Avoid this property and host — not just for the apartment's condition, but for deliberate dishonesty.The location is great and we knew this was a no-frills place. Our issue started with an overwhelming smell of air fresheners in both bathrooms, severe enough to cause daily headaches. Once removed, the underlying sewer/pipe smell made the apartment genuinely unpleasant. By day three, my wife developed a severe cough, red eyes, and worsening allergy symptoms. We realized the shower walls were covered in black mold — which we'd mistaken for worn tiles. She is allergic to mold. We asked to be refunded for our last 3 nights to move to a hotel, reaching out three times on Thursday with no response. The hosts finally replied Friday at 11:15 AM — 15 minutes after the 11 AM checkout — agreeing to a refund, but later used the fact that we'd waited past checkout to withhold an extra night's payment. We would have left that morning had we known. Their delayed response was not accidental, and this tactic was the most offensive part of our stay.Additional notes:•One toilet leaked with every flush; a repair visit fixed nothing, so we used the other one.•The staircase to the bedroom is too narrow for standard luggage and the metal steps feel dangerously rusted.•They offered an upgraded apt instead of a refund, but we did not feel comfortable taking a chance The two-night refund from the hosts arrived two weeks later.
