About this property

Lakefront Glamping w/ensuite bathroom, Fabulous View, near Acadia

Relax after exploring Acadia in a luxury Glamping Tent with an en-suite bathroom (with a real flush toilet!) located in the heart of Downeast Maine. With 3 beds and use of the outdoor kitchen it’s perfect for families. Acadia 1 offers the perfect mix of luxury, nature, and a fabulous view. You will feel like you are a million miles away yet we are only 15 minutes from civilization (and L. L. Bean!); conveniently located just 10 miles from historic Ellsworth (the gateway to Acadia) and another 18 miles from Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Here are some things that you might find important:

- The View - Acadia 1's deck offers a fantastic view of the Lake and the woods. And on a clear day you can see Cadillac Mountain from the lake's edge.

- The Bathroom - Acadia 1 has an ensuite bathroom with hot water and a real flush toilet. And the enclosed (private) outdoor shower is nestled under the tent's awning.

-The Location - We are close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor yet far enough away to avoid the crowds, traffic, and noise. Our Glamping Camps are deep in the woods on our seven acre private property, not in a campground or "Glamping Resort." We have only three glamping camps on our property; Acadia 1, Acadia 2 (VRBO #2522475), and Acadia 3 (VRBO #2686389).

Some other things to note:

Acadia 1 features a king bed with a real king mattress, crisp, clean sheets, and cozy duvets. It also features a daybed that converts to two twins. Perfect for families. Plus we have a pack and play and a crib available.

The Glamping Tent has a mini fridge and a Keurig coffee maker (with an assortment of K-cups) so you can enjoy coffee in the morning and cold drinks in the evening on the deck without having to leave the tent.

The outdoor kitchen, which is in a common area, features a gas grill, a separate stovetop, and a microwave. Coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and drinking water is available in the outdoor kitchen. We provide basic pots, pans and cooking utensils and plates, cups, and eating utensils. The outdoor kitchen's refrigerator is stocked with condiments and essentials and the ingredients for S'Mores.

The campfire ring with comfortable Adirondack chairs is adjacent to the outdoor kitchen area. There is no need to bring or buy firewood, we have plenty.

The road in to our property is a half mile camp road that takes you deep into the woods. No traffic, no noise, just seclusion, quiet, trees, and the beautiful lake.

Please note that the Glamping Tent is about 125 feet down a gravel path from the parking area (and just steps from the edge of the lake) so you cannot park right next to the tent. We have a luggage cart/wagon available if needed.

The Glamping Tent has a King bed and a a daybed that converts to two twin beds. It is ideal for a couple or a family (two adults and two or three children). It is NOT available for more than two adults.

***Glamping Downeast is in Maine's great outdoors so be prepared to accept the inherent risk of your adventure including wildlife, insects, and unpredictable conditions (we can’t control weather). Come with an adventurous and open mind, and some bug spray.

Amazing Stay!
We loved this property. It is far enough from town to feel secluded but close enough to visit Acadia, Bar Harbor, and other local attractions. Great location and the tent was perfect for a long weekend getaway. Lee and Peg were excellent hosts as well.

Glamping done right!!
We had the best stay at this property. The tent had everything you could need and the view was priceless. My children had the best time “exploring” the area. Lee even gave us fishing poles to use. The kitchen area was so convenient for preparing meals and the fire pit and s’mores were enjoyed by all of us. Literally cannot say enough good things about our stay. We had the best time!

Summer gateway
We decided a last minute visit to the Acadia National Park and fortunately found Lee & Peg Glamping site. The site is easy to reach and upon arrive Lee explained all was needed to manage the tent . Also gave us great info of the area and the Acadia National Park. The kids had a blast and the view from the Tent is spectacular right on the lake . Was a great experience that we will most likely repeat . Thanks Lee & Peg

Idyllic glamping
Our stay was amazing and we could not have asked for a better view and setting. The tent space was outstanding and we could not have enjoyed sitting out on the deck more. We really enjoyed staying there and enjoying being in such a natural setting.

About the host

Host profile image
As avid sailors we have owned several sailboats, lived aboard, and cruised Mexico's Sea of Cortez with our young kids. We have backpacked through Europe and hiked and camped throughout the U.S. Peg is a landscaper and a piano teacher and Lee operated a market research company that specialized in zoos and museums. We have also owned and operated two marinas; one in Maine on the Penobscot River and one in St. Louis Missouri on the Mississippi River.

In 2015 we started Glamping St. Louis with a single glamping tent and then expanded to six unique glamping sites. We have hosted over 300 glamping couples and families from across the country at Glamping St. Louis.

We sold the St. Louis glamping business early in 2021 and bought our property in Maine. The idea was to create a family camp that we could use with our children and grandchildren and when not in use, make glamping available to others.

Since 2021 we have hosted over 150 couples and families in one of our three glamping campsites here on our property in Maine. We spend the “season”; Memorial Day through October, in Maine and November through April back in St. Louis.

Why they chose this property

Deep in the woods yet fifteen minutes to downtown Ellsworth. Fantastic view of Graham Lake and only 28 miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park.

What makes this property unique

Glamping on private property, not in a campground. Complete seclusion and a real bathroom right inside the tent!
