About this property

Utah Ultimate Retreat; Luxurious & Nestled at the Base of Big Cottonwood Canyon

The Hive offers spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains from the primary suite & the private backyard. You can sip a drink, use the BBQ & soak in the hot tub taking in the views. The Hive is a block walking distance to local shops and a supermarket and gas station, along with numerous parks & endless hiking and biking trails, right out of the front door. It has bus stops along Bengal Blvd, on the corner road, and it is a quick 20-minute drive to downtown Salt Lake City. Easy access to local nightlife, award winning restaurants, distilleries & breweries with exceptional food anywhere from the Hive.
Up the Big & Little Cottonwood canyons, just a 15-min drive up, you will be in 4 world-class ski resorts – Brighton, Solitude, Alta & Snowbird. Ski resorts north of Salt Lake & Park City resorts are a 35-40-minute drive, while Sundance Mountain Resort is a 60-minute drive.
The Hive is designed and furnished with utmost comfort in mind. Every room provides an experience inside and out. The home has been decorated with eclectic furniture and furnishings from afar. The interior style elegantly incorporates designs aspects from several countries into a single room with a wide range of international influences.
The bedrooms have very comfortable mattresses and bedding. The master bedroom is large, with a sitting area and a sizable working desk. It also has two big size walk-in closets. The master bathroom has a deep soaking tub and a shower to fit two people comfortably. The W/C is separate for maximum privacy. The Jack & Jill bedrooms are a good size, with spacious closets, each with a desk. One of the bedrooms has a QN size bed and the other a King. The Hive location is serene, and the road is quiet, and all bedrooms have black out curtains to guarantee quality sleep. The Hive was professionally furnished by the host who is an international interior designer initially for mid-term and corporate rental. All spaces were well thought through. The Hive has a 2F landing which was set up with a workstation, monitor and printer, as well as a seating area for small one-on-one meetings. The Hive is furnished with Smart TVs and high-speed internet at 300 MBPs. The Hive offers an assortment of board games, as well as outdoor games like paddle ball, volleyball, badminton, and keep fit tools and yoga equipment. Guests have a private enclosed garden with a 6-person hot tub, grill, fire pit and table for 6 and garden seating to enjoy these amenities with fabulous views of the Wasatch range where stargazing is just the thing everyone does. There are no lamp posts as The Hive is very close to an Observatory. The night sky is a particularly awesome feature of this home.
Everything one could want to have or do in a vacation home during their stay is provided. Hosts live nearby and are 24 X 7 available to cater to the individual needs of their guests.
The Hive is entirely available for guests. There is a separate 1-Bed Basement Apartment below. Entry to this apartment is separate. Guests won't know if there is anyone occupying the lower level as it is very private. The 2-car garage and concrete slab in front of the garage is for the exclusive use of The Hive guests. The Hive Guests will receive a text and an email from the host with all necessary instructions, including how to enter the property along with the Digital version of The Hive Welcome Book that contains all the hosts favorite local eateries, entertainment suggestions as well as information on parks, hikes, skiing, and other recreation activities available.
The Hive is very well cared for. The hosts are very particular about ensuring guests have a memorable experience while in their home. Part of the customer’s journey, besides being in an idyllic location, is experiencing the interior furnishings that display several one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture art, collectibles from the 7 countries the hosts have lived in.
If guests plan on booking longer stays, more than 2 calendar weeks, a cleaning crew will service the home every two weeks to ensure maximum guest satisfaction. No one wants to clean a home during their vacation, but everyone enjoys an orderly and clean environment to spend time in. Hosts will arrange cleaning directly with guests.
Hosts welcome mid-term rental guests, too. Families that are looking for temporary housing, in one of the top locations to live in the city with easy access to the mountains, with all amenities, including a fully stocked home for a family of 6, The Hive fits their needs. The Hive is pet friendly with a gated garden. However, the hosts would like the flexibility to vet pets that The Hive can accommodate, depending on the type/size/noise/shedding/potty trained, etc. Hosts prefer to discuss with potential mid-term renters directly whether their pet will fit the requirements. For mid-term rental inquiries, the hosts request guests to inquire directly, as mid-term rates are other than the published, and are set monthly. These monthly rates fluctuate from higher in the summer/winter and lower in the spring/fall months.
If you are looking to spend your best holiday, in a fantastic location in the mountains, in a beautiful house to call home, look no further.

Perfect location between Canyons
We've rented a lot in this neighborhood and hands down, Bya and Rick and their beautiful house is the BEST. Well equipped; super friendly and accessible hosts; super clean ; beds were VERY comfortable; view from top floors was stunning. Access to hot tub, grill, fire pit made us want to hang around the house. Bya has thought of everything you might need. Also gave great recs on what to see/do locally. We look forward to staying again next year!

Amazing property
This place was perfect! We came to ski so the location to the canyons couldn't have been better... never had to deal with the notorious"ski traffic" because we were right here. Also close to freeways, coffee, restaurants... basically it's location is perfect. The host was over the top sweet and helpful. And the property was unbelievably clean. Definitely staying here again next season!

About the host

Host profile image
I am originally from Brazil and my husband is from Wisconsin. Rick works in Global Sourcing and I am an International Interior Designer. Both Rick and I have a passion for investing in properties and we transform tired properties into desirable renovated abodes. We love travelling and meeting people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. We are a multi-cultural family, with 3 grown children who were born in different countries as combined we have lived in 7 countries to date.
If our guests are open we always reach out and invite them for a dine-out to meet and greet. Several of our guests have kept in touch and become friends. Our first guests, from Russia, now live in Estonia, where our son Alex attended an event and they got together to catch up after 4 years. This is the essence of being hosts. It gives you the unique opportunity to meet people from all walks of life and foster new relationships and we love that!

Why they chose this property

Cottonwood Heights is well-known as a gateway to world-class canyon recreation areas, but it is also home to fantastic parks and recreation opportunities right within its city limits. It is a very walkable and safe neighborhood. A mile down the road from The Hive, guests have access to the Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center, with all kinds of amenities to name a few: Olympic indoor/outdoor pools, sauna, pickleball, racquetball, basketball, and volleyball courts. It has a fully equipped gym along with several exercise classes you can book for $5/person. It also has a skate ring that operates year-round.
One of the more popular hikes in Big Cottonwood Canyon is Lake Blanche. The hike is about 3 miles one way, but a thigh busting 2700' of gain along the way. Just before you reach Lake Blanche, the trail climbs above tree line to an idyllic alpine setting with towering peaks, glacier-carved rock outcroppings, and stunning views in all directions. Given the gain and distance, this ranks as a moderate-difficult hike taking about 4.5 hours to and from. Bring a picnic, as I think a big part of the charm is spending some time taking in the views and visiting the other nearby lakes. Because of the elevation, this hike is often snowed in until late spring or early summer and can have snow by mid-fall. High summer is the time to visit for wildflowers, while early to mid-fall can bring a stunning foliage display that any respectable leaf peeper would enjoy. Pictures are added in the listing as pictures can tell a thousand words.
There are so many activities to list... come check it out for yourselves. As your host I say it is the most beautiful mountain living neighborhood I have ever seen and experienced. You will never get bored or run out of things to do, places to visit in any season. The winter months are all about skiing, as we have the best snow on Earth!

What makes this property unique

We feel our property is fabulous. It is in a AAA location with incredible views, professionally finished, furnished and well stocked. You literally have everything. You only need to bring your personal items, like your clothes. It is in a fantastic location, walkable to shops and at the mouth of the Big & Little Cottonwood Canyons. Within 30-minutes you can get anywhere in the valley or in the mountains.
