The property was spotless and well appointed with everything we needed. We enjoyed spending time at the private beach and exploring the nearby hiking areas with our dogs.

Sara … I’m glad you and your family found everything you needed at the cottage. Thanks for switching out the gas grill LP tank with my backup tank. We have some great parks near the cottage along the shores of Lake Ontario … glad you were able to visit them. Thanks for doing a fantastic job tidying up the cottage prior to your departure. You’re welcome back anytime😊
We frequently rent Stumble Beach Cottage for our vacations (I think this summer was our 5th or 6th time). The location is perfect: a quiet, wooded area with a private beach on Lake Ontario. The cottage is beautiful, with all modern amenities, and is exceptionally clean. Communication with our host was a pleasure; he was always accessible to help and answer any questions. We will definitely rent this cottage again.

Anatoliy … It was great to see you and your family again. I’m pleased you had a chance to visit the large animal rescue farm (Alasa Farm) as well as the Sodus Farmers Market during your stay. There are so many roadside veggie & fruit stands and Farmers Markets nearby during August and September, that one can almost skip going to the food stores. I’m thankful we had good weather during your stay, despite how wet the summer has been so far. Thanks for taking good care of the cottage during your stay and for doing such a fine job tidying up before your final departure. You're welcome back anytime!
This was the first time we'd stayed on Lake Ontario and it was a great experience. The property is designed to highlight the lake as you walk from the house to the beach through the woods to a rocky beach. The beach is great for hanging out with morning shade, beautiful sunsets, and this year plenty of driftwood for burning. All along the path guests are asked to paint beach rocks on rainy days and the path is lined with them. The owner loves the property and loves to share it. Highly recommend.
This property is wonderful! Not just the beautiful location right on the lake, but Tom had out-fitted the cottage with everything our family of 4 needed during our stay! Paints for rock painting, tea and coffee, so many seasonings for cooking and many condiments, kayaks and life vests, Alexa to play music and control the lights, chargers in every room on each side of the beds, binoculars for viewing from the lawn furniture by the lake. We had a wonderful time!! Highly recommend!

Heidi … Thank you for your lovely detailed review and for including some great photos of Stumble Beach. I’m thankful that the few days when we had hazy skies (due to the Canadian wildfires) didn’t put a damper on your family’s enthusiasm and desire to explore the Upstate NY environment. Actually, the wildfires can create some sublime and out-of-this-world sunsets. Thanks for doing a great job tidying up the cottage prior to your departure. You’re welcome back anytime!
Loved the quiet location and secluded feel of the property. Tom, the owner, could not have been more courteous and helpful to us during our stay. The property is very well equipped and has so many nice and practical touches! It truly made the stay feel like home. This property has a little something for everyone. We loved it and would definitely recommend it!

Veronica … it was my pleasure to meet you and your family! Thanks for being my 1st guest of 2026 and for doing a spectacular job tidying up the cottage prior to your departure. I wish our cold & wet May weather had been better for you during your visit to the Rochester Lilac Festival. You’re welcome back anytime 😊!
Wow! What an amazing host and beautiful place to stay. Tom pays great attention to details, understands what is important to make you feel comfortable and takes great pride in his property. The house has all the amenities you need and some you didn't even know you wanted. He understands the importance of traveling with your pets and takes great care to make sure those family members feel equally welcome. He also takes great pride in keeping the property clean and well maintained with no evidence that pets were ever there. The private walkway to the beach (also quite private) was not only beautiful but full of little surprises, from the fairy house to the delightful assortment of hand painted rocks. He also provides everything you need to paint your own rocks to add to the collection. It was just the two of us traveling with our two mini dachshunds, but plan to go back next summer with our grandchildren. We give this property, and the host, the highest possible rating.

Dan …. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family. I will forever cherish the lovely water color painting that your wife created of the cottage beach front! Your painted beach stones have been sealed with acrylic clear coat and added to the footpath to the lake. Thanks for doing an OUTSTANDING job tidying up the cottage. Looking forward to seeing you next year!
This was the best VRBO and host we have ever encountered. Tom was incredibly welcoming and helpful when we arrived. He gave us a comprehensive tour of StumbleBeach and all its wonderful amenities. The grounds and A-frame home were beautiful, comfortable, and absolutely nothing was lacking! We enjoyed many days of relaxation on the Ontario beach front. We kayaked and spent hours observing the amazing variety of flora and fauna from tiny frogs to bunnies to white tailed deer. The number and type of birds was also remarkable. Tom is a nature lover and his VRBO is a total reflection of this. We also enjoyed a unique feature that makes this place super-special; Tom provides art materials so that guests can creatively paint stones from the beach. From the numerous painted stones decorating the grounds and fairy-tale beach path, it is easy to see how many others have enjoyed their stay here! We absolutely loved our time at StumbleBeach and would return in a heartbeat. Thank you, Tom, for being such a gracious host and putting your heart and soul into such a special experience!

Andy … it was a pleasure to meet you and your family! Thank you for your kind VRBO review … I just love those photos that you included of the riparian zone! It’s surprising how enjoyable, therapeutic actually, stone painting is! (It must have something to do with the natural texture and 3D aspect of the stone.) Your wife’s collection of painted beach stones will be treasured and placed along the footpath to the lake so that future guests can enjoy her artwork 😊. (My favorite is the RIT Tiger stone!)
Thanks for doing a great job tidying up the cottage prior to your final departure. You’re welcome back anytime! 😊
I have been renting cottages & cabins thru VRBO since 2012.And in all sincerity, I have never had a cottage that offered such an amazing mixture of magic, whimsy, charm and solitude, coupled with all the accoutrements of a 5 Star Luxury Hotel. My stay was such a wonderful experience that I'm planning on booking again for next year.
Bill … I’m glad you were able to make it to the PGA and that the weather cooperated … most of the time. Thanks for taking great care of the cottage during your stay. You’re welcome back anytime!
Our stay at Stumble Beach was AMAZING!! Very relaxing and so much to do. Tom was an excellent host! I would highly recommend staying at Stuble beach!!!

The picturesque grounds and the exposed beams inside the spacious a-frame make this the go to spot! We’re looking forward to our vacation next year! Perfect getaway week!

Joe … I’m so pleased that you and Kathy had a relaxing stay at the Stumble Beach cottage, and hopefully your doxies enjoyed the new sights & smells. Glad you were able to make time for a hike at Chimney Bluffs State Park and view Lake Ontario from a height of 150 feet above the lake … it’s a different perspective for sure! Thanks for leaving the cottage in a pristine condition!!! Hope to see you all again in 2024.
We loved our stay! Tom was easy to communicate with and gave us a tour of the property and what to expect. One of the best properties we’ve ever stayed at! The house was very clean and the property was very well kept! What an absolute paradise!

Summer … it was a pleasure to meet you and your family. Thanks for taking outstanding care of the cottage during your stay and for tidying up so well before you left! Both of your painted stones have been added to the collection of guests’ stones on the footpath to the lake. I hope you were able to take a day trip and visit Niagara Falls. You’re welcome back anytime 😊.
Enjoyed sitting on the deck watching wildlife, kayaking the shoreline, amazing sunsets from the beach, everything was comfy and host provided thorough orientation to be sure we knew our way around his property.

Cindy … I’m glad you were able to sit back and enjoy the peacefulness that the Stumble Beach cottage offers. It’s also good to know that you and Ray were able to rent a slip for your fishing boat next door at Hughes Marina for the week, as well as charter a fishing boat out of Sodus Point. Thanks for taking good care of the cottage during your stay. You’re welcome back anytime.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Stumble Beach Cottage. The A-frame cottage was cozy, clean, and comfortable. The large deck was a relaxing place to enjoy meals and the natural surroundings. The wooded mulch path to the beach was enchanting to walk through and enjoy the large beach and lawn area. Tom is an excellent host and you can see he takes great care of the property.

Russ … it was my pleasure to host you and your extended family at the Stumble Beach cottage. A big thank you for the excellent job you did in tidying up the cottage prior to your departure. You’re welcome back anytime!
Stumble beach was peaceful, relaxing, and exactly as described. If anything, the pictures don’t do it justice! Tom, our host, was communicative & friendly, his guidebooks giving everything from house details to area attractions and eateries; complete with maps, hours, price ranges and phone numbers was a welcome addition (thanks for the recommendation of Pepino’s Tom, our best meal out while there!).Our dog, Buster enjoyed it as much as we did, possibly more. The privacy of the location allowed him to roam the property at his leisure, and the driveway was perfect for morning and evening walks. The pathway to the water was enchanting, our granddaughter loved the faerie house and playground down by the water.Water access was the only thing that was slightly difficult. Water shoes a MUST, and those with young children or limited mobility will find it challenging. Able bodies won’t have a problem at all and we lazed away many afternoons floating on tubes, and spent many hours exploring using Tom’s provided kayaks. We can’t wait to go back!

Jenn … It was my pleasure to host you & your family at Stumble Beach and I’m elated that you all had a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Thanks for texting me during your stay that the loft A/C unit wasn’t pumping out cool air. (I replaced the unit immediately after your stay.) Even with Lake Ontario being 1.5 ft above normal water levels, it’s important for guests to bring water shoes for getting into and out of the lake … so my future guests, who read the VRBO reviews, Thank You for mentioning that fact. Peppino’s restaurant has the best Italian Cuisine this side of NYC. You can now cross off “Kayak on Lake Ontario” from your bucket list. 😊 Many thanks for taking such great care of the cottage during your stay and for doing an outstanding job tidying up prior to your departure. You folks are welcome back anytime!!! Lastly, thanks for uploading some of your photos to share with future VRBO guests.
Betsy … it was a pleasure to meet you and your family. Thanks for capturing the spirit of the Stumble Beach Cottage so succinctly 😊. Also, thanks for doing a great job tidying up prior to your departure. You’re welcome back anytime!
wonderful cozy cottage… loved the treetop patio with peekaboo view of the lake and the fairy trail to the beach. The only issue is the rocks are quite treacherous getting in and out of the water but doable when the water is calm. We ended up driving to chimney bluffs to swim which is not far and a Gorgeous spot. Incredible sunsets! The host is amazing and the cottage is very well stocked. Can’t wait to come back to this special place!

Lisa, it was my pleasure to host you and your extended family at the Stumble Beach cottage. Your comments on the beach are spot on. Although the beach isn’t really steep, one needs to step very carefully over the stones to access Lake Ontario for swimming, tubing, or kayaking.
Folks really need to be wearing water shoes as the stones at the very edge of the water are typically slippery. As an alternative to the cottage beach, there’s a free sandy beach at Sodus Point just 12 mins away, and as you mentioned, a public beach 30 minutes away at the east entrance to Chimney Bluffs State Park.
Thanks for doing a fantastic job tidying up before your departure. Looking forward to seeing you folks again in the future!
We had a great time staying at this private cottage on Lake Ontario. The owner was great at showing us the property when we arrived. Everything you need is at the cottage. Amenities everywhere! Would highly recommend!

Alex … it was a pleasure to meet you and your family. Your 4-mile trek via kayak, from the cottage to Pultneyville and back, for a beer run, has inspired me to do the same.😊 I’m glad you were able to visit & hike Chimney Bluffs State Park with your dog as the glacial deposited drumlins and spires along the Lake Ontario coastline are w/o question … unique. Many thanks to you & your family for tidying up the cottage so well. You’re welcome back anytime!
Such a beautiful property on the banks of Lake Ontario in the middle of apple orchards. Home was beautiful and open and extremely clean. Homeowner was fabulous and made us feel very welcome. We would definitely book this property again.

I’m so glad that you enjoyed your stay at Stumble Beach, Amanda. For sure … September is a month when the boat traffic on Lake Ontario begins to thin out as the end of the boating season approaches. This drop in boating traffic makes the cottage all that much more a place of solitude where the only sounds you hear are waves and bird calls. Thanks for doing an exemplary job tidying up the cottage prior to your departure. Looking forward to seeing the three of you again in 2022!
Wonderful home in a beautiful and private setting. The house was very comfortable and well appointed. We sat right in front of Lake Ontario watching the boaters on the lake. Enjoyed bonfires at night. Hope to return next year.

Mitch … it was a pleasure to meet you and Pam. That’s great that you were able to make some bonfires on the beach in the evening hours. Thanks for keeping my new bamboo plants hydrated and for the fantastic job you two did tidying up the cottage prior to your departure. You’re welcome back anytime! PS: Pam’s painted lake stones are magnifique!!! 😊
My husband and I stayed here for a quick getaway, and the place was perfect!
Tom puts so much care into every detail of the home, and it shows. Everything is clean and inviting, the home has a great layout and is easy to use.
The view of Lake Ontario is absolutely unbeatable, and it's within driving distance of tons of state parks, including Niagara Falls for a day trip.
Would highly recommend booking if you're looking to stay in the area!

Amanda … A big thank you to you and your husband for your kind VRBO review and for leaving the cottage in a near spotless condition! I’m pleased that we had reasonably good weather (for the month of May) during your stay. Hopefully you got a chance to capture some great photos of the sun setting into Lake Ontario. You’re welcome back anytime! 😊
Very comfortable, secluded, beautiful inside and outside cottage! Very friendly and helpful host! Perfect temperatures of water and air, clear water (we even snorkeled).
We enjoyed watching small birds at the birdfeeders, heron was visiting the pond often.
Location is very good too: many places to see, many wineries and cideries to visit, grocery stores nearby while being surrounded by nature and farms.
