Great, clean & Cute

We just stayed for a few days but really liked the walkable distance to all the action. The home was very clean and well-stocked if you stay longer and use the kitchen. The hairdryer was broken so I messaged the host and the rental company went and bought a new hairdryer that day and left it for us. Great, quick communication. We would recommend to anyone staying in the area.

Just a few kinks, but great overall

We were happy to see how accurate the listing was compared to the property. Very clean, well-stocked - except for the Keurig shown in the kitchen photos -- not there. No biggie, used ground coffee with no problem.Parking was more of a challenge than we thought it would be -- several times the house next door had more than two cars and parked in front of our house. Still, not a huge problem. The reason we gave it a 4 instead of a 5 was because there were no closets. A couple of dressers, but if we had more than just the two of us, we would have had to buy a portable clothing rack to put our hanging clothes!Note to Vacasa - please consider having a portable clothing rack available, to add to the door hooks.Otherwise, a great stay!

Very enjoyable stay

We loved our stay! The accommodations were comfortable and very cutely decorated. Having coffee outside by the fire pit among the pretty plants and watching the little green anole lizards run by was my favorite! Very convenient location, about a 15 minute walk to historic downtown, although we chose to drive. Would definitely stay again in this location next time we’re in the area

Nice old cottage within walking distance of attractions

Someone did a good job updating and remodeling this old cottage, with few corners cut. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you may need.

Amazing family Christmas vacation in historic St. Augustine!

Loved the property. Great space for family of 4 adults and 2 children. Fantastic outdoor fire pit in private backyard with a covered deck and barbecue. Short walk to main street and all the Christmas festivities. St. Augustine truly takes Florida Christmas to the max! Probably not bad during other times of the year. 🙂 Highly recommend this property.

Historic home was beautiful

We had a great family vacation here. We loved the proximity to down town and the rich history of the home. The house was decorated beautifully and immaculate when we arrived. The owners love this home and it shows. However, there is no toaster and no Keurig even though they were advertised. And personally id bring a mattress topper for the queen bed as it is not very comfortable. But all in all our trip to this home was great.

Very Nice!

Wonderful place to stay! Pictures are as shown. They did a really good job remodeling the home. Easy to walk to historic town and the fort. There is a cute loft to climb up into and my teens loved it. There are no railings in the loft area which was fine for us however recommend keeping this in mind if you have small children who love to climb.

Cute little home!

Super clean home. Kitchen was very well stocked they even had seasonings! Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay for the 4th of July week, walking distance to historic st. Augustine. Super close to beaches. The only downfall was parking on the street. It was a constant fight for parking. Had to pay for parking on the 4th because there was absolutely no space on Bernard st.

No heat in February

We told the management that the heaters in the bedrooms weren’t working and they told us they’d send someone and never did. We were without heat for very cold nights in February. We also killed 8 roaches in the kitchen. It’s a shame because the property is as charming as the photos suggests and the backyard is nice & location is great, but it needs better support staff. Glad they stay was only a couple of days, because we didn’t rest well.

A visit together with family

We enjoyed our stay in this very well appointed and beautifully decorated cottage. Easy check in, close to attractions but located on a street with some abandoned houses, comfortable beds and basic essentials available to use upon checking in were very helpful. The firepit was a great place to gather to warm up and roast marshmallows. I give it 3 stars because although over all it was clean, under the couch and beds were surprisingly dirty with other guests' left overs. I only know this because having a 3 yr old grandson with us, some toys rolled under these areas and upon retrieving, I found left over trash, underwear, rolled up papers and items that should have been cleaned up prior to our arrival. The cottage was also very cold and heating it was a struggle. I don't know if the rains caused the beautiful bathroom to have a very unpleasant smell most days and nights, but it was so strong at times, it was unbearable. Having a washer and dryer was a big plus and the kitchen was fully equipped with all needed.

Wonderful uptown cottage close to old town

The cottage was so, so cute and spotless. The master bedroom was very welcoming and the layout made the floorplan appear much bigger. It was perfect for the two of us. The house is one block off a busy street but the traffic noise did not bother us at night. We were an easy walk to historic old town. We highly recommend this house to others. The reasons for not giving 5 stars was to differentiate the service from the many other vrbos we have used: We do not like using 3rd party property managers as the experience seems distant and remote. There was no email or text saying that the rental was clean and available for check in prior to 4pm, but we got two emails asking us to notify them if we left before 10. You can't have it both ways. There was no follow up to our call regarding the lack of keurig coffee maker, despite the vacasa rep saying they would. You should delete the coffee maker from your amenities. The check in process was a bit clunky- Why the need for a 10 digit passcode on a super sensitive keypad? We were fine with a frig that did not have filtered water or ice, but please supply ice bin and more than one ice cube tray. Lastly, the small cushions in bedroom and chair in livingroom really need a steam cleaning.

Great Potential

Quaint home that is tastefully decorated. The owners did an amazing job updating the home. There are several places to relax throughout the property from playing games at the kitchen table to sitting around the fire pit in the well manicured backyard and enjoying lunch or dinner on the covered back deck. The size and layout of the home make it a perfect rental for a small family or a couple. The cleanliness of the home was lacking and is in desperate need of rodent and cockroach control. Upon arrival we found trolley tour stickers on the bathroom wall and hair in the shower from previous guests. Dishes in the cabinets were put away dirty and all had to be cleaned prior to our first use. There was a sticky substance on the stairs leading up to the loft that we learned was from mouse traps. This substance was all over the carpeting in the loft and got on our children’s skin causing irritation. We had to kill several large cockroaches during our stay, but the most concerning was the live mouse caught in a trap under the living room cabinet that my husband had to remove from the house. The home is conveniently located within walking distance of several main attractions in St Augustine. Our family walked to restaurants, parks and attractions such as the old jail and the fountain of youth. Some of the homes on the street are under construction and it appears that this neighborhood is up and coming, but at the moment it is a work in progress. There are homeless people living at the closed down Dairy Queen at one end of the street and they walk past the rental every day on their way to McDonald’s at the opposite end of the street. Be cautious with children as cars do Exceed the speed limit on this street and there is more traffic than one would expect on a side street. Parking was challenging. Each home is allotted two parking spaces which, if everyone follows direction, leaves plenty of room. But, the renters in the home next door parked in front of our home every day leaving us no place to park the one vehicle we were driving. Overall, the home is cozy, has all the amenities needed and is within walking distance of the majority of must see attractions. Children will love this home! Cleanliness, rodent control and parking issues with neighbor aside, this home deserves five stars. We would be happy to rent again if those Improvements were made.

Bernard Street Bungalow

Boy, did we pick a good one! This lovely bungalow was decorated perfectly, exceptionally clean and it had everything you could want or need including a firepit in a beautiful outdoor setting. We appreciated the book of instructions and information created by the owners. The unit is very near the hop-on-hop-off tram and within minutes of gorgeous St. Augustine beaches. We highly recommend the Bernard Street Bungalow. We defintely will be back soon!
