Enjoyed our stay at this beautiful spot on the lake. The cabin was great and almost everything you could need was provided. A great experience and we will definitely visit again !
Amazing views from the top of the lake. RIGHT. ON. THE. LAKE. Kayaking was great. Porch swing was relaxing. Decor was rustic in the best way. A real throwback, somehow also modernized. Loved it!
Rustic means rustic. This place has the most beautiful setting, right on the lake. The porch over looking the lake is a perfect place to hang out. The lake is great for swimming, but bring croks or water shoes. The house itself is cute and cozy. The AC was very helpful in late July, when it can feel like 60 in the am, and 85 in the afternoon. We had an issue with pest control that was unfortunate but I think it can be remedied with a shock & awe pest control effort. I performed a good bit of extermination while at the house.
At the quiet end of the lake with lots of wildlife (birds, loons, deer). My husband loved getting up in the wee hours of the morning and fishing and I loved my tea on the porch. The house itself is beautiful - quirky and cozy and we loved reading about the history. It had everything we could have possibly needed and was only about 15 minutes from Cooperstown's restaurants and attractions. We can't wait to come back. I sincerely thank you for sharing your lovely home with others. It was a magical weekend.

Thank you for your lovely review. We are so happy you enjoyed your stay in this very special and tranquil spot. This is a lovely handcrafted home ~ rustic and charming. We so appreciate your feedback and welcome your return.
I almost hate to leave a good review because I want to keep it to myself!
This is our second stay and we just love this place. It is NOT fancy and in the midst of the summer, you may long for a/c on the first floor . BUT it is the perfect, quiet location (and yet close enough to Cooperstown) and we love this quirky little cabin. It has everything you might need in terms of amenities and supplies. We love having a washer/dryer so we can pack lighter. My husband had a great time fishing and I enjoyed birdwatching. We can't wait to come back!

Not worth it
Not as nice as pics make it. Not worth the money. The lawn was mowed while we were there trying to have lunch on the porch. He was there well over an hour. Another day, the owners "good friend" came through yard with a dog claiming she didn't know someone was there. Obviously sent to check is out, she seemed very nervous. The house is very hot even with the stand alone air-conditioners. The property is very private and the beach firepit was great. Overall we had a decent time but have stayed in much better for less.

We are sorry to hear that you were dissatisfied with your experience. We strive to ensure that our listings and photos accurately describe the property, and since reading your review, we have revisited those items to see if there were any inaccuracies. We stand by our description, and feel that the rustic nature of the cottage and its limited amenities (no TV or dishwasher) is clearly stated. The location is pristine with a wonderful beach area and gradual grade into the water ~ a rare find on our beautiful lake. The nightly rate is reflective of the Otsego Lake market.
Considering we don't have set turnover days, or control over the forecast, which was quite rainy this September, it is nearly impossible for us to manage the schedule for the lawn maintenance folks. We can appreciate that the timing was not ideal for you, but feel it is unfortunate that it was reflected in your minimal rating considering the lawn must be maintained regularly, which of course is for the satisfaction of our guests.
Lastly, as this community in particular is owned by extended family members who have been coming to visit every summer, having an occasional person walk through from one cottage to another along the established path, is commonplace. I assure you, no-one was sent to check on you. More than likely, they felt uncomfortable for imposing upon you by passing through during your stay.
Very cozy cabin with new A/C units in the upstairs bedrooms. We were very comfortable. The space was fully stocked with everything we needed. We only had to purchase our personal groceries. Truly enjoyed the use of the kayaks and the lakefront area was perfect! We would stay there again in a heartbeat! Thanks for a great vacation for our family!
We loved this hand built cottage on Lake Otsego. The property is beautiful, and part of a larger property owned for 100 years by the same family. The house itself is a little rustic, but has a full working kitchen, two baths, and a washer dryer. The only thing missing was ac, but we didn't really miss it with all the screen windows and fans.
