About this property

Kid-friendly Michiana cottage! Summer dates open - including 4th of July!

Plan your stay at our new home, a great 3 bedroom, 2-bath cottage in Michiana. Set in a secluded area between New Buffalo and Michigan City, this house is close to all the region has to offer including restaurants, beaches, Indiana Dunes National Park, beer and wine tasting, and lots of kid-friendly activities. Home is clean and modern (constructed in 2022), is still comfortable and kid friendly.

This cottage has an open layout with all bedrooms and baths on one-level. The Master Bedroom is en-suite with a King Bed and walk-in shower, and opens into a large screened porch. The other two bedrooms have Queen Beds and share a bathroom with a bathtub/shower combo. Kitchen, Dining, and Living Room are all open concept, with lots of seating options. There is also a back patio with grill and fire pit, as well as open yard space, so plenty of options to enjoy the outdoors!

The cottage is about 1 from Lake Michigan, which is great for a nice stroll through the wooded area, often spotting deer and other animals. There is beach access available about 1 mile walking (10-15 mins walk), and we provide beach gear and a wagon to help haul any gear. We are also walking distance to two parks that offer playgrounds and tennis/pickleball courts. The cottage is about equal distance between Michigan City and New Buffalo, but on the Indiana side of the state line (central time zone).

If you are planning a multi-family trip, this house is next door to Property #2087945 which is a very similar new cottage so great for two families to be together but still have a bit of privacy!

We really liked the space and location to other family who live in the area. It was clean, which I appreciate; the kitchen was larger than the pictures suggested, and the island was large. It was a little pricy, but everything in this area is these days, especially during the summer months. The vanity in the Primary bedroom is showing some wear and tear. I found that the towels provided were not typical and not enough (when we arrived, there were 2 bath towels, 2 face cloths, and 1 hand towel on each bed; there were no extra towels in the home). I had to wash towels daily. The kitchen was appointed okay, but we did not cook there. A dish drain would be nice to have to hand wash just a few things. Some extra kitchen towels would be great too. There is a washer and dryer that were great. There are beach items to use, but we were with family and did not utilize them. Nice, quiet area; there are a couple of commuter trains that pass by most days, but they go so fast you barely notice. It was a great find overall. We were all happy.

Myself and two friends were coming up for a weekend of exploring and riding in the Apple Cider Century. This was the perfect home base for our activities! We enjoyed this lovely house and the neighborhood. Pleasant walks and a park near by. We did use the New Buffalo public beach to swim, but walked to the closer beach just to enjoy the neighborhood and water view. The house had everything we needed.

I grew up in Michigan City, and my family runs a building company in the area, so there is a lot of love and family effort that went into every stage of building this home. We are parents to twin girls, who are three years old. We stay at this house when we visit, and can confirm that it is a great space for families!

Why they chose this property

This property offers a great convenient location - an easy drive to attractions in both Michigan City and New Buffalo. The house is brand new, and has a serene interior. And we love the retreat feel of being in a wooded neighborhood where you can go on nice walks, by the beach or through the forest.
