Great house for a family getaway. We stayed here with my wife, my brother and sister-in-law, and our three kids, and we’d absolutely love to come back next year. The location is hard to beat—close to everything on Shelter Island. The house itself is modern, comfortable, and full of great film books and decor that gave it a lot of personality.During our stay, a storm knocked down a power line into the yard. It could have been stressful, but the caretaker, Kim, handled everything seamlessly. She coordinated with the power company/electrician, kept us informed, and made the whole situation easy for us. She even stopped by with a delicious apple pie and fresh blackberries from a local farm stand, which was such a thoughtful touch. We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend this home to anyone visiting Shelter Island.
We had a delightful time staying in this house. it had everything we needed for preparing meals, playing games, relaxing, going to the beach, and riding bikes around the island. There were plenty of towels for the beach, as well as an umbrella and chairs. The patio had a barbecue that worked well. The house was immaculate and beautifully appointed. The owners were extremely generous in letting us use all their possessions . There were great books on the shelves and the art work was extremely tasteful. Kim, who manages the property was great. She was extremely helpful without being intrusive and very responsive when we had a minor issue with a bathtub drain. We had a wonderful time, enjoying this beautiful island. The location is easily accessible to all the beaches and restaurants, super market and Shelter Island Heights. We loved watching the wild life-turkeys, birds, butterflies and the roosters, pigs and sheep across the street. I can't recommend it highly enough. The only caveat I would have is if you like super firm mattresses, you might want to bring something as the mattresses, while very comfortable are foam.
