Recently renovated, Thimbleberry Castle House provides a unique space for family and group gatherings. Situated within an easy walk to great trails , this secluded location offers walks along the Lake Michigan beach and on wooded paths. The lakefront is definitely beautiful and no doubt better for viewing than swimming on the rocky beach. There are two sandy beaches within two miles of our property - in Baileys Harbor and in Jacksonport -and there are others spread throughout the county. Pets ok.

This house was even better than expected! It was perfect for our multi family trip, a nice location for doing things around town, super clean and well stocked with essentials, and just beautiful! Our kids also loved it because it looked like a castle!

We loved this house! Beautiful home and lots of space for our family. Very quiet location. We enjoyed the fire pit, listening to the Lake Michigan waves, hanging out in the huge kitchen and great room, and the kids loved the sauna and secret room! Lots of towels, very comfortable beds, and plenty of cookware, dinnerware, and flatware. We would definitely stay again!

It was beautiful, clean, and we had a great stay.My biggest suggestion is to improve the listing with a floor plan and labeled bedroom photos. It wasn't until we arrived that we realized the gallery showed multiple photos of the same bedroom from different angles instead of clearly identifying each room. At this price point (around 2,000/night), guests should be able to understand the layout before they book.The room differences are significant. Two king bedrooms have incredible private en-suite bathrooms with steam showers, clawfoot tubs, walk-in closets, and multiple sinks. The third king bedroom is much smaller and shares one small upstairs bathroom with four other bedrooms. Since three families all paid for king bedrooms, knowing that ahead of time would have made it much easier to assign rooms and split costs before the trip instead of figuring it out after everyone arrived.One pleasant surprise: the house also has a beautiful sauna that wasn't listed as an amenity or shown in any photos. We loved it, and it's absolutely worth advertising.

The Castle House was fantastic for our 16 person group! There was plenty of space for everyone to gather both inside and outside. The proximity to the lake was amazing! Perfect home for a large group

With ample bedrooms, bathrooms, eating and gathering areas, this home was perfect for our family of 16. The outdoor space was nice also, with a lovely view of the lake. It is close to beaches and the neighboring towns. We took advantage of kayaking and pontoon rentals in the area. We could also fish and swim from the rocky beach behind the house. I highly recommend it, and we would rent it again if we were in the area.

Beautiful Stay for Family Reunion

This property was an absolute treasure for our family reunion trip. There was something for everyone from baby to senior with accessibility needs. The amenities were second to none and we appreciated the nice touches like coffee filters, a fresh sponge, nice soaps, etc. So much space for all us to enjoy and retreat to if we needed a break from the crowd. Very clean! A great central location on the peninsula!

It's Called The Castle For a Reason

Can't say enough about this place. We enjoyed staying here. We did spend a lot of time at the touristy towns on the Bay side but enjoyed being on the lake side for seclusion and traffic reasons. Bay side is only 15 mins away.

Castle House is great

Had a bunch of old friends get together for a fall weekend of golf and Packers game. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. Very comfortable house for a large group, very clean and perfect location which was close to everything yet private. Host made check in a breeze. Definitely would recommend and would stay again.

We truly enjoyed our stay at the castle! We have been vacationing in Door County for many years. We loved the location of the property, close to towns and other activities. The kitchen area was a great size along with seating for ten! We loved the fireplace and being able to look out over Lake Michigan. We enjoyed the atmosphere of the castle. The kitchen was graciously stocked with dishes and utensils. Location to all that Door county has to offer was great. It was fun looking for the pool table, the sauna was nice. Fire pit area was very nice and the pancake mix was a special surprise. It easily accommodated our family. Very roomy. There was a perfect number of bedrooms and bathrooms for our large family. Loved the kitchen area and eating space. Landscaping and grounds need to be tidied up though. Please provide firewood for future guests.

Dear Carole: Thank you for your visit and for taking the time to review our home. Because our location is right on Lake Michigan, we have opted for a more naturalistic style of landscaping. As you may have noticed, the groundcover is mostly thimbleberries. Because we avoid using chemicals on the property, our guests are welcome to pick the berries and bake with them or make jam.( We use no harmful chemicals in our indoor cleaning products either!) As far as the firewood, I appreciate your thoughts. We have left firewood for others, but some guests didn’t use it, so we thought a gift certificate from the local organic farm might be more generally useful for the big groups that visit. I will be happy to leave a list of the local places that sell firewood. ( They’re everywhere!) I’m so happy to hear your cooking and dining experiences there were wonderful. That’s one of the best parts of gathering with friends and family! Thanks again!

Property was castle-like. Everything was top notch. Extremely well stocked. Room for all 15 of us! Pool table was great fun. Beautiful surroundings, very private and secluded. No beach but on the rocky shore of Lake Michigan. Be aware this is not a lake house. You will need to drive to a beach or state park for beach or bike riding.

Beautiful home right on Lake Michigan

We had the perfect weekend in this very lovely, comfortable and roomy home that accommodated our group of various ages. Great kitchen with plenty of dining space. Nice array of bedrooms and baths. Various cozy rooms for people to gather . The sauna was most enjoyable addition . Beautiful setting on shore of Lake Michigan with a yard that all enjoyed. Door County getaway

The Castle was an absolutely gorgeous place! It is so spacious and had everything we needed for our stay. There were 9 of us total and the Castle gave us all plenty of personnel space and shared space! Being right on Lake Michigan made for gorgeous sunrises and some fun exploring-the shoreline is very rocky which can be hard to navigate if you have mobility issues. Location is just a short drive to explore all that Door County offers! We will definitely be back to Door County and will book the Castle again!

Amazing Castle in Door County

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Castle House in Bailey's Harbor. The house is gorgeous and was perfect for our large extended family. The kitchen is huge and well appointed. Plenty of space for family dinners and hanging out. The bedrooms, beds and bathrooms were clean and comfortable. We loved that the house was located on the lake, but was secluded yet close to all activities in Door County. The night sky was very dark and clear. We enjoyed exploring the rocky beach and walking on the hiking trail nearby. Check in was easy and owner is very responsive. Highly recommend the Castle House!
