About this property
Lake View at Vanishing Point!
Come and relax with a warm cup of coffee while you sit and overlook Lake Michigan 15 feet above it! Even the locals agree that this home has the best/closest shoreline lake view on the entire island!
Located just 12 minutes from town, you’re far enough away to feel like you’re on an island but close enough to get what you need.
The east side of the island, facing Lake Michigan has been a target of erosion for several years. We lost 150 feet of grassy and sandy beach over the past few years and nearly lost the home. While completely safe and inspected, you will see where erosion hasn't been kind up and down the coast.
We have chosen to let nature take root in the sand, providing an unkept natural look, in hopes that the wind erosion will cease, and our beautiful shoreline will return to it's glory.
There is a rocky wall that helped keep the rising lake water away from a few years ago. And as the lake has gone down, we've now gained 45 feet of beach that we did not have in 2020.
There are handmade stairs that you can walk down to get to the beach.
We ask that you keep dogs and children off any steep slopes to prevent any further wear on our delicate shoreline.
One walk down these steep slopes is equivalent to 6 months of erosion so please be kind to these naturally forming "dunes."
You may use any unlocked closet inside the home. We would ask that you not use the foyer closet, just inside the door. We store paint, work boots, and sometimes, cleaning supplies in there but we do not lock it. Please be mindful of what's in there.
Just a few areas are off limits.
The laundry room (we can no longer permit the use of our washer/dryer because of the amount of sand that goes through them. We’ve already had to replace two washing machines and sometimes, it takes 4-5 months to get one here.
There are laundry facilities on the island.
On occasion, or emergency, we can sometimes arrange for the laundry to be used.
The garage is for the owners storage, the apartment above it is private, the two sheds at the top of the hill are also a private areas.
Thank you
