Acadia National Park: Acadia National Park: In 1913, President Woodrow Wilson set aside 6000 acres (within what is now Acadia National Park) as Sieur de Monts National Monument. With the acquisition of more land and private support and funding, in 1919 President Wilson signed an act establishing Lafayette National Park. In 1929 the parks name was changed to Acadia. Acadia National Park was established to protect the area's spectacular scenic values, Maine's rock bound coast, its coastal and its offshore islands as characterized by the geologic features, natural history and the native plant and animal life. Forty five miles of rustic carriage roads weave around the mountains and through the valleys of Acadia National Park, the gift of philanthropist John D Rockefeller, Jr., and family. Rockefeller, a skilled horseman, desired to travel on motor free byways via horse and carriage into the heart of Mount Desert Island. His efforts resulted in roads with sweeping vistas and close up views of the landscape.

Cadillac Mountain: Cadillac Mountain: At 1,530 feet, Cadillac Mountain is not only the tallest mountain in Acadia National Park, but also the tallest mountain along the eastern coast of the United States. Rising high above the town of Bar Harbor, Cadillac Mountain offers magnificent views of the Porcupine Islands and Frenchman Bay. Explore the summit of this granite mountain along a .3-mile trail, which includes wayside exhibits about natural and human history. Portions of this trail are accessible to wheelchair users. Cadillac Mountain is accessible via a winding, narrow, 3.5-mile road. The road is closed from December 1 through April 14 and whenever weather conditions (e.g., dense fog or ice) require.

Great stay over MDW!

My adult kids, Mom, pups and I had a great time at the cabin. The weather was not great the first few days so we went out explored the area, played games and watched movies. The lake is pristine and we took advantage of the owner provided paddle boards. The cabin was clean and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. Can’t wait to go back when the weather warms up!

Family Lakefront Vacation

This property is at a beautiful location. We loved the access to the lake. The problem we had, was that the inside of the house appeared dirty.

This was our 8th year on Beech Hill Pond and by far our favorite rental. The outdoor areas are astounding! The expansive deck, dock and sandy beach offer something for everyone. The floating dock was amazing and the neighbors even let the kids use their slide. While not too large, the cabin has everything you need: two bedrooms and a loft, plus open concept living. The kitchen was well equipped for any chef and we made dinner in several times! Door seafood is so close, we had lobsters by the lake a few times. Josh is a communicative, excellent host and this was our second stay at one of his properties; we will definitely be returning to this gem. Also the internet and TV service were excellent; we’ve stayed on cabins with spotty coverage and this was perfect!

Amazing girls weekend

The place was extremely clean with plenty of supplies including lots of linens and kitchen tools. We had a rainy weekend and had to stay in a lot but it was very comfortable even with 4 women and the occasional visitors.

Third time’s a charm!

This was the 3rd time we stayed at one of Josh’s lakeside properties - for good reasons. Everything about this lake, house, property, and amenities made for a thoroughly enjoyable stay. Every detail is thought of and executed extremely well. Looking forward to our 4th visit!

Upon arrival the house was spotless clean and absolutely beautiful. The owners really did think of everything we might have needed. We packed way to much stuff :) We loved the welcome basket (Thank you!) The lake was so clear and warm. We had a great time swimming, kayaking and using the paddle board. We will definitely be back.

All the Outdoor Fun Maine Has to Offer in One Cozy Camp

This is a beautiful camp and one of the most beautiful properties on Beech Hill Pond. You really couldn't ask for more in outdoor entertainment than this camp offers from the beautiful anchored and floating docks to the generous sandy lake access for swimming and easy in/out for the kayaks/canoe. We so enjoyed the scenic fire pit area and sprawling back deck with wonderful views of the lake and the loons that like to perch out front. Indoors, while compact, is comfortable and cozy and beautifully appointed with the best stocked kitchen we've ever had in a rental of any size. And if you are looking for more to see and do - the camp is less than an hour to Acadia, Camden and other gorgeous locations on the coast in Down East Maine. Josh was a warm and welcoming host and replied quickly to any inquiries we had. We had a wonderful time and really look forward to returning some day.

We had a terrific week on Beech Hill Pond! This is our 2nd year working with Josh and he makes the whole process (from booking to check-out) so smooth and easy. The property location is perfect that is gave us privacy but direct access to the lake and easy trips to Ellsworth for dinners and Bar Harbor for the day. We had everything we need as far as amenities and use water sports equipment. We rented a pontoon and tube from Lakeside Rental and thoroughly enjoyed every moment on the lake. The kids loved jumping off Junk of Pork and riding the tube. We had hoped to catch more fish but just being out and getting to fish was a treat! Our four-legged friend had a blast swimming on the lake, barking at the birds and running the hiking trails. He had a fantastic doggie-vacation. It was a nice, peaceful and relaxing way to end the summer for all. Oh, and the sunrise and sunset on the lake are breathtaking, of course!Thank you, Josh and crew for your attention and care! Till next time…

Peaceful and Relaxing

Our stay at this cabin was perfect for our family. Watching the pink sunrises across the lake each morning was breathtaking. I especially enjoyed sitting on the deck each morning reading my book and listening to the loons, and in the evenings sitting outside playing games. Our grandsons enjoyed fishing off the dock, my husband enjoyed kayaking and canoeing on the lake, and our golden lab enjoyed sunning herself on the deck. We hope to return to this location again. It would be beautiful in every season.

Wonderful weekend

Stayed for three nights at this wonderful property. Kids loved everything about it and our stay was just enough. We picked up supplies before getting to the house, so the only thing we went out for was bait at the local general store. Though the water was too cold for swimming, the beach was great for the use of the stand up paddle board, canoe, and kayaks. We fished all day and made use of the very generous welcome gift to make smores at night. The lake was so peaceful, there was some limited boating during the day, otherwise very quiet place to relax. I don’t think anybody wanted to leave and we could have enjoyed Acadia from the lake house being about an hour away but we made plans to stay in Bar Harbor. The only complaint we had was the couches were horrible for relaxing in the evening. We also had an incident with a rather large spider in the bedroom but it’s the woods and we live in the woods as well so we know what it’s about. The house was stocked with all the essentials, everything for making meals, plenty of linens and towels, WiFi. If we ever find ourselves heading up to Maine again, this house on Beech Hill Pond will be at the top of our list. bonus, we were greeted by a threesome of loons every day.

Wonderful camp, just magnificent views of the pond. The road was tough (unpaved), but it was so quiet. Again we went in October. Inside was very clean and nice, just like the photos they had on the website. We took drive to Bar Harbor very nice 👌
