I usually don't write reviews but MY GOD this place blew us away! Mark and Gemma were the best hosts anyone could ask for and their place is outstanding! They know a LOT about St Thomas/John and neighboring islands. They have lots of mangoes, passion fruits, and other tropical fruits when you go during the season! The bnb's are located on the tippy top of the mountain with breathtaking views! 100% need a rental car. We will definitely be coming back and would recommend to anyone looking for an awesome getaway.

Be aware, this place has no air conditioning
My family and I were very excited to book Cecil’s corner for our annual St. Thomas vacation. We arrived after a long day of traveling to find out that we booked a home for 8 nights WITHOUT air conditioning. I am not sure how none of the 5 star reviews mentioned this. The first evening was so hot and stuffy even with all of the windows open. We had to scramble to stay at a hotel for the night and book another place to stay for our trip. Gemma did refund me 25% of our stay, but honestly I don’t think that’s enough. Sure, maybe A/C wasn’t listed in the amenities- but I didn’t think to look under all 69 plus amenities per property when we were looking for places to stay. I think if you don’t offer something like A/C to tourists- that should be clearly noted in your description. We know so many people who vacation to St. Thomas and talked to so many people about our experience when we were there, they were all appalled that this happened to us. The hosts were nice, communication was great, but the no air conditioning killed it for us. I would not recommend this property, it nearly ruined our vacation and we could have done another St. Thomas vacation for what we spent trying to rectify this situation.

Beware: This guest does not read and expects things that are NOT listed. Reading is fundamental. Nothing in this listing says this unit has A/C. As she stated none of the other 5-star listing indicated a problem because they read the description. This guest is better suited for hotels.
Gemma and Mark are outstanding and amazing hosts. After having a horrible experience with Spirit Airline, Gemma and Mark made our day when they welcomed my family and I to their beautiful home.
The home is nice and spacious. Very...very clean. They provided everything for us from toiletries, seasonings to their own garden. They have a garden of vegetables, spices and Papaya. My children ages 15,14,12,11 said, this home and island is better than Hawaii we went to Hawaii last year 2021 and guess what I totally agree. Gemma and Mark home has an AMAZING VIEW to other islands. The view of the ocean made our mornings full of peace and to simply embraze life. It was Sooo peaceful and quite. The home has a garden, area to sit outside and enjoy the weather. It also has a shower in the back to be used after coming from the beach to remove the sand. My family and I absolutely recommend this beautiful place if you're looking for a place to stay while you visit St. Thomas. You do need to rent a car to get to the home because it's on the top of the mountain but please don't get discourage you won't be dissapointed. The view is amazing it's definitely paradise. It's a bit hard to see the beautiful view pictures. When we got to the home we forgot all the stresses that Spirit put us through and honestly we forgot about Illinois for an entire week we were there. We were so at ease like Gemma said, "Welcome home" and she was definitely right. We all felt like home. My family and I will definitely come back and stay with these awesome and knowledgeable hosts. Once again, Thank you!!!Gemma and Mark for having us from the bottom of my heart.
Mark and Gemma are great and a wealth of information. View of the Caribbean and sunrise is awesome. Just minutes from beautiful beaches, Margaritaville, and activities at Red Hook bay.
We could not have been happier having stayed with Gemma and Mark while we were in St Thomas. Our family of four felt so comfortable and and relaxed when we stayed here. The unit is much more vibrant with color and personality than you can see in the pictures provided. The views were breathtaking and the hosts were the best anyone could ask for. They left you to yourselves unless you wanted or needed anything, but we enjoyed their company so much that we engaged with them often.
It was a pleasure to learn so much from them, which included everything from the history of the island, to what local plants and species could be found on the property. My daughters delighted in spotting green parakeets and iguana right on the property.
The hosts were exceptional. They went above and beyond the expected at every opportunity. They helped us find proper transportation when our previously arranged car rental was a no show at the airport. It had nothing to do with them, but they cared enough to help us when we needed it. When we expressed our concern about the lack of recycling found on the island, they went out of their way to ensure the vast amount of plastic we had collected during our stay would be recycled. This is no easy feat on St Thomas. They gave us free range of the property to pick any fresh produce we wanted, and they even taught us how to make a local dish with what we gathered.
The list of why you should stay here is endless. If you are looking for a quiet place to recharge yourself with stunning views on the top of the mountain in St Thomas, this is the place for you.
Gemma was amazing and very helpful. Property was also amazing. The garden and view are hard to beat. Only complaint was it's hard to get a taxi, but if that's the cost for the view it's worth it.
Photographs are simply inadequate to capture this property, its stunning views and incredible experience. Of course, COVID had us all clamoring for relief from what has felt like an endless nightmare of unknowns and say whens. (When will this virus be gone?!) So, when we found this property, we had no ideal as to just how safe, healing and amazing the experience would be. At this "little piece of heaven", we found serenity, joy, peace, gentle breezes, and an absolutely breathtaking view to wake up to every morning (morning smiles guaranteed). We explored the entire island--- a lot, and also took the car ferry to St. Johns, which proved to be yet another fascinating experience. On one of our many escapades, when it rained a bit at brunch, we ended up enjoying gourmet pancakes, vegan quiche, and passion-fruit mimosas at a roadside bar with some lovely peeps from the UK! Everywhere you go/look there's a new, picturesque, gotta have this picture kind of view! The people on the island were very friendly, open, and engaging. (I miss them already.) The local food was quite tasty, and offered great variety for our three very different palates. We cooked at the villa most mornings, and ate out a lot. (By the way, there are sweetsop, papaya, and mango trees on the villa grounds!) And, the hosts -- Gemma and Marc-- are two beautiful souls, who were always available, caring, and attentive to our needs. (There should be an extra charge just for them!) I luv, love, loved this property. Can't wait to return. If you should be so lucky as to get the opportunity to stay at this property-- Jump at it!
