The space THE MEYER LANSKY SUITE TWO DOUBLE BEDS IT IS A SOUTHERN NEW JERSEY HISTORICAL LANDMARK. IT IS A VICTORIAN MANSION BUILT IN 1884. IT WAS A BORDELLO DURING THE LATE 1800S, AND THEN BECAME A HANGOUT FOR NUCKY JOHNSON (FOR WHOM THE SHOW "BOARDWALK EMPIRE" ON HBO WAS BASED ON) - DURING THE PROHIBITION DAYS.
"So this place was a brothel in the 1800's and where mobsters would hide massive quantities of alcohol during the days of prohibition. A gangster was whacked in the basement after messing up on an order, and a young wife hung herself in room 7 after catching her cheating husband with a whore. Also, there's a ghost in the attic and he locks the door behind me from time to time." - Sam Trocki, proprietor of Tavern on the Bay (B&B/ steakhouse). Such a soulful joint with risidual traces of secrecy lingering in the air. You can feel it. These old walls have a story to tell.... In the meantime, present time... Sitting on the rooftop in this charming, but grande, inviting, yet mysterious abode asking the mermaid to direct me with her compass. Maybe I'll stay a night or two and get myself a tasty ribeye and a whiskey on the rocks, while listening to the old sailors docked in the marina exchanging stories of life in the open sea." - Anoynomous

Not at all what we expected. The floors in the hotel and our room were dirty. There was no housekeeping for our 5 night stay. Had to go downstairs to request towels. On one occasion the manager was reprimanding an employee right in the entryway. I had to interrupt this just to ask for towels.

Disappointed
The place wasn’t very clean on arrival. The place said no pets or kids yet there was both. It rained and patio area flooded not able to use. Ants in room, window ac had gaps to bugs were getting in. Windows had no screens couldn’t enjoy the fresh air. No where in listing did it say room had connecting door so could hear everything going on next door. Bed was comfortable but bedspreads were dirty. There is no way that the room was “COVID” clean. Toilet dirty on arrival, an inch of dust, not a new roll of toilet paper, used soap, and water left in coffee maker which looked moldy

We’re sorry you were disappointed with your stay. We’re not sure why you thought we didn’t allow pets, the listing clearly states we charge a pet fee. And kids under 21 are not allowed to book rooms here but they can stay with their parents. It’s disappointing you were not able to enjoy the outdoor deck but please understand we can’t control the weather. All our rooms are thoroughly disinfected before each guest arrives. Your claims are exaggerated, especially since you never complained once to the hotel manager during your entire 3-night stay here. The manager even provided you with his cell phone number if you had any issues or needed anything at all and you never contacted him.
Manager and restaurant staff were awesome. Room was a bit run down, bed n a/c could use an update but fully adequate.. rooms nearby could have been noisy.. but we got lucky. All told.. good value, great spot, nice views. cozy.
Comfortable beds and bedding. Super friendly staff. Restaurant over looking the bay. Watched the sunrise on the bay this morning. I hesitate to praise as much as they probably deserve because I’m afraid I’ll not be able to book here again, it’ll always be full! This isn’t perfection. But it’s comfortable and friendly and really beautiful
