Welcome to the Al Capone Suite at the historic Tavern on the Bay Resort! We are located in Somers Point, NJ - the oldest settlement in Atlantic County. We have a bar and restaurant downstairs and plenty of parking for your car or boat. Enjoy breathtaking views of the bay from our 3rd floor deck and soak up the sun at the Somers Point Beach located next door. Check-in starts at 4pm and goes until 10pm. Check-out is at 11am.

Overall the stay was alright. Positives were the room was a decent size for an old house, towels and sheets were soft, liked the exterior balconies for the view, being right on the bay/ next to the beach, and some good restaurants within walking distance. The owner was kind and the bartender we had was kind as well. The space was clean and check-out was easy. Things to be aware of/could improve: The check-in process was a little clunky (no one waiting when we got there, slow, got given the keys to the wrong room & had to switch, etc.), and it's an old house so the 3rd floor where our room was was a little warm (we stayed early July. To be fair, I think they were installing more AC window units in the halls when we left). Additionally, with it being an old house, there's not much for soundproofing so if others are in the hall, you'll hear it. (or someone smoking on the patio, if it's outside your room, you'll smell it). There are 8 suites available (4 on the 2nd floor, and 4 on the 3rd floor), and half of them have windows that face the east (which is facing the bay); facing the bay is great, but they only have plastic blinds (not curtains) - which means the sun comes in fairly bright at sunrise, so if you're not a morning person, just be aware. So yes - not a bad stay, just not quite as relaxing as we were hoping. One or two of these things wouldn't be a deal breaker, but since there were 4-5, it just made things feel a bit off.

We enjoyed a brief stay and lucked out with some music at the adjacent small beach enjoyed from our deck outside on the 3rd floor.

My getaway

Room was just as pictured, clean and affordable. Staff was great and accommodating. The food was delicious from the restaurant. Definitely will come back. I booked this room on short notice and was not disappointed. Thank you!

Welcome to the Lucky Luciano Suite! Located on the 2nd floor, this charming room features a luxurious queen-size bed. Other amenities include a mini-fridge, a coffee maker with K-cups provided and a flat-screen TV with DIRECTV.

Tavern On The Bay Resort is a New Jersey historical landmark. The Victorian-style mansion was originally built in 1884. It was a bordello during the late 1800s and then became a hangout for the infamous Nucky Johnson (for whom the show "Boardwalk Empire" on HBO was based on) during the prohibition days.

There is a bar and restaurant on the first floor of the hotel, open daily for dinner and late-nite drinks. Our third floor deck is open to all hotel guests and you're welcome to bring food and drinks upstairs to enjoy the view! We also have the lovely Somers Point Beach located next door.

There is a ghost in the attic but he is friendly! Legend says you can sometimes hear the faint sound of footsteps at night. The rooms are 100% ghost-free.
