About this property

The Sweet Retreat on Clark Lake

The Sweet Retreat was built by Wisconsin Log Homes in 2006, and was featured in Log Home Design, a leading publication in the log home building industry.

The cabin is situated on the “quiet side” of Door County, on Clark Lake. We are a short walk to both Whitefish Dunes State Park and scenic Cave Point County Park. Lots of great hiking and exploring to be done at these sites.

Clark Lake is a warm, shallow, 875-acre lake with a soft silt-bottom, and a public beach on the South side. The lake is amenable to all paddle craft and small motor craft. And our dock is perfect for viewing those iconic Door County sunsets!

The open design of the cabin makes it perfect for gathering. The large kitchen table is perfect for meals and family game night. The great room is a warm and welcoming space to sit, relax and spend time together. The living space flows seamlessly to the outside onto a massive deck. The back yard is spacious for playing and relaxing. You can enjoy your meals prepared on a 48” LP grill. Then enjoy the large stone fire pit surrounded by one-of-a-kind teak benches, perfect for memorable nights by the fire. Back inside, the cabin loft area has a Connelly pool table, a pub table, and a bar and beverage refrigerator for your enjoyment.

We welcome you to the Sweet Retreat, and hope you enjoy your stay on Clark Lake as much as we do!

Beautiful property, awesome location
The home was stunning and we loved staying on Clark Lake — just a short drive (or moderate walk) to Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point County Park. This area is a little farther from some of the more popular tourist destinations on the peninsula but well worth it for the peace and quiet. Overall the house was clean with plenty of space for our two kids, two parents, and two grandparents. The outside spaces were delightful, just what we were looking for to enjoy the natural beauty of the area. We did have a couple of plumbing issues during the stay, but the property manager handled the issues professionally and promptly. The only other “issue” we had was that some of decorations in the home were a bit intense/frightening for our highly sensitive young children. But that’s more of a personal preference thing, I suppose. Overall this was a beautiful property in an awesome location and we would definitely stay here again.

Luxurious cabin
Rustic yet luxurious cabin built and maintained with high end fittings and finishes throughout. Perfect for a mid size group. We were 3 families with kids and this worked perfectly for us. What struck me particularly was how clean and well maintained the exterior was as well - no spider webs and dust on the outside furniture despite it being a wooded area, so we knew the cleaning crew did well.

Girls weekend
Great place! Fit all eight of us perfectly!!! Could use more than one TV and instructions how to use the TV. Couldn’t figure out the 4 remotes. Other than that small inconvenience it was nice. I would go back

Log cabin in door county
The property is lovely. Great location to many things to do in Door County. Lots of room for many people to stay. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils and appliances The tv was very difficult to use. They had many receivers hooked up to the tv for different things. We couldn’t even get local viewing. Had to call for assistance the evening we checked on. Help wasn’t available till Monday morning. Once we reached them, they were quick to help. Be aware the agreement states only limited toilet paper, paper towels, and trash bags. We had to purchase and bring more of these items with us. The check out procedure is very stressing. You must have all towels and kitchen linens washed and in the dryer before your 10am check out time. Laundry soap is not provided so be sure to bring your own!!! The dishwasher must also be emptied and dishes put away before check out! Did I mention you also need to pay a $300 cleaning fee! This all seemed a little out too much to ask! What’s our cleaning fee for? I get starting the dishes and laundry before leaving but we get like they asked too much! The trash and recycle cans were filled to over flowing on arrival. We had to ask for someone to come collect trash. Even when they came to pick up the trash, they did not empty the cans. They just took a few bags out of each can Lovely place but too many flaws for to stay again unless some things change!
