About this property

Classic beach house in walking distance of coffee, food, and THE BEACH

This house is classic, "real" (as an OBX native told me) OBX house. It has both a front porch, and sun room, and a large deck on the back of the house. The yard is fully fenced with a fire pit and an enclosed outdoor shower with hot/cold running water. Inside is a comfortable living area marrying classic cottage with updated furnishings. We kept the charming features of the original kitchen and added a new stove and fridge. The kitchen is stocked with everything you need to prepare a great meal. The largest bedroom has a queen size bed and the half bath. The second bedroom has a full bed and the third bedroom has a twin sized bed. All bedrooms have dressers to store your clothing. There is a sleeper sofa in the sunroom, as well. Please bring your own towels and bed linens or consider a local linen service:

I'm a professor at a community college in Virginia. I've been a paramedic and EMS educator for over 20 years. I'm married to a paramedic and we have 4 adult children, including our daughter-in-law. For the past 30 years, we've been taking our kids to the OBX, meeting family here, and enjoying ourselves with friends.One of our children was a cast member of The Lost Colony for 2 years in a row. Our son married his wife here, on the beach, four years ago, I bring my nieces here whenever I can, we like to celebrate Thanksgiving at the OBX every so often- in short, the OBX is a hub for our family.

Why they chose this property

I bought this house sight unseen, apart from a handful of photos online. When my children and I first saw it we were simultaneously delighted/disappointed. The previous owner had left behind a lot of, shall we say, stuff. We put in a lot of hard work painting and removing the "stuff." Knowing it was a project we worked on together makes it more meaningful for all of us. We wanted to be able to ride our bikes and walk to the beach if possible, without breaking the bank.

What makes this property unique

This house is perfect for small family gatherings. It's large enough for people to have their own space, and small enough for togetherness, game playing, toasting marshmallows, grilling on the deck, playing cornhole out back, and watching TV.
