Deep Roots Retreat, a historic home with a story to tell. Originally a 1900 two-room Cedar Hill School, this space has evolved through five generations of family history. Crafted by my grandfather, the home exudes warmth with custom cabinets and shelving. Each corner holds the echoes of laughter, tears, and celebrations, creating an authentic and loving atmosphere. I could not have enjoyed this house more! It was very rural which is a definite plus for me. The beds were amazing! We had a carton of fresh eggs on the table. Anything and everything you would need in the kitchen. Although this place was in a rural area it was very easy to get to anywhere you wanted to go. Definitely recommend a lengthy stay here as you won’t want to leave! Thank you so much for letting us experience your home!

Love this property!

The property and home are amazing and we all loved doting on Miss Kitty :) Watch out for the red paper wasps though, seemed to be nests on either side of the porch. Would've given 5 stars overall except for the wasps, the owners may want to get those nests taken care of.

Peace and Tranquility

We absolutely love this property! The house is so warm and welcoming starting with the lush vegetation, beautiful landscaping, and big front porch! The rooms are spacious and comfortable, kitchen is great, sun room was a lovely addition, and the living room was cozy including board games for all ages. My favorite part was the proximity to trails and the Harpeth river. Lots of safe walking options and the bird feeders brought a constant flow of vibrant birds to admire. I loved how private and safe it was.

Spring break with the family

We had a great extended weekend at Deep Roots. We relaxed over the weekend, did a little hiking, sat around the fire, and played games. Monday and Tuesday we sent into the city to see museums and eat delicious food. Recommend the Parthenon and centennial park. First museum was great. Johnny Cash museum was amazing. The Harpeth River trails were beautiful and well maintained. Ten Star weekend!!

Cute and Clean

We brought four teenagers with us to stay at this cute school/farmhouse and it was a very comfortable stay. It was very clean and well-kept. There were thoughtful touches throughout such as extra toiletries in case we forgot our own, snacks, wine, and plenty of coffee. I loved the history of the house and the little reminders of its schoolhouse days. We spent our days out and about sightseeing, and it was the perfect place to land at the end of each day. When we had questions, the hosts were quick to respond. Honestly, our questions would have been answered had we just read through the well-planned out brochure the owners left us. ;) Nonetheless, they were patient and accommodating with us.

Weekend Vacation

This was our 2nd stay at this super cute house and we were not disappointed. We had the best time with our friends sitting on the deck listening to nature every night. It was more than comfortable for our group to spend most of the weekend just hanging out there. The kitchen had everything we needed for making meals, plus coffee and creamers that were just a very nice bonus. It was very clean and well taken care of and Alicia seems to take care in having pretty much anything stocked that you may forget at home or need. We like to try different things and places, but I believe this place will be a place we continue to return to.

Quaint country home.

Great country home close to State park/hiking trails . Real Tennessee country feel just minutes from groceries and fast food in nearby town. Really enjoyed our family vacation. Was a great rental/experience.

Family Get Away

We bought our family tickets to a concert in Nashville and needed a place for all of us and 2 pets. The place was a little off the beaten path, but I was aware when booking and we loved having the peaceful location. It is also closer than you would think to some really good restaurants and shopping. We were only able to stay a couple nights and a big part of it was away from the house due to the concert and some other site seeing. We would have loved so much to have more time to spend in the house though. It was very welcoming and had plenty of room for us. My two younger kids spent all the time they could in the sunroom. Alicia responded quickly to an inquiry we had and I think she had about everything you may ever forget to bring. The “coffee counter” was a great touch for us! We would absolutely book this place again.

Beautiful Farmhouse

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely farmhouse! It was quiet and peaceful with no traffic on the road. The beds were very comfortable and the home was beautifully decorated, cozy, and the perfect place to stay while in the Nashville area for a few days. Close to a state park and the Harpeth River and not far from restaurants and shops in the Bellevue area. Host was very responsive with great communication. We felt right at home. Highly recommend!

Cozy country retreat

Talk about getting away from it all….this charming 2 bedroom house was on a road all by itself out in the middle of nowhere. It was so quiet and tranquil and felt like coming home. Our hosts left us farm fresh eggs, and a Happy Anniversary cake since we were there celebrating our anniversary. They were prompt in responding to any queries we had. Overall we highly recommend.

Family Farmhouse

We had a lovely time, the farm house is exactly what we were looking to capture. Sweet touches with local Tennessee sweet treats, fresh flowers and country eggs. What more can you ask, they welcomed our Puppy Loretta Lynn and she was very happy as well.

Lovely cottage in the woods

Let this cozy place be your home away from home. Nestled in a quiet wooded area, you will have all the amenities-full kitchen, 2 bedrooms, washer/dryer, fireplace. We stayed during a cold spell in January and were plenty warm with the portable heaters in each room, which we were able to adjust to our comfort. Alicia responded quickly each time I reached out. The property is well-kept, bedding is comfy, rooms are tidy and well-appointed. They were thoughtful in salting the porch and steps to prevent slipping from the ice/snow. What a pleasant surprise to have some yummies on the kitchen table when we arrived! We are always grateful when owners allow pets, especially a big dog like ours. It felt like a true vacation and we would definitely stay here again if the opportunity arose.

Wonderful owners, location, beauty! Issues with heat

These are the most responsive owners I've ever stayed with! The farmhouse is lovely, old, and in a beautiful natural area, especially if you want to spend time at Harpeth River State Park. The stars are amazing, and the park is wonderful. We are city folk, so portable radiators as the only source of heat in the bedrooms were new to us. One stopped working, twice a fuse blew, and I wonder if the gas fireplace in the living room shouldn't perhaps have a screen in front of it. But every single time we had any issue, the family was there within minutes! It's an historic building with much to recommend a stay there.
