To clarify for future guests: the smoke detector in question was not expired, as it was still within its 10-year manufacturer warranty. The chirping noise was due to a faulty unit, not a fire alarm going off. I replaced the battery the following morning, but when the issue persisted, it was confirmed to be a defective detector, which was then replaced promptly by the manufacturer under warranty. Please rest assured that safety was never compromised during your stay. All other smoke detectors in the property were fully functional and the alarm itself was never sounding — only the low-battery chirping on that one unit. The situation has now been completely resolved and all detectors are working properly. My wife (co-host) and I live locally and personally manage and maintain the property. While I didn’t receive a message through the VRBO app that night — which is the recommended communication channel — I did respond to your text first thing in the morning, and we addressed the issue ourselves as quickly as possible. I also appreciate your comments about the cleanliness, kitchen setup, and the smoke- and pet-free environment — we’re glad those aspects worked well for your family. We’ve since replaced the cookware you mentioned, and I appreciate you bringing that to our attention. While this was an isolated issue, we take all guest concerns seriously and remain committed to providing a safe, clean, and responsive experience for everyone who stays with us.
