Cabin in the Cottage is everything we hoped for in our weekend getaway!
This well kept, charming home fit our group perfectly! Incredibly clean and comfortable. The hosts have thought of everything. My husband, daughters and I commented through out our stay how happy we were with the place. We look forward to booking again!

Mosquitoes have arrived
My wife and I had mosquito bites the first but couldn’t figure out why doors shut windows shut and finally found window unite in the bedroom had duck tape around it and had come off allowing an open door to bedroom. I stuffed a paper towels in to block the holes a little to late I had 6 bites and wife had more. We booked this place because it had an outdoor gazebo which we planned on using since rain was predicted. The day before our arrival we got notified we could not use it due to the roof had to be replaced. I understand not the control of the owner but we would have canceled if we had more notice. Window units for AC worked but not very well. Owner did provide a lovely basket of goodies which we appreciated. the house was furnished with comfy beds both up and down appropriate towels and linens no soap for bathrooms up or down.

Out in the Country
This property was pretty far from Rhinebeck on narrow unlit roads. It was ok in the summer but I wouldn't have been comfortable driving there at night (just me!). The positives are that it was clean and though it is cluttered, the decor is cute and I loved the painted furniture. Also the layout is very nice for family or friends. They leave very nice treats and the house is well stocked. The negatives were that the house is rather dark. Not good for reading or for putting on makeup. The insects were everywhere! Nothing scary, but many moths, crawling bugs , flying bugs. The main problem for us was that the steps from the parking space were blocked by a large thorny bush so that it was not possible to use it. Very problematic because one person had mobility issues. Also the A/C was odd and had to be adjusted often. We didn't receive final instructions for access to the house and had to contact them thru VRBO and directly. They did respond but our phones were unreliable on the road nearby so that was a problem. The constant rain kept us from enjoying the outdoors but it looked very charming and I'm sure it's enjoyable in good weather. If you're looking to get out of the city, this might work all right. We needed more access to town so unfortunately it wasn't right for us.
