About this property
Panoramic Island studded views! Spectacular ledge rock setting!
Vermilion Miles Away Lodge is a custom log cabin set against a spectacular ledge rock outcropping with 6 acres of wilderness, 380 feet of shoreline, and 40,000 acres of Lake Vermilion to explore! Breathtaking panoramic island studded views await!
The log cabin boasts 2,700 square feet, 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, a huge loft with amazing views overlooking the lake, and a wood burning sauna house complete with a shower, sink, and futon. A short walk through the woods brings you to your own secluded wilderness picnic area and fire pit on a rocky point in Pike Bay. Hang out down on the lake on the amazing platform deck right on the water! Umbrella, hammocks, lounge chairs, two fishing kayaks, and paddleboat included! There is also a ladder on the dock for easy access for swimming right at the dock. It is about 4' deep at the end of the dock with no rocks, great for jumping in and swimming or hooking a lily pad up to the dock and lounging in the water. The lake bottom is slightly muddy at the end of the dock and transitions to sand/gravel about halfway down the dock. Great for hanging out in thigh deep water right off the platform deck with your favorite drink.
The cabin is conveniently located less than 2 miles down the road from Fortune Bay Casino and The Wilderness Golf Course, the #2 ranked public golf course in Minnesota! Many other adventures await including miles of snowmobiling and ATV trails, a 40 minute drive to the Iron Range Off-Highway Vehicle State Recreation Park, a 10 minute drive to the Soudan Mine State Park, a 30 minute drive to Giant's Ridge Golf and Ski Hill, and a 25 minute drive to the beautiful town of Ely! There is a boat launch at Fortune Bay Casino just down the road, as well as ample dock space at the cabin for your boat on calm Pike Bay! The state snowmobile trail is on the lake directly in front of the cabin too!
The perfect escape for your summer and winter plans! Grab your fishing poles, golf clubs, skis, snowmobiles, ATVs, and sense of adventure! Something for every season. Book your stay now!
*Note: cabin does not have air conditioning for summer month rentals at this time. Average daytime highs are 80 degrees and overnight lows of 60 degrees from June-August.

This is a wonderful place for a family vacation! Plenty of space, beautiful view! We really enjoyed spending our time at the lake! Would definitely recommend!
Loved the property! Beautiful views and privacy!Close to a lot of amenities and town! The cabin had a lot of room to spread out, and everyone enjoyed using the sauna even on the hot days!Would definitely recommend!
We enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was well stocked with kitchen amenities and the place was cozy! Loved the view and we want to come back in the summer to really utilize the late access, swimming and boating!
We booked this cabin for a family trip for our family of 4 plus 2 relatives. The cabin has a nice and functional kitchen and plenty of sleeping space. Location and views were great. A couple minor issues - there was 1 roll of paper towels provided for the week. The refrigerator was not cooling anything for the first 24 hours until we found setting to adjust. Swimming off the dock was mucky and not very deep. The biggest issues we faced were environmental - there was a heat wave that made the cabin extremely hot for the first 2 days, and wild fires in the area made air quality terrible the last 2 days. There is no AC in the cabin, which meant no break from the conditions outside at all. Due to having the windows open, the air quality was an issue. The owner did make sure we had plenty of fans, but unfortunately it was almost 90 degrees inside for the first 2 days, and smoky. Our older family members left to stay at a hotel which impacted our overall experience, and cost extra. Cabin is pet friendly, with nice outdoor areas. Unfortunately we didn't get to use the sauna, fire pits or game room due to conditions. We were given a refund of 1 full night after directly asking. I would definitely get insurance if booking in the summer. The rates are high with fees, and a late check in and early check out made it feel extremely expensive for the time spent and overall experience.

Thank you for the feedback and I apologize your stay did not meet expectations. It was a record heat wave up there for those couple of days and I wanted to make sure you were compensated for the extra cost of needing to get hotel rooms for some of your guests during the extreme heat. The average high during summer is 78 degrees and lows are typically around 58-60 degrees throughout the summer, which typically allows the cabin to cool down nicely in the evenings and overnight. The renters who checked in the day after you even requested to turn the heat on! The wildfire smoke also must not have been pleasant. I would be more than happy to offer you another stay at a discounted rate so that you can enjoy the cabin and Lake Vermilion as it should be. In regards to check in/check out, the cabin is large with three bathrooms and the sauna shower, so cleaning can take several hours, which is why check in is 4pm and check out is 10am. Frequently, I am able to offer an early check to guests when requested (around 2pm).
My family had a blast at this property. Swimming, fishing, checking out local attractions and events. The week went by too quickly. We hope to be back soon!!
