It's was a wonderful stay. The stairs were just steeper than I thought. They only have one railing another railing on the other side would be very helpful. It's right by the lake, so it was a very enjoyable day!

Our stay here was perfect. Clean, cozy & in a great neighborhood. We loved that it's within walking distance to parks, Lake Ontario, & restaurants for interesting sightseeing & meals after a long day of fishing.

The property is perfect for those using the Lake. Very good spot for fishermen.
Check in was great, the owner contacted me ahead of time with the information needed to access the property. The house was spotless and the fridge was stocked with water. Great experience, will be returning.
I had everything I needed and place was clean. It is an older home with kind of stairs that I don't care for, good communication with owner all in all a pleasant stay.
This location is perfect for sunset gazing, biking or walking to thr nearby park(s). We were impressed with thr area and how bicycle user friendly the entire place is! The house is old and well used but as clean as a cottage typically is. Bare necessities in the cupboards and basic furniture. We thought it was just fine for a lake stay in a fantastic area.
Property was nice, located well. Very clean. But the beds weren't comfortable, the toilet was way too small for 60 year old plus people. And the Staircase was a challenge. Younger people and children this location would be perfect for. But old and slightly handicapped , this is not for you.
Our stay was great, Once we found where we were staying. I had no written directions or an accurate address to put in my map on the phone. Ended up calling OnStar from my truck and they got in touch with Vrbo, and got me the owner of the property and she gave me directions. Once I got there everything was good.

Decrepit, warped addition to an old home
Simple, bare basics, and acceptable living conditions. Good value for the price. I couldn't help but feel I was about to fall through the bathroom floor (literally cracks in the floor around the toilet) and I wondered if the electrical wiring was up to code (broken lamps, fluttering light fixtures, etc.). Overall, for a spot next to Lake Ontario, I was surprised at the price and the availability, but now I know why.

Tam, I am very sorry you felt that way. It is an old home for sure, but we would not have been given a rental permit if it were not up to code. I do try to make it as comfortable as possible so any feedback is appreciated. I will replace the broken lamp today. If you could relate which light fixtures were fluttering, that would be helpful so we can address it also. The bathroom floor joist has been reinforced for safety but I’ll still have my contractor make sure it’s up to snuff.
While the place was an older home and the stairs were a bit tricky to navigate, I was very happy with the location so close to the water and all downtown shops and restaurants. I had a couple small suggestions to help the ease of future renters: night lights at the bottom of stairs in living room and in bathroom as bedrooms are upstairs and bathroom down. Also a couple towel racks in bathroom would have been a nice addition. And kitchen wasn't as well stocked with cook and dinnerware as I imagined it would be but for 1 person it was fine. But otherwise, I would definitely rent the place again during another trip to Oswego!
My partner and I enjoyed a relaxing weekend at the Navy House. The rental is the back portion of a larger old house. It is in decent shape, but has some quirks such as uneven floors. I wouldn't call it a luxury unit, but the basics are there - it is a clean and comfortable place to stay. The shower is wonderful - it has great water pressure and the towels are very high quality. The A/C includes window units in the upstairs bedrooms. The living room and kitchen were a bit warmer with no A/C, but a fan in the living room helped. A definite highlight of this unit is it's proximity to Lake Ontario and the beautiful park along the waterfront. Christine was easy to deal with. We were able to check ourselves in and out with no problem.
My family and I stayed here for 2 weeks for Christmas. I am from Oswego and usually stay with my parents but we wanted our own space to work from so we could stay longer.
First, I missed in the listing where it is a unit, not an entire house. It is the back part of a house. It wasn't a problem for us, but the people in the other side of the house could be loud (I'm sure they could hear us too). My kids are 7 and 9 so we didn't need it particularly quiet but wanted to mention it for others that may have smaller kids.
Second, the listing pics do not show a TV, but there was one a Roku TV in the living room with Netflix ,Hulu, etc.
Third, we worked from the apartment and the internet was sufficient. We did not have issues with the internet. There is a dining room table you can work from but I borrowed a folding table from my parents so we had more desk space.
Fourth, water pressure in the shower was great. Very hot water. Be careful if you have kids, the water can definitely scald you.
Fifth, location is awesome. I recommend this location for the summer/harborfest. Walking distance to downtown, breitbeck, and Franklin square. You can see the lake from the front yard. Quiet neighborhood.
Sixth, property manager was very communicative and responsive but we never interacted in person (which is my preference personally).
Seventh, we had everything we needed to stay. All the pots, pans, dishes, soap, toilet paper, paper towels, bath towels ,etc. It was fully equipped. There was even cooking oil and spices. There is no dishwasher or washer or dryer (but there are a few laundry baskets so you can transport laundry).
Eighth, the place was very clean, but it is definitely old. It was completely sufficient for what we needed but not fancy. As others have mentioned the floors are very uneven. The stairs are kind of steep. My kids didn't have an issue but if they were smaller it would have been more difficult. My husband fell on the stairs several times (he is fine).
Overall we had a great stay and would stay again.
