It was an ok stay. Definitely not worth the money though. Communication with owner wasn’t good, always came off as rude. Wasn’t the cleanest. Also wish there had been something to say what was near by. Was told about the river but when you go to it there’s all private property signs so what we thought we’d be able to enjoy we couldn’t. Overall disappointing stay and a waste of money.
We really enjoyed our stay at the Falling Leaf Cabin. It was just what we were looking for. The cabin had a nice log cabin feel and the fire place and hot tub really made it all come together.
For Christmas my partner and I decided to book a weekend trip away together. Falling Leaf Cabin was perfect for the occasion. The town, the views, and the hot tub were all amazing. Just what we envisioned and wanted. The cabin was warm and cozy. Perfect for the two of us but could definitely fit more. We are looking forward to coming back for a longer stay! Thank you!
From the moment we walked in, we were impressed with the cleanliness and the minimal nature of the cabin. The highlight was the gas fireplace that warms the entire cabin and the hot tub outside. Beds were very comfortable, linens provided along with plenty of towels. Kitchen fully stocked with utensils, plates, etc. Although wi-fi is a little slow, was able to stream shows on our iPad and AirPlay to the TV.
Even though the cabin is semi-isolated from the neighbors, we never felt unsafe or cut off from civilization.
Centrally located about 10 min from Luray and 30 min to New Market or Front Royal and 45 min from Skyline Drive. After a full day of hiking or exploring the caverns, we loved retreating to our cabin. Enjoying the hot tub under the stars with the cold air was so refreshing and then curling up in front of the fireplace to finish the night. In the morning, letting the fireplace warm the cabin was icing on top.
Andrea was very kind and communicative. Highly recommend using her cabin - enjoyed every moment in the cabin!
**5 Stars – Perfect Cabin Getaway**
We had an incredible stay at this charming little cabin! It was exactly as described—clean, cozy, and stocked with all the essentials we needed for a comfortable visit. The views were breathtaking, and we enjoyed every moment taking in the scenery. The host’s attention to detail made the cabin feel like a home away from home. Whether we were sipping coffee on the deck, chilling in the hot tub under the stars or unwinding by the fireplace, it was peaceful and relaxing throughout. Highly recommend for anyone looking to escape to a beautiful and well-maintained retreat. Can't wait to come back!
The cabin was clean and comfortable in a very nice setting, in the woods overlooking the river. Everything was as described in the listing, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We will definitely return!
My husband and I both loved this property. The location was absolutely beautiful. The set up of the house was sweet and very quaint for the 2 of us. Everything we needed was provided for cooking and linens so we didn't have to worry about packing those things. The only issue we did have was a bit of cleanliness. With it being a log house spider webs are expected but there were water bottles left under beds and glasses weren't thoroughly cleaned. Just a few small things of that sort minus that we would absolutely stay again. The host was amazing with details and check in.
My husband and I booked this cabin for a quick weekend getaway and the entire experience was awesome. We especially enjoyed the back porch, even on hot days we sat out there most of the day enjoying the view of the forest and mountains in the background. We did have some insect visitors, 2 large garden/wolf spiders made their way inside the cabin which gave us some anxiety but we realize that this is a nature of being out in the wilderness. We also saw several large imperial moths outside the cabin but that was kind of cool because we had never seen anything like them before in person. Regardless, we had such a nice weekend and would love to come back soon. The only recommendation we have is that the cabin had a lot of spider/cob webs in every room that could have been cleaned up better, but again, it's a rustic cabin so some of that is to be expected otherwise, the rest of the cabin was clean and comfortable.
A very nice cabin in a quiet wooded location a few miles outside Luray. We stayed for three nights over the 4th of July holiday and had a great time. Highly recommended.
This cabin was perfect for a peaceful getaway. It was clean and well taken care of. The porch was my favorite part of the house! What a great way to get away from busy northern Virginia!
Husband and I just needed a little weekend away and this cabin was perfect. The amenities were wonderful. Beds and couch were very comfy. The pans and dishes were much better than cabins we have stayed in previously making it so much easier to cook and keep things clean. Would definitely stay away

About the host
Hosted by Andrea With Mountain Whisper Cabins
Mountain Whisper Cabins was founded in 2005 after purchasing the cabin I grew up in and settling back into the Valley.
My mother moved to the Shenandoah Valley in 1969 with 3 children and 1 one the way. I was the one on the way. In the fall of 1970, My Uncle Joe, Aunt Jackie and my mother, Nancy, began Shenandoah River Outfitters with two old aluminum canoes and a dream.
Why they chose this property
The Falling Leaf was added to my cabin business in 2009. My, Uncle Joe, wrote, “[Shenandoah] I dipped my paddle in your life and you refreshed me.” The valley is a place to fill your soul in all the seasons, and I would like to share it with you.
What makes this property unique
Falling Leaf is the Quintessential Cabin nestled in the woods in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley and is walking distance to the Legendary Shenandoah River.
