Wonderful place very peaceful and private. A perfect hideaway! Just be aware there are 1-2 steps between some of the rooms. The loft stairs are quite steep!
Enjoyed our stay. Perfect house for my husband and I. Beautiful views. Hot tub was perfect after a long day on the slopes.

Lovely location but best for a couple
The location and property grounds were fantastic and the guest house charming, but the accommodation's description was misleading in regard to the bedroom locations (bedroom number two is not similar to bedroom number one but is in fact twin beds in the loft). Property is in need of maintenance and cleaning.
So close to Salida, but you feel miles away. The pond and river and surroundings are very peaceful. The house is very comfortable and the bookshelf has a wonderful mix of books. We also enjoyed the hot tub.
The cabin is perfect for a quiet weekend away. Its easy to get in and out of Salida and has great access to the beautiful outdoor spaces of the Southern Sawatch range. It is very clean and everything was easy to find and operate.
A beautiful guest house in a stunning location surrounded by Colorado fourteeners! Quiet, cozy, just a wonderful getaway. This was our second visit but will not be our last!
Perfectly sited cabin for jumping off for fabulous spring hikes. The cabin is quiet, private and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Chip fixed the water heater immediately when the pilot light decided to extinguish itself and it was great to chat with him. Would stay again for sure!
Very nice cabin style house on a beautiful piece of property. Nice mountain view with a pond and a stream you can access. Country setting while still being close to town an area activities.
Host are very courteous and attentive.
We loved the cabin and the pond and river. Love the style of the cabin. Wonderfully decorated and all the books! We celebrated our birthdays and enjoyed the hot tub.
Might be time to clean the windows, other than that it’s perfect.
Great location. We skied Monarch during our stay and was thrilled to be so close. The property itself is beautiful. The cabin was adorable and cozy. I don’t know that I’d consider it to sleep 6 however. There was plenty of bedding and cushions we were able to use to make a makeshift bed, so it ended up working out ok. The hot tub was AMAZING and we enjoyed our stay very much.
We loved staying here. Chip (and Matilda the dog) was so friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed the pond and zipline (even though I fell in haha). The cabin was cozy and had all the supplies/amenities that we needed. The hot tub was perfect. The views of Shavano were breathtaking. We enjoyed hiking in Buena Vista and eating delicious meals in Salida. We took a mountain drive (4x4) up CR 221 and also Monarch Pass. I will definitely be back! So much to see and do in the area. Thank you for an amazing place to stay and enjoy an underrated part of our beautiful state.

My husband had a wonderful time visiting with Chip and my dogs enjoyed the neighbor dogs. The place is beautiful, but I grew up there so that was no surprise. It was a bit hard to feel “secluded” when the pond they show online is really in their front yard- which we didn’t know when we booked and had hoped for a family bbq- which Margaret said no to- which given it was not that many people spread over 5 hours I think it would have been fine, but the owner seemed to think it was too many- and given the misrepresentation of how close in proximity they live, I understand why she denied our request for company. That being said - she was gone the entire stay and we enjoyed the quiet beautiful setting.
Cabin was as described and owner very friendly when we saw him although very disappointed with the cleanliness of it especially with the times. Our trip to as cut short because the second night we discovered a mouse on the counter eating through a bag of chips we had on kitchen counter. We started flipping on the lights and discovered lots more in a matter of minutes. One was inside the nightstand under the loft stairs. Mouse droppings all over the kitchen counter when we used our Lysol wipes we brought and took a swipe back there. Mouse droppings on the kitchen table in the separate room also. Owner was very responsive and helped us with a partial refund for our stay since we only stayed 1 of the 4 nights we booked. Disappointed that we drove 3.5 hours to get there, used our vacation time and then drove home early and had nothing else planned all because preventative measures like mouse traps were not set out. I understand it’s the country and you have to be flexible but if we see several mice in a few minutes, you know there are lots more. Not the relaxing vacation I hoped for. When we arrived home, there were holes in all the food bags we had sitting outside and everything had to be tossed.
The cabin is set in a beautiful meadow and close to Salida. All good there. Unfortunately, the cabin has a water pump situated underneath it which emits a low, pulsating hum. The noise disturbed our sleep for 3 nights and the landlord response was late and the lack of our sleep was treated with no real concern. There was no shower soap. Delivered later in the day. We had to cut our vacation short by one day due to our exhaustion, and on check out we did as asked: take out the trash, strip the bed, start a load of laundry. No laundry soap. Sent a request for one night's stay, was promised a check in the mail. No check after two weeks.
We had a great stay. The location is beautiful and the cabin is very well stocked with kitchen/cooking utensils and extra bedding/blankets. The hot tub worked well and was very clean. Also, the wifi works great. The property is centrally located and makes a great place to basecamp your Arkansas Headwaters adventures.
