bring your own drinking water, firewood, and use your phone for a hotspot. The cabin has a very limited supply of hot water at a time (not enough for a full bath), and there is no heat in the cabin besides two plug-in radiators a fireplace. The hosts were fantastic in their communication - prompt and very thorough. If looking for a true cabin experience, this is for you!

I always appreciate my guests’ feedback as it lets me know how I can improve. Advertising a “rustic” cabin with as many cozy amenities as my property offers isn’t easy to describe. The cabin is “rustic” because it’s remote, we keep it old-school and environmentally pristine. I offer the following context and clarity to my guests feedback:
1. The water at the cabin is perfectly safe to drink and tastes great. I prefer to bring my own drinking water because the water on the iron range is lightly tinted with mineral. You don’t have to!
2. There’s a large woodpile at the cabin. You may want to pick up some kindling from the local store or use an ax to chip some kindling off the logs in the woodpile.
4. Hot water-don’t run a bath after doing dishes or you will run out! There is enough hot water to take a bath in the small claw foot bathtub. (Its not a suburban soaker tub.) The small water heater is appropriate for the tub, and the environmentally friendly practices I offer. (And there’s a candelabra chandelier above the tub!)
5. Heat—this is a 750 sq ft cabin. There is a huge fireplace—we keep it old-school, plus two radiator style electric heaters—plenty of heat for this style of cabin with open vaulted ceilings. Lots of afghans and warm quilts on the beds!
My daughters and I very much enjoyed our time here! We fished, played games, and enjoyed the rustic peace and quiet this place offers. We would love to go back sometime!
Very nice cabin! Its rustic, and cozy, and open. Its very secluded, and the water can be seen out 3 sides of the sunroom. The water was a bit chilly in mid August, but we went swimming anyway. Very enjoyable stay would definitely recommend!
Cabin was adorable with the bonus being the screened in porch facing the lake. Canoes on site was very nice! Enjoyed taking my wife oit onto the lake. Finally got to put the cell phones down and got to relax away from the world. Loved the seclusion!
The porch and the lake were our favorite part. The bed was comfy the decor cute and rustic. The cleanest water that was refreshing to swim in. Watch out for bugs. We got a lot of bites!
The lake and remoteness are what I especially liked. I went fishing and kayaking. My wife and our guests thought the cabin was a bit too rustic. They did enjoy the lake. The lake has a nice public boat landing in which we could launch our boat. It would have been very quiet if it wasn't for the Merlins (a small member of the falcon family). They did a lot of squawking.
If you are looking for a place to get away from all the hustle and bustle of everyday life this is the place to be!! This rustic little cabin has the best location on the lake, it has everything you need for a comfortable stay, beautiful sunsets, supper quiet evenings, great fishing, no cell signal, and the best hand dipped ice cream just down the road at the antler gas station!! I can go on and on about this place, this is my families second time here and we absolutely love it!! Mary thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful place!! Greatly Appreciated!

This cabin is like walking back in time. It's exactly what you picture when u think of a rustic cabin in the woods. Could use a few amenities like a toaster and a grill brush but all in all we had a great stay. The only issue we had was a water leak in the bathroom sink so we only had cold running water. Unfortunately they couldn't get anyone in to fix it until after we left. It was a a little bit of a pain to have to use the kitchen sink to wash our hands. Other then that everything was great. The location was perfect.

Thanks for suggesting a toaster—I’m on it! (Grill tools were hiding in the back of the drawer). I’m happy to report our wonderful plumber came the day after your Labor Day visit. It was a small drip, but I appreciate your concern in turning off the hot side anyway. That was so thoughtful. Come back any time.
My spouse and I enjoyed a full week here and loved every minute. The lake is gorgeous and the canoe access is super easy. There's a stream that connects you to another lake and that's a blast to try. Biking is wonderful (Route 7 has a huge shoulder), fishing is decent (nibbles on every cast), and the cabin is strikingly beautiful and met all our needs. Cell access is spotty but we got all texts from friends and family. The kitchen has everything you need except a microwave, the tub doesn't have a shower but the handheld nozzle worked great. The bed is quite comfortable but is only a double. The cots are likely great for kids though I found them a little small (I'm 6'1" and 215lbs). The screen porch is wonderful and the fireplace works great. We both strongly recommend this cabin. The host was quite responsive and provided everything we needed.
This is a excellent place and very very nice . this is how it should be in the northern woods the lake is great also, we caught the fish . Mary was great and provided us with all the information . Lots of opportunities at her place .
We really enjoyed the stay at this cabin. The location is unique, so remote and private, the driveway goes on forever through the woods. The lake has minimal boat traffic and no immediately visible neighbors. Thank goodness, there is no TV, so my young daughter could focus on board games, books and exploring. We enjoyed having access to a canoe. Don't forget to bring a mosquito spray, they are very intense in that area. Be aware that there is no firepit.
We stayed 4 nights in July with 2 adults and 4 kids and loved everything about the property. The property was exactly as described and exactly what we were looking for. The lake and setting are gorgeous and with 40 acres of space it feels like you have the place to yourselves. The kids loved the bunk beds and the cabin is classic with cool furniture and appliances and a beautiful sun porch. The kids were thrilled to catch so many fish and explored the woods and enjoyed the wildlife. We ran out of time before we ran out of things to do--4 whole days without them asking for their tablets is a win! The owner was helpful and responsive and welcoming. Overall, a terrific gem on the lake!!!
The cabin was fantastic! The solitude, the wildlife (loons, eagles, deer), the fishing on the lake (bass, pike, blue gill, crappie), the many canoeing trips--we loved it all! We swam in the lake, sat around inside an amazing screen porch and read, listened to the loons, ate wonderful food--it was great. The cabin has an abundance of chairs and reading lights, and given that our family loves to read we took full advantage of that. Our host Mary was very gracious and careful to make sure that our stay was a great experience. We would stay here again.
This is a very sweet cabin w/gorgeous views of a quiet lake from almost anywhere in the cabin. The knotty pine is fresh & warm, and the cabin remains cozy while feeling a bit more spacious than many others ... due in large part to the amazing screened porch (very necessary given the horrible mosquito situation this year).
This lake is thankfully very quiet... on the weekend, some sounds of ATV users and gun-range/target shooters and the hydro planes nearby echoed over the lake, but there very little motorized boat traffic on the lake. Again, compared to many other places, this location is blissfully quiet and remote.
The bed was very comfy & we enjoyed loon songs morning, afternoon, and nighttime. We saw deer, wild turkeys, goose w/goslings, and an otter while on the property. Having a canoe to use to take a couple of sunset spins on the lake was extra special.
The cabin had most everything we'd need and expect. A toaster would have been nice, and we certainly do not expect cell/internet connectivity in a location like this, but we would like to have a guest book w/basic information on cabin operations and check-out, as well as emergency info, directions to local resources, etc.
Also, the water tank is very small and the tub does not have a hand-held shower head; consequently, two adults had to space out time between baths in order to insure enough hot water.
We'd love to come back in the fall...probably will try to make that happen!
My booking was a bit last minute.....so I wondered what I would be getting myself into.....I almost hate to tell people how wonderful it was as it will surely always be rented out the more people that know!
The cabin and grounds are everything you could dream of for a week "up north"-- the driveway to the cabin is a beautiful drive through the woods and the property is situated on a quiet and mostly undeveloped lake. The owners are very responsive and attentive. the 5 stars I gave this stay are not high enough!
you'll love it!
What a wonderful little cabin! Too much to say about this hidden little gem, the fishing was great, the peace and quit throughout the day with the best sunsets in the evenings with loons calling in the background! Great place to unplug and relax! My family could go on and on. Would defiantly like to make this a yearly trip! A big thanks goes out to Mary for sharing such a wonderful place!
Thanks again,
Joe
Mary was wonderful! Don’t hesitate to reach out to her. The property is breathtaking and full of nature. The screened porch and claw foot bathtub were both in the running as my favorite place. My husband and son loved the fishing. We borrowed a boat from a friend. There is a fun surprise on the porch that my kids LOVED! We are definitely wanting to visit again! I could go on and on, but know that this is the perfect place if you are looking to disconnect, bond with family, and enjoy nature! Please turn on and check the hot water for children (one of my common practices). It can get hot fast!
Thank you for this opportunity!
