A slice of heaven
This property was everything we expected. It wasnt secluded but being surrounded by trees made it feel that way. It was just a short travel to anywhere we wanted to visit. If we come back this way we will definitely stay at Gast House again.

Stylish Home in Bridgman
Gast House was the perfect home base for our friends weekend in Bridgman! It's a couple minutes' drive into town, and there's a grocery store right down the street. Not far from the beach, either, although we didn't go on this trip because December. Inside is tastefully decorated and cozy. The kitchen is appointed with the basics like cups, plates, and utensils (but if you're preparing a meal I would pack some cooking implements and staples like oil, sugar, etc). You have to go through the loft room upstairs to get to the other two rooms, which we were comfortable with but I can see being awkward for some. Stairs going up are typical for an old house - steep, narrow, and a little creaky. Would probably avoid putting Grandma up there but we managed fine. All in all we had a lovely stay and will definitely be back next time we're visiting our friend!

Great Private Retreat
We passed the property the first time trying to find it, the house is kinda blocked by some trees from street, but figured it out. While there’s neighboring houses there’s space between them and it has a lot of privacy. It’s relatively close to any activity you really want to do. We were able to climb Warren Dunes, do some things in Stevensville, New Buffalo, and St Joes. It was a pretty low key weekend for us and not super warm, but the weather held out enough for us to utilized the fire pit. When the weather was bad we moved it to the fire place. The clawfoot tub was my favorite. It’s probably the deepest tub I’ve been in in years that actually had a hot water tank large enough to fill it. I felt like a little kid. Someone else had mentioned the stairs being steep to the second floor, which is true. It wasn’t a problem for us, but ended up staying on the first floor most the trip anyway. Basement stairs are also a bit steep and they warn you to watch your head on your way up/down… and you should heed that warning. I did really well a couple times and got cocky my last pass up and clocked myself good by standing up too early. The place looks as advertised. Very cute. The longer I looked around the more little decor details I noticed. It’s like staying in a Pier One Imports store. Great stay. Thanks a lot for letting us stay!

Born and raised in Chicago...I'm just a city girl that loves a little country! After visiting SW Michigan 10+ years ago we knew we had to find a away to enjoy it and share it with others. My background in hospitality and events has drawn me to become a host and share my little piece of heaven with you. We so excited to share our favorite restaurants, towns and local activities. We love Bridgman because it is still small and quaint yet close to all the best of Michigan. Go Bridgman Bees!!

When I am not hosting guests I love adventure traveling, interior design, cooking, enjoying new restaurants, photography, antiquing and spending time with family and friends. During COVID my teenage daughters introduced me to TIK TOK cooking, Soundcloud rappers and I am now their personal INSTAGRAM photographer :) I love learning new things!

Why they chose this property

We absolutely fell in love with the land! This little cottage originally lived next door behind my neighbors house. Our neighbors to the south have lived on that land for three generations. The house was moved in the 1950's and was occupied for periods of time. The house was neglected for many years and it called for us to bring it back to life. The mature trees and the wild turkeys in the back yard convinced us this was the place for our family and friends. It took us 4+ years to lovingly modernize it a bit but not strip it of it's original charm. We also fell in love with Bridgman, Michigan. We wanted to come to SW Michigan to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city and we found it in this quiet, quaint little town of Bridgman.

What makes this property unique

Historical cottage. Rural feeling but close to some of the best beaches in SW Michigan. Enjoy your day in town and retreat to the peace and quiet of our backyard fire pit at night. A world's away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
