The cabin was great, and just what we needed. However, I was unaware that there was a smaller cabin just a few feet from our cabin that was also available to rent.
We picked this cabin to "get away" and instead had to deal with a rather large group of men just a few feet from the front of our cabin the whole weekend. That was very disappointing for the price we paid for our cabin. Other than that, we were happy.

We greatly apologize for the disruption on your stay. The extra cabin which faces away from the main house was rented at the last minute to some men "getting away " for the weekend and was unaware it was a bachelor party. We asked if you needed anything , if you had made us aware of the situation we would have indeed calmed them down. When you requested an additional day we reduced the price as well as not charge the additional people you said you had.
For you troubles we'd like to offer you a weekend during the fall free of charge. Please let us know the dates with a little advanced notice when you'd like to come. Again, our sincere apoligies because our goal is for our guests to leave with complete satisfaction with their stay,
Not sure how this property has so many great reviews. My Girl Scouts chose this house for a final trip before graduation. First, the positive--it does have a fantastic location and the view is amazing. But beyond that, there were several problems with the property and the owner. The property is very old. The deck felt like it was in danger of collapsing. Everything in the house is extremely cheap and old. The kitchen, which many reviews touted, is very low on decent pans, cups, plates, and silverware. If you are staying with 18 people, do not expect to have enough cooking things for those people. Also, 2 of the "beds" are basically window benches with very thin cushions. These would only be good for kids. There were many games in the living room, but not a single one had all the pieces needed to play the game. When I complained to the owner that there were no working can openers, she told me she had just bought 3 brand new ones. One of these brand new can openers had wooden handles and looked like it was 20 years old. One of the girls in my troop started to have some bites on the 3rd day we were there. A friend who is a bed bug expert told me they didn't look like bed bugs and we found no bugs in the bed, so we left it at that, moving the girl out of the bed for the last night. After we got home, we got a note from the owner, riddled with inconsistencies, telling us we had brought in bed bugs and owed $2000. (She said the bed bugs were in the curtains, which explained why we saw no bugs. We are not pest experts.). When I explained that we had been a victim of the bed bugs, not the person who brought them in, she insisted that it was no problem, to just say it was us so that our trip insurance (which we do not have) would pay for her treatment. I sent proof to VRBO of what happened. VRBO has sent her a note to stop asking us for money, but again she has added on a $1,100 bill. VRBO says I don't have to pay this, since it is fraudulent, but she continues to maintain that I have to pay it. I believe she is trying to get someone else to pay to maintain her property. The Buffalo River is a beautiful place. It is hard not to fall in love with the area, but this house is a risk you should not take. You will be at your "wit's end" after your stay.

You are correct VRBO does have your information, as well as mine and has sent you your damages directly to pay since you did not purchase coverage. They help with booking and fortunately with the continued services we were able to see you were the guest to bring the bedbugs and when VRBO contacted you, you replied the person that brought them was a “bedbug expert” and what was on their luggage was not bedbugs, when in fact we immediately had our exterminator out to remedy your problem. You are responsible for that as well as the poor family whose vacation we had to cancel due to that. Sadly you have chose to take a different route by slandering myself and my rental. I’ll take this in consideration as well in compensation instead of just the remedy and rental loss. Well wishes.
It was so amazing and peaceful!! And the view was amazing and only a couple minutes from the river!! Our crew loved it and all had a fantastic weekend!
We had a great time and loved hanging out at this special beautiful cabin. Trish was amazing and very accommodating.
The views are exceptional. We felt extremely safe in the historical well-built log cabin during the tornado warning. This place has everything you need. Perfect location for floating.

It was another fabulous women's weekend at Wits End Ranch. Can't wait for next year.
We booked this cabin for a 3-day float trip. There was a severe storm two nights before our trip, causing the Buffalo River to flood. Due to this, we spent most of our time hanging out at the cabin. We were very comfortable in this rental. Although we had 11 people in our group, we never felt crowded. This place is huge! It wasn't fancy, but it was very comfortable. The views from the back deck are amazing. The cabin was clean, and communication was excellent with our host. There were several good places to eat nearby. We plan on staying here again.
The back deck was amazing to watch the world wake up with a cup of coffee. Lots to do in the area of you enjoy hiking, floating, just being in nature. Trish was great to communicate with. She even looked up things for us to do with the kids. She just purchased the property so she hasn't had much time to fix things up on the inside. Needed a good clean and floors moped... all our socks were dirty. The back deck had a board that was broken so we had to watch the kids around that. I cannot wait to see what renovations/ decorating she does with this place. The view was breath taking! With some deeper cleaning and updating, we would definitely stay here again!
We just needed a few days away from the chaos of home. We stayed over Christmas. It was lovely. The weather was so nice. We even camped out with the kids one night on the deck. The majority of our time was spent outside. The views from the deck are phenomenal. We had everything we needed. We just holed up in there for four wonderful days with one another and enjoyed the serenity of the entire place.
Perfect for family getaway and beautiful view from the back deck!!
Our family had a wonderful experience at this property! Plenty of room to roam in this sweet, rustic log house. Love the view from the big windows and from the back deck! Everything we needed was here. Great internet service too!!! If you are looking for fancy and plush, this is not it; but if you are looking for serenity, simplicity, and somewhere comfortable to re-connect then you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED! Loved it!!!

The screenshots do not do this place justice. The back wall of windows in the living area had nearly as good of a view as from the deck. The deck was a perfect place to breathe and have morning coffee. My 9-year-old dog instantly turned back into a puppy upon arrival. My 4-year-old loved playing checkers. Also proximity to coursey smoked meat wasn't terrible hehe.
Stay was great! There was a little bit of issue with checking in but the owner was close by and handled it. Only issue was heavy rain one night and the celling by the pantry door leaked and got the counter top and everything that was on it wet. Very large space with lots of beds and room for a large group! The outside are and deck had an awesome view! We did have to walk a ways to take the trash out.
Did not like the fact that there is another small house next door to the main house that had people staying in it, that we were unaware of..a little odd.
Had a great weekend! Beautiful view off back porch!

Poor cleaning and Communication
First night there we found bed bugs in one of the beds. We tried contacting the owners multiple times even leaving messages and they never got back in touch with us. While searching all the other beds for bedbugs I found candy wrappers and other things in the sheets of other beds giving me the impression that things were not properly cleaned.

About the host
Hosted by Trish Bartley
My name is Trish “Grinder” Bartley. Yep you guessed it, Grinders Ferry right down the road from here and connected by way of the National Park to this majestic property. Raised around here and then married a Bartley boy from Conway AR. I’m a mom of two boys and after lots of traveling and living in Breckenridge CO the past five years and being on lockdown for 16 months from COVID, it was time to get my family back to being around family and back to my roots. Thanks for looking and reach out to me if you want me to provide an “all in” deal or let me know what you want to accomplish for some fun and let’s see if we can make it happen for ya!
Why they chose this property
This home is an original 1800’s cabin relocated here. It’s a “family and friends” home to make memories from hiking, floating, riding horses, looking at the deer and bear on the back deck, playing horseshoes, cooking and relaxing. It’s big enough to fit multiple families and friends instead of being in different places and cabins so no “fomo” ha. Let’s bring back reunions and family and friend gathering after a separating 2020!
What makes this property unique
The view and privacy is what is unmatchable. Courseys is right out the drive. Crawbilly’s and Ferguson’s across the highway. Gilbert, Grinders Ferry and Tyler Bend right down the road. When you stay here you have no one one else in your space unless you go out to the road!
